    Leftover sponge from 2002

If I could give it a NEGATIVE 5 as a review, I would! One word to describe this campsite and facilities....NASTY!!!!!! We stayed in the cabins for $80 a night with a 3 night minimum! With taxes, etc. it was $270+. The cabins were absolutely disgusting! I expected them to be "bare bones" and we brought everything we needed (they don't supply anything other than 2 beds, mini refrigerator (thought they don't tell you it is "mini" in any advertisement or when you call to inquire), 2 unit hot plate, 2 small trash cans, shower curtain, table/chairs set, TV and window unit AC (which does work, but as expected, was very loud...can't watch TV with the AC on or you'll blow out your ear drums!!). Again...we expected PLAIN!! THAT was not the issue! It was filthy, old and in horrible shape. Between the dead bugs, the broken faucets, the stained bedspreads (well...the stained EVERYTHING!!), the cigarette burn marks in our NO SMOKING cabin, the mold, the rust, etc...I could go on and on...but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words!!! I took a bunch and used no filters other than occasion flash! Enjoy!!! Oh...and to top it off...NO ONE inside the marina and store wore a mask! When my fiancé wore his a very large man started screaming in his face, "TRUMP!!! TRUMP!!! TRUMP!!!!" He wasn't doing anything other than wearing a mask during an epidemic. (There was no political attire on at all!)

We really like this place! Friendly staff and so fun for my kids. They even showed us how to fish, etc. Highly recommended

Always a fun time to be had! We usually come on weekdays to avoid the crowd and have the place to ourselves for the most part.

Did not honor our reservation, but rather overbooked for a bachelor party and did not inform us until we arrived. Grave lack of integrity!

We were on one the smaller loops. Was a lot quieter than the other ones LOL the swim area was full of boats by the afternoon. The trails are marked, when you drive in and go toward the swim area, you'll see the brown sign at the entrance along the right. We drove around and checked out all the sites, they have quite a few that can accommodate large RVs along with extra parking for a boat. If you pull up the satellite view on Recreation.gov you'll be able to view the spot numbers and layout that way. Perfect for sunset pictures! Seems a lot cleaner than past pictures. Read online that is was part of the push of why they stopped allowing day passes. COEs on the lake are only for camping reservations, which is great bc it was pretty busy, cam only imagine how crowded it would be if it was open to public as well.

So we showed up today a casual 10 minutes late. I'm always stressed about being late and they were very cool with it which immediately relaxed me. I think the marina itself could use more signage as we didn't see where to go to check in and had to be directed by someone else on the dock. We find our way, one of the employees said she was going to check that our bobcat was working (really appreciate that, always want to know it works) and we checked in inside. Without prompting, they recommend some cool areas of the lake to check out. This was excellent and I loved it. Zach was driving, so I was thriving, and they had wine on sale for 20% off, so they twisted my arm and I ended up with some delicious, cheap, plastic, single-serving bottles of wine. They were very patient with my nerves as we got loaded onto the boat and I tried not to lose all of my items. I really misinterpreted the size of the boat and, as I always do, overpacked. We did not need towels, we did not really need ... anything .... except maybe the wine. They gave us a great overview of how to steer the bobcat, cuz it was a little different than what we are used to with big boy boats, and we were off! We had a great time, we made it back alive, we signed a paper saying we were alive and had returned their bobcat, and they surprised us by saying bobcat rentals no longer have to pay for gas. We did not argue and hippity hopped it out of there. They made it so easy, the price is reasonable, they seem to have pretty open availability, and you can rent by the 1/2 hour. I can see us having a date night where we grab some dinner at Deadfish and then take a bobcat out for an hour to watch the sunset from the lake. This is my life now? No complaints.

In the center of the pier, there is an observation hole, where you can feed the fish and have them come to the surface. There is a little coin operated fish food dispenser, which provides for entertainment for kids and husbands alike! We did find that the fish didn't want to have anything to do with that creepy observation hole, but were abundant on the outsides of the pier itself, and gobbled up their snacks. The marina was well maintained, and had very little refuse around, and no graffiti or any of that type of stuff. Very relaxing. I did notice that there wasn't a whole lot of seating. There was only a bench or two, which happened to be occupied the entire time we were there, so there was no place for our elders to get off their feet. There were a few shops along the marina, but none of them were open. There was really no place for light treats and snacks. I noted one or two expensive sit-down restaurants. I believe this Marina is still developing, as they are building and selling new condos in the area. So hopefully, they get more eateries and things to do along their beautiful pier. I didn't know that Lake Conroe was so huge! It seems to go on forever and feels like you are looking out into the endless ocean, and not just a lake. There are boat and slip rentals available in the marina. I think if I lived here, I would probably visit often.

We drove to the park to see if that perfect RV spot had opened up and was stopped by a very rude standoffish woman which we learned was the owner/manager Kathy (so she said). One thing I know real well is how to approach and welcome a prospective resident; a "Hello may I help you" with a smile is how you approach a person, but instead got a sharp rude "What do you need." Right then with her comment and mannerism I knew this was not where we want to be. We are sad that Good Times will not be our future home but dealing with a rude manager is not a place we want to call home. We never had a chance to try the restaurant which has rave reviews but be choose not to patronize a place management is not welcoming.
