Had an absolutely wonderful experience with this company for our vacation adventures over the 4th holiday weekend. Started the day with River rafting 3 hr trip with Goose. He was an absolute delight. So easy to talk to, definitely qualified and made us all feel very safe. He was a doll and very patient with our nervous 8 year old as well. She started off in borderline tears and by the end was floating down the river outside of the raft on her own. Again, 10/10 for Goose and the 3 hour raft trip. Ended the day with the 2 hour sunset horseback ride. Scooter was also amazing with our group. Very skilled young lady who handled our interesting group very well. Empowered our young rider to be confident and handle her own on her first ever trail ride. She's still talking about her horse Lucky and how much she admired our guide. We did the paddle and saddle adventures; 3-hour morning paddle on the CO River and 2-hour sunset horseback trail ride. Fantastic, friendly guides on both adventures. Brock was knowledgeable, personable and entertaining on the paddle. Our evening ride was unfortunately cut short by a pretty intense thunderstorm -but our guides Rose and Jade, handled it perfectly, calmly getting us and our horses safely back to the ranch. We booked the river float down through Ruby-Horsethief canyon with Rimrock Adventures and had an awesome time! Our guide was Josh and he was fantastic! He was incredibly knowledgeable about Grand Junction, Colorado and the Colorado river and gave us many fun and interesting stories during our float. He also did an excellent job of explaining the geology and topology of the area which was very interesting. The trip itself was relaxing and beautiful with giant desert cliff faces on both both sides of the river. We saw eagles, coyotes and a few bighorn sheep during our trip as well. We took this trip in September so the river was very mellow and this truly was a "float", not a raft trip. Josh did the work in paddling along the river and when the river got really slow he fired up a small engine to motor us along a little faster so that we made it back home on time. I personally would've preferred some more excitement (bigger rapids, helping paddle, etc.), or to not have to use the engine, but I understand that Rimrock can't control the flowrate of the river, I'm sure this trip in the Spring time is a blast. We stopped at the black rocks section of the river for lunch (included in price). It was a good spread of sandwiches with all the toppings you'd want, veggies, chips, drinks...not a "gourmet" lunch, but I was very pleased with the options available. We were able to swim and do some cliff jumping after lunch, Josh showed us a few spots and it was awesome! Overall, I'd say that if you want to get up close and personal with the Colorado river and the beautiful natural landscape that Grand Junction has to offer, Josh and Rimrock Adventures are the way to go! read more

We had a half-day saddle and paddles and we loved it. We booked the horses at 7:30 am and that was the best time to do it since after 9 am it gets really hot. More than 1 hour ride will hurt your legs if you aren't used to riding a horse. So that was a good time for us. The boat ride was more than 2 hours total. The tour guy was awesome funny and just cool. We had a great time. Totally recommend this place. read more

We did the sunset tour as a family of four with two kids 8 and 11. It was excellent, the guides were great, friendly, and the horses were excellent. It was the perfect way to end a day of exploring through the Colorado National Monument. We are all beginner horseback riders and we felt completely safe the whole time and we're able to just enjoy the beautiful scenery as the sun set on the canyons. We also saw lots of animal tracks that intrigued the kids, lots of bunnies and even some bats. Would definitely come back if we are in the area again and highly recommend you visit. read more

I'm giving five stars for our guide Tony and his professionalism and awesome attitude. We opted for the full day trip and my only note is that on their website they should really put that this particular trip is truly just a long lazy river with no rapids. Had we known this we would have definitely opted for a more exciting trip. On the positive the river was nice and the wildlife was everywhere. We loved getting to cool off in the water and the lunch that was set up by the guide was amazing. This company has many options and I would definitely use them again. "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all," but since my ONLY opportunity to take a trail ride on our month-long trip just got canceled, I'm sounding off. I called the 5-star-rated Rimrock Adventures in Grand Junction, CO this morning and was told that there was no room for a single rider. They needed 2 people to make up a group, so I talked my wonderful spouse (who is not really a horse afficionado) into coming. I gave the woman all the pertinent information (height, weight, age), and got a confirmation email for a 2-hour sunset ride. She said the office would be closed when we arrived so we should just go to the stable. (This is an activity my spouse is very unlikely to be physically able to do even if we come back this way in 2-3 years.) I looked forward to it all day and planned our one day in Grand Junction around it. We drove 35 miles round trip to find nobody there except a gentleman who has worked there many years. He called the person who had scheduled us, then handed me his phone. She was profusely apologetic about the mix up but bottom line, there were no wranglers scheduled or available, and it was too late to have one come out. So, no once-in-a lifetime bucket list sunset trail ride for us in this gorgeous part of the states. My advice: call to reconfirm any activity that Rimrock Adventures offers even if they send you an email confirmation. We could have gone with any of about 5 different companies offering trail rides in the area, and would have made other arrangements had we known Rimrock was not able to fulfill their confirmed obligation. read more

Went on a 90 minute river raft/float with my family and sister in laws family. Smitty was our guide and he was excellent. Plenty of room in the raft, life jackets were fairly new and clean. Able to stop and swim at a couple of areas. The changing areas at the main office were clean. Prices were very reasonable and it was nice that they gave a military discount. Had a great experience on the sunset horseback riding trip. Both my daughter and myself are beginner riders but Nicki made sure to pair us with the right horses with our experience levels and sizes. We rented a raft and groover from Rimrock and they had it all ready to go when we arrived in the morning. Super friendly and efficient staff. Plus, we scheduled them to come to the take out and pick it all up at the end of our trip. There isn't enough good to say about RimRock! The mellow scenic flat water float is great for the young kids to the grandparents and the whitewater is a huge thrill!! The guides, owner, and office staff are top notch, helpful, happy, and extremely knowledgeable!! The horseback riding is a great adventure and a must for anyone who loves horses and the great out doors!! For those of you that like it all there is a saddles and paddles trip that is a must for anyone living or visiting Grand Junction!!! Our guides were great, and we enjoyed swimming and floating through parts of the river - including the border from CO to UT! The Black Rocks were beautiful and fun to hike around while we ate lunch. The kids were able to get in off the side of the boat to get wet. Super soakers were also on the raft. Over 4th of July, 4 of us rented canoes from Rimrock for a trip down the Colorado River. These guys had everything in order when we arrived and got us on our way quickly. My family and I had a great time horseback riding and rafting today. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I had a little more than I bargained for with my horse Geronimo who took off on a gallop back to the stable, but Beau did a wonderful job of reigning him in and calming me and the horse. The remainder of the ride was great. Austin took us down the river. He was knowledgeable and friendly. The ride was peaceful and pleasant. We had a great time and made some lasting memories. We were in the area for mountain biking but wanted to do something else. Something cooler in the heat of the day. We found RimRock and gave them a call. We did the 1pm departure of Blue Heron Run. We were hoping for a white water rafting trip but in Fruita they don't have that as a option. You have to drive some distance and only on certain days. Based on our schedule and not wanting to drive far this was our option. Two boats went out at this time. We had Dave as our guide. It was our group and two high school students. The other boat was another large group. The trip is a float more than anything. Water gun fights happen between the two boats. A good way to cool down as it was really warm. The water was way too cold for any of us to get in. We went at the end of June and thought we would be able to get in the water. All that snow melt is cold. Dave gave us some history of the area and did a great job spotting two eagles in the trees along the route. The float was about the right time. We were all ready to get out when we did. Be sure to bring sunscreen. That sun is bright. A good way to spend an afternoon. Professional team. Easy to book, easy to pay and easy to participate. I do wish the water gun fights didn't happen the entire trip. It would have been nice to just be still and listen to the nature. That is not the company's fault. More the other family in the other boat that thought it was too fun. They provide bottle water. If you want to bring a small cooler there is room on these boats. I would also not bring anything on the boat you do not want to get wet. As everything gets wet on the boat. No place to store things unless you have it in a dry bag. read more

We rode horses in the morning and then went and did a river trip in the afternoon. It was awesome and super easy. Well planned and our guide was excellent and we really enjoyed him. Rimrock as great in planning a Wastewater trip with the rental of two rafts and SUPs (unguided, self supported). Made it very convenient for meeting at the put-in and were there with good quality equipment and on time. They also provided a car shuttle. I can't speak highly enough about the great experience I had with Rimrock Adventures while on vacation with my wife. We took advantage of their full day 'Paddles and Saddles' trip which is basically a half day of Horseback riding with a break for lunch followed by a half day flat-water rafting trip. The guides for both of these outings were top notch... friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about their jobs. The other staff from top to bottom were also friendly and very helpful. The crew at Rimrock is top-notch! We had a rock fall from a canyon wall on our drive to Fruita which caused some damage to the windshield. This could have been a real pain for our drive home, after take-out from Westwater. Steve (and the crew at Rimrock) arranged to have the windshield replaced, while we were relaxing and enjoying our river trip! We arrived at Westwater to find our shuttled vehicle with a new windshield already in place. What a treat! Rimrock always provides excellent service (we use their shuttle service every year). But, this went above and beyond!! They are the best! read more

My son and I were in town to tour the Mesa State College campus, it was early in the season for horseback riding but they were glad to get us a guide and some horses. The trails they ride are on national park land and are in great condition and very scenic. All in all we had a great ride, I would highly recommend them for horseback riding. read more
