Great spot for a wedding with beautiful grounds inside and out. We had a great time at a friends wedding here this month. The food and drinks were amazing and it was such a great location. There are inside and outside spots for the ceremony and food. We had the service outside in a tent and then cocktail hour outside on the patio. Attended my cousin's wedding a few weeks ago and had a wonderful experience with this venue. It's cozy and was very fitting of the couple. The ceremony was beautifully decorated with a chandelier at the top of the tent. It's a great option if you're looking to get married outside but concerned about weather. For the women and elderly at least, you do have to watch your steps when going outside since it's a bit of a cobblestone path in heels or those with poor balance. We got married the Saturday before Easter and up until my wedding day we - me, my mom, my future mother in law - all raved about what a great value the place was, how nice it looked, how excited we were that we found the place... They were slow to respond to emails, which wasn't a huge deal to me, though there were times where it was very annoying. The day before the wedding, our coordinator Julia had told us she would be there the next day (Saturday) and that she would make sure our ceremony was set up (we did a paint ceremony, so we had a canvas and 2 small bottles of paint that needed to be emptied into a vase - she said they'd handle it so I didn't need to risk getting paint on my dress, also we had a tissue paper flower backdrop to be hung. It was all tied to dowel rods, so it just needed to be sat on top of the alter). She told me that she would take care of the setup and even bring in flowers to hang behind our sweetheart table. We were told that there would be someone to come into our rooms to let us know when the groomsmen were to go outside and someone to let us ladies know when you leave... Day of the wedding - Julia never showed up. We never knew this until everything ran late. Luckily for us we did a first look, and at 10 minutes before guests were to arrive and the ceremony had still not been set up we rushed to get everything up in time, and I had to pour the paint into the vases myself. Since there was NO day of coordinator, everything ran very late. Guests were not ushered out to their seats in time, the ceremony was about 15 minutes late before our family and the best man had to step in and organize the event. After the ceremony, we were waiting for introductions. No one had told the staff that there would be any, so that ran about 20 minutes late by the time our best man got everything moving. As for the food, it wasn't horrible it wasn't great. For as inexpensive as it was, it was what we expected. We had NY strip and teriyaki chicken. The chicken was not tossed in the sauce. It just laid on the plate with a thick zig zag of sauce on top - unlike the tasting where it was mixed. It was kind of gross, so I skipped that part of the meal. PROS: The fact that the location is BYOB saved a LOT of money for us when it came to alcohol. The partnership with the liquor store was great, the owner of the store made a few trips over with more types of wine and beer and there were no issues with that. Also, the catering staff was great. The people that actually showed... They were attentive and worked with us so that we could get things moving. Overall, had we known that we would need to organize the majority of the day of events AHEAD of time, we probably would have still gone with Overhills to save money. But figuring it out after your ceremony is already running very late, it is completely unprofessional. Especially since they only have a 7-11 window for the evening location, with everything running late and no coordinator to organize anything we only had about an hour of dancing which was really upsetting for me, since that was what I was really looking forward to. We would not recommend this location anymore. Our families are beyond disappointed with how the managing staff of Overhills handled the day. We even had high hopes since my mother-in-law knew the people who were supposed to be organizing everything. As a bride, this location is not worth the stress. read more

We were so picky about the location for our wedding, and were so excited to find somewhere as beautiful as Overhills. We had several meetings with Lynda who is quite good at getting all the details together. She qwelled my concerns as well as my finance's and parents concerns about making sure we had an event planner (as promised) who knew all the details of our special day there. We were having a Jewish ceremony and the mansion was supposed to have their pergola moved so that our florist could set up a Chuppah, I got a call at 1:30 from my florist (who was amazing) when I was getting DRESSED in my WEDDING DRESS that it hadn't been moved, not ok. We also decided to serve ribeye and were told that of course everyones steak would come out warm. I have to say that there were more things that didn't go well on our wedding day that had to do with the venue than I imagained. First...the co-ordinator that we'd been told would be there, Julia, was there when we arrived for pictures, but evidently went home sick, without even saying a word to me, the bride. She left in charge a very nice but inexperienced and uninformed young man, Derrick (I say this because honestly I don't think this is completely his fault). The "event co-ordinator" is supposed to be there to manage the day, to line people up for the ceremony, to line people up for the introductions, to make sure your timeline is follow and that all the details that we spent MONTHS talking to Lynda about were carried out. First, no one but my PARENTS lined us up for the ceremony or even came to checkin with us except to introduce himself as the banquet manager, and I assumed that meant just for the food. After we waited for our string quartet to arrive, Derrick NEVER came back to talk with us, our DJ did, our officiant did, our photographer did but Derrick never came in. He didn't ask what we wanted to do regarding the ceremony, nothing, that was all taken care of by people who shouldn't have had to deal with it. Unacceptable. After the ceremony and before pictures I pulled Derrick aside and very sternly told him that I know this wasn't the plan to have him here but he needed to get on the ball and familiarize himself with our timeline and things that had been discussed. There also wasn't an easel to hold our marriage contract as there was supposed to be, our Cantor had to go find it, Unacceptable. At dinner, over half the steaks were cold including mine and pretty tastless, (actually they sent me the wrong meal first) we NEVER got any appetizers that were supposed to be put in the bridal suite, and it took me asking 3 times for them to bring us some at the sweetheart table and they were incredibly cold. My mother in law, who is a super picky eater and sister in law were supposed to get "adult kids meals" which on our contract were listed as "Chicken tenders, pasta with butter and applesauce" they were served 1 burnt chicken tender, brussel sprouts and butternut squash puree. We paid for extra bar tenders to serve wine at dinner and my dad told them at the beginning that one type of white wine is the one they'd like passed and the other was to stay at the bar, he had to tell them that several times before they actually listened! We went to great lengths to pair the wine with the food and it was pointless. There was also an expensive bottle of Scotch that was only supposed to stay behind the bar and the bar tenders didn't listen, they served it to whoever asked, so when my now husband and father went up there, there was hardly any left. There were other things that went wrong but these were the highlights. Overall I'm pretty disappointed in Overhills, luckily we had some amazing vendors who made it a great night, but Overhills really didn't play a big part in pulling that together. Had a wedding venue on a Friday evening in June. There is a bridal room in the back and a room upstairs for the groom to get ready. You can arrive an hour before the ceremony which worked out well. The wedding was outside and because of the staff's patience on a thunderstorm coming through we were able to have the ceremony outside. They put down some place rugs and we were able to walk down the aisle without mishaps. The outside garden was just beautiful. The ferns and flowers were by the archway. There wasn't really a need for any additional ones on the arch itself as you are surrounded by mother nature in the back of the mansion. After the ceremony there was a huge fruit tray and cheeses for our guests in the lobby area and the bar was opened. They set up a special tray of food for us in the bridal room. There were also some pass around treats. We had booked a package deal for the food and the only different is I would have upgraded these. The wedding coordinator for the evening did a fantastic job organizing things. Informing us of the weather conditions and the time table. We actually finished the ceremony and pictures early and she was able to get the introductions and dinner started early which left more time for the dancing and partying. The room was beautifully decorated. They allow you to use their lamps on the tables and with the flowers we purchased and the place settings the table looked great. The table clothes are white and for an extra few dollars we had them put a purple wide band across them to give them color. The serving of dinner went well and the bistro steak and chef's summer salsa chicken was the duet we picked. A lot of people commented they liked having two meats served. It was a sit down dinner and the service was good. The chef has the choice of the starch and vegetable. The vegetable was string beans and they were nicely done. The starch was a rice. The bread was just an ordinary loaf cut into slices. A lot of people commented to us on how much they enjoyed the dinner. The ballroom was amazing. The lights all around made it sparkle. The cake was cut and they placed it by the bar on a table for the guests. Also included in the package was some food at the bar later in the evening....great cranberry meatballs and some nachos. They also had allowed us to bring in some cupcakes from an outside vendor and the guests really enjoy the textra treats with their after dinner coffee. They are very open to any ideas you may have. The dancing lasted till 11 and the staff helped us pack everything up. They had a walk through to be sure no one had left anything. It was a great evening. The staff in the office is amazing to work with . The wedding cooridinator also. They always got back to us in a timely manner with any questions we had. We had some paper work that had to be in at certain times and they were always available to answer our questions no matter how silly they might have been. I know June is a busy month for weddings but they always acted in a professional manner and treated us so special. On the day of the wedding we took all our pictures, favors, toasting glasses etc there and they had everything in place. It was our dream wedding. Thank you so much Overhills and everyone who helped make this so special for us. Tip: The Mansion requires you to use The Whitehouse Caterers. They do not have a liquior license and you purchase the booze for your event from Route 40 liquiors. You receive a credit for any booze not used. The guy at Route 40 is great at selecting the right amount. You get to keep the opened bottles and he takes the rest back. You can save a ton of money on that. We had an open bar and it was very inexpensive. You pay Overhills for the bartender and the there is a charge per person for the soda package....but in the long run an open bar is quite reasonable. read more

Recently we held our mothers Celebration of Life Ceremony at the mansion as well. Everyone who attended raved about the staff, the mansion itself, the food ( the veggie chili was outstanding)...everything was delicious!. As the person coordinating the event with the staff i will personally say that i could not be more pleased. Completely happy across the board. My every thought was heard and considered. The event coordinators , the chef , Mark , Lauren, Jessica ...The entire staff was so on point. Just finished celebrating a Surprise Birthday Party for my wife at the Overhills Mansion. I could not have been more pleased with the help I received from Lauren and Lynda in planning. They guided me through everything that needed to be addressed, even suggestions for the cake and beverages. The wait staff that took care of us on Saturday were OUTSTANDING!!! They made sure everything was in place and that none of the items for the Fresh Market Display ran out. (Great strawberries). The two servers presented the food at the right time and carefully and politely removed the empty plates. "Scott with the beard" handled the bar with a very pleasant approach. My guests commented on how he greeted them and made sure that they had exactly what they requested. Now for the food--WOW. The menu provided by White House Caterers was comprised of Marinated and Grilled Chicken Breast with a Blackberry Vidalia port sauce, roasted carrots with cumin and smashed Parmesan potatoes. Everyone present commented on how tasty the food was. Having one planned meal was a success. I ordered a cake from 'SugarBakers' in Catonsville that was beyond belief (Check out the review for them.) If anyone is looking for a venue with a great flair, this is it. If I could give them 10 stars it still would not be enough. read more

My husband and I looked at a ton of venues, and none even came close to Overhills. I have attended a couple weddings here and loved them! All the staff was clean cut and very nice. The food was great, I wish they opened up a restaurant so I could eat there whenever I want . The Bride and & Grooms seemed to actually enjoy their wedding, which normally it just goes by way too fast. I think this was because of their whitehouse caterer's floor manager making sure everything happened on time, so we could have plenty of time to dance! The first wedding I went to was about 170 guests and the 2nd was around the same, so much fun dancing! AND you can bring in your own alcohol! read more

Venue is beautiful but it's not worth it if your cake gets lost and the photo booth was neither mentioned nor working properly!!!.... Also we got stolen from, bridal party someone went threw our bags and stole our money as well as cards for the bride and groom and when told the last in charge could careless... Also said its happens.. So why not look at the cameras I say well her resolve there's no way to tell so many people go in and out.... My daughter selected Overhills for a Halloween wedding. It was perfect. If I were asked to name one thing that they could have done better, I would be at a loss! DO NOT USE THIS CATERER FOR YOUR WEDDING. My husband and I are both anaphylaxis to tree nuts and communicated the severity of our allergies to Whitehouse caterers when we booked our wedding reception with them. The night of our wedding our green beans were served with Almonds!!! I had an allergic reaction immediately! The worst part of the experience was their unwillingness to accept blame for putting nuts in the food. They tried to tell us the event was NUT-FREE despite there being large visible slivers of Almonds in the green beans. Our entire wedding reception and the 3 days proceeding the event I had a swollen throat and was covered in HIVES. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They cannot be trusted to tend to individuals with food allergies. They are unable to make accommodations for special food needs despite promising their ability to do so. Also, they lack Quality control for the food that is served. We had guests who found plastic wrappers in their meals!! HORRIFYING--- is the word the best best apt to describe our experience with Whitehouse caterers!! read more
