We love camping here! We are return campers.(yes happy campers)We rent a cabin and have a great time fishing and swimming and duck feeding. The staff have ALWAYS BEEN GREAT to us. There is plenty to do here you can fish, swim‍ ,boat (gas pump for your boat),feed ducks, canoe,bring your rv or rent a cabin,rent a shelter,have a picnic,fish from behind your cabin,smores,campfire... . Don't let old reviews from someone who has no idea of what a really great place this is stop you. And No i don't live/work here. P.S. it has undergone a renovation after the flooding of last year. I guess we had high expectations when we reserved to stay here. All they had left was a Cabana and we weren't too sure what that meant. The gentleman told me it was like tent camping only sheltered. It was that...a 2 bed small four wall enclosure. I think there would have been more room in my motorcycle camper, but would have still needed to use the restroom. We were ok with the close quarters and luckily enough I had asked if we needed to bring our own bedding, towels, etc. Which we did, sure glad I asked because the information was not volunteered. I'm sure glad because we probably would not have used theirs. After making the bed we decided to check out where the rest/shower room was. YUK!! Did I say YUK! It was thoroughly disgusting! I came out of the building and told my husband I would eat the $40/night fee if he would find us a room in town. I was afraid to turn the water on in fear the water would be brown and the bugs that were everywhere!! Camping would not have been that buggy! Clean your bathrooms please!! If you had your own bathroom and sleeping facility, I think this would be a nice place to stay. They did refund our $20 pet fee since we didn't stay, but would not refund the next night. We stayed here on the Northern side of the RV camp grounds (site 111). Very nice, peaceful and spacious. They have a playground over here that my daughter liked. We were the only ones over here. All the other RVers were at the Southern RV sites. Most of the RV sites are 30 amp. They have a few 50 amp spots. They have water at all the sites that I can see, except the tent or day use sites. No sewer hookups at the sites. They do have dump stations. The marina is well stocked with snacks, drinks, bait and fishing equipment. I only gave them 4 stars because the restrooms at the camp are atrociously disgusting (use your own). Update on one of the restrooms: the one at the marina was ok - it looked and smelled clean on the inside. read more

Guns and killing otters! NO! I would NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE. While sitting on the boat dock, fishing with my child, we were joined by several others and their children. We were delighted to see an oddity...a family of otters who had found a catfish to have for dinner. We thought it was adorable and were so happy to know that there ARE fish in the lake. Moments later, a man (who later informed us that he runs the place) walked right up to us with a loaded shotgun and shot our otter friend in the head. Thank you for messing up my child...she is scarred now. He spent the next hour waltzing around the dock with a loaded shotgun playing otter mating sounds and trying to lure more otters to shoot. There were children all around. Of course we packed up to leave but we watched from the car while I tried to do some research on the topic. How could you? read more

Always a fun time to be had! We usually come on weekdays to avoid the crowd and have the place to ourselves for the most part.

If I could give it a NEGATIVE 5 as a review, I would! One word to describe this campsite and facilities....NASTY!!!!!! We stayed in the cabins for $80 a night with a 3 night minimum! With taxes, etc. it was $270+. The cabins were absolutely disgusting! I expected them to be "bare bones" and we brought everything we needed (they don't supply anything other than 2 beds, mini refrigerator (thought they don't tell you it is "mini" in any advertisement or when you call to inquire), 2 unit hot plate, 2 small trash cans, shower curtain, table/chairs set, TV and window unit AC (which does work, but as expected, was very loud...can't watch TV with the AC on or you'll blow out your ear drums!!). Again...we expected PLAIN!! THAT was not the issue! It was filthy, old and in horrible shape. Between the dead bugs, the broken faucets, the stained bedspreads (well...the stained EVERYTHING!!), the cigarette burn marks in our NO SMOKING cabin, the mold, the rust, etc...I could go on and on...but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words!!! I took a bunch and used no filters other than occasion flash! Enjoy!!! Oh...and to top it off...NO ONE inside the marina and store wore a mask! When my fiancé wore his a very large man started screaming in his face, "TRUMP!!! TRUMP!!! TRUMP!!!!" He wasn't doing anything other than wearing a mask during an epidemic. So let me start off by saying that I love camping and am always on the lookout for great campgrounds especially those that have a lake for fishing. My boyfriend being an avid mountain biker is especially interested in finding those that have challenging bike trails as well. Being Memorial weekend, we were invited out to Somerville by his father's side of the family; as it turns out, it is pretty much their annual thing to do Memorial weekend at Somerville. I will say that we had a nice time, the lake is nice and there is a lot of space. You can do some fishing here, jet ski, float on tubes, etc.. Downside: omg, the public restroom is completely horrible and utterly disgusting! I have NEVER seen a restroom so filthy and foul smelling such as this; you would have thought it was the restroom at some seedy rest stop or gas station out in the middle of nowhere. The doors do not have locks on them so you have to position yourself in such a way that you can lean down and hold the door simultaneously. Let's not even talk about the stench; it was God-awful. I definitely will NOT want to come back here for any camping excursion. Now it is ok if you have an RV; the family had an RV but the bathroom capacity was full so I had to go to the restroom. Having your own bathroom facility helps in situations such as these. It also did not appear that any camp sites were adjacent to the lake either which is common at lots of campsites to allow fishing from your site. There also were no trees anywhere near or around the lake at all. I like some sun, but some shade is good to be able to sit and enjoy the view, fishing, etc. I have been to way better camping grounds (we always tent camp), and can say for us we will NOT camp here ever. Not a place to take your family)))We have Been going to this lake since I was a kid fishing and boating I've spent every birthday there fishing and camping I loved taking my kids there we have never had a problem everyone is nice and Courteous Until this past weekend where some douche bag cut in line at the boat ramp he cut In front of 4 or 5 trucks and When I told him that he was cutting in line and you need to wait like everybody else he he said he doesn't and he Threatened me with bodily harm in front of my children that were in the back seat So to try to show my kids the correct thing to do in life I called the Marina and they sent someone over that did nothing so my kids think that if you are a Douche bag that you could just cut in line with no consequences the guy was driving a Ford Expedition my family will find a new lake to send our time and money at from now on Especially since that's how this place treats family's read more

Extremely clean and secure marina, with campsites, on the water...bait, tackle, picnic, and on the dock fishing! Adequate boat ramps, and parking. Very informative employees, and extremely cordial! Big thanks to Mike, in the Marina, for being so helpful! So nice of a place, I'm coming back with the wife, and the kids(Dogs) Tanks, for a great experience!!! We really like this place! Friendly staff and so fun for my kids. They even showed us how to fish, etc. We used their hut this time. Previous stay was at their cottage. We will come back with an RV to see how that would be. Highly recommended read more

Semi decent place to go. Sites are all pretty unlevel. Though they do have 50amp hookups, which is nice. No concrete pads, playground is a rust pit, bathrooms are pretty nasty, and a single dump station makes it annoying. Ladies at the front are nice, that is if they even say anything to you, generally it's crude humor or nothing at all. If you just want a quick camp by the water, this will suffice, if you want to take the kids for a weekend, probably not the best place, no trails, really NOTHING to do here, no bike trails either, just sand / water , by its NOT a clean lake, I'd never swim in it. read more

I would probably never camp here again. Campground has no pavement and sand gets into everything when wind blows. People are allowed to party throughout the night. read more
