Just a quick thank you to Over the Top Quilting Studio, Susan and Chris, and the staff overall. First, they have a great beginners course on long arm quilting. If you are new to quilting or new to long arm, it is SO fun and you learn so much! Second, they have just about every type of machine you could need. Big quilt whole cloth designs, simple, free motion, and computerized software to help you make it perfect - they have it all. Third, their prices are so affordable. Only $25/hour to work on these beautiful machines that a lot of us can't afford or don't have space for living in a city that is so otherwise expensive. Not only that, you are not alone. Susan, Chris, and their entire staff are masters at these machines and Johnny on the spot to help you with any trouble you might run into. I have learned SO much from them. And by the time you do feel like you can afford one and have the space for one, when you do buy from them, you are going to know exactly what you are doing and they are still always there for support, unlike buying a machine straight from a manufacturer or from a store that just has a sales person, but no one who is so passionately into long arm quilting and knowledgeable about your specific machine that they can help you when you get stuck. If you have a loved one who loves to quilt, buy them the intro class for long arm quilting (that is what my husband did). They will totally love it and you will be able to get them out of the house all day Saturday so you can watch your college football game in peace! Over the Top has become such a special community to me that I just wanted to take some time to share it with others. Susan and Chris can also do the quilting for you. I joined the world of quilters in September of 2020. My husband gave me the rental certification class at Over the Top Quilting as a Christmas gift. I've been renting their APQS longarms since then and so could not speak more highly of the owners and staff. They are amazingly patient and kind. They are simply incredible at hand holding - and they do a LOT of it when I come in. They have a great selection of wide backs and batting. Their prices are extremely reasonable. If you aren't sure how long a project is going to take - I would definitely suggest renting the whole day instead of a few hours as it's a nice discount on the hourly rental price! They offer excellent support and they even let you use Quilt Path which comes with hundreds of designs. What's Quilt Path? A fantastic and easy to use quilt automation program that guides the quilting machine if free motion isn't your thing. They have a broad selection of batting on the roll with different fibers and colors. There is no need to buy in advance and steam out the wrinkles. Don't feel like piecing that quilt back on Friday night before your Saturday AM rental? No problem, these ladies have literally "got your back" with a well curated selection of wide fabrics (including cuddle) that you can choose from when you get there. Did you forget to bring thread? Or maybe you changed your mind once you started loading your quilt top? Every single thread color you can imagine can be found about 5 steps from that front door. High quality and at an excellent price. I'd put the price here but you wouldn't believe me, it's that good. Oh and if you choose from the popular colors they have preloaded on bobbins there is no charge for thread at all. Bonus! What? After taking the class on how to load the quilt layers on the machine, getting familiar with the machine and setting up the quilting pattern, the staff continues to be helpful and is always right there when you need them.
