I'm not sure why Google shows me in San Francisco. I just saw this show in Hershey, PA. Anyway, it was absolutely fantastic! In particular, the part after the intermission was the best show of any kind I have ever seen in my life. The acrobatics, costumes, sets...everything was truly incredible. It was so good that I set off on a search this morning to find places to leave it a rave review. If any of those involved in the show happen to see this, please know that you were all AMAZING, and we, the audience, appreciated you very much. To everyone else, you really, really want to see this show! Seriously, find a showing, even if you have to travel for it. It was outstanding. read more

As someone who has attended many Cirque du Soleil shows from Vegas, to Orlando, to New York, and it's birthplace in Montreal you can say I am a fan! So we were thrilled when Yelp offered us a chance to see this limited time show at Barclay's Center. OVO was one show I had not seen before, and was very happy to score tickets to it. This one had a cool insect and environment theme.Very different from past shows I saw, but yet very similar in comparison to many acts that I have seen previously. Crazy acrobatics, feats of strength, the beauty of rope dancers, the electric gymnastics of people flying through the air and jumping off walls, contortionists that amaze, balancing acts, comedy, clowning, and more. You really have to be impressed by the talent of the performers in a Cirque show. Oh, and if you happen to be sitting around the stage be prepared to possibly get pulled in and become part of the show, or become part of the pre-show high jinks. A young lady that was sitting in the first row found herself suddenly on stage as part of a humorous love triangle act. Lots of laughs and she was a good sport. As usual, this show was very colorful with many creative outfits, with stunning live singing and music throughout the night. The music in a Cirque show is very well done to fit the theme/acts, and the singers they find to drive the performances are always top-notch. Compared to their other shows I have been to this one seemed to be simplified a bit to fit the venue. The show itself was smaller in scale. Under the big top tent, or in the larger Vegas theaters, you can tell the difference. Still, it was a very enjoyable show to see. Always love me some Cirque! Thank you Yelp for letting me attend this amazing Cirque du Soleil performance. I came here with a few other Yelp Elites during the July 5, 2017 premiere at the Barclays Center. Many seats were empty tho and I guess people were still away during the holiday weekend. The OVO performers were great. There were many jumping moves and some aerobatics. I really like the beautiful costumes - colorful and bright. I like some of the songs and music as well. Our show started at around 7:30pm and ended at 9:45pm with 20 minutes intermission. Overall, I recommend this show and it's a great show to watch with the family and kids. read more

OVO was amazing. I have been to many cirque shows and other similar shows so was very surprised at the new acts and ideas in this show. A truly unique experience and great band and singers as well. The crowd was in awe and the show was overall entertaining and exciting to watch. read more

I'll give it a 5 out of 10. I've seen many other cirque shows and this was quite a boring one.

First, and foremost, thank you Yelp for giving us the opportunity to attend this amazing show by Cirque du Soleil. When it comes to circuses, Cirque du Soleil just gets it right and that was especially the case with Ovo. It was just my 2nd Cirque show ever, and really my 1st true Cirque circus show since the only other one I had been to was Paramour, which was technically a Broadway show. Ovo, which means "Egg" in Portuguese, had been touring for many years around the globe and finally returned back to NYC. The show started off a bit "slow" for the first 5 minutes, but things picked up quickly and it was non-stop, heart-thumping action from then until the very end, which was about 2 hours and change. There were amazing contortionists, high-flying swinging on cables/ropes, human air tossing from one end to another, gymnastics, wire-balancing and, to keep the show light, comedy. The music was also rhythmically synced perfectly with the show too. Overall, we had an awesome experience at Barclays Center watching Ovo. Even though we sat pretty close, in row 14, there didn't seem to be any bad seat in the house. The upper sections were closed off so everyone sat close enough to the stage. Since a majority of the Cirque shows are in Vegas, they are a challenge to see in person, so it's really great to see a show like Ovo get around to those who can't make it all the way out to the desert. read more

Great experience, thanks to Yelp! Although it's not the best Cirque we've experience because it lacked a plot, it was not disappointing either. Lady bug was awesome, so was many of the acrobats. The seats were also pretty good, overall a great date night. read more

This is my first Cirque du Soleil show and it was amazing! I wasn't sure what to expect being it's insect themed and I dislike insects but it was beautiful. I couldn't ask for a better performance which kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. There were moments when I said no way is that possible but I was proven wrong again and again. There are many acts, one of my favorites was the couple performing on aerial silk hanging from above. The music and choreograph was so beautiful and sensual. OVO consists mostly of acrobats but they also manage to incorporate humor and involve the audience amidst all the crazy acts. Thanks Yelp for this wonderful experience!! I really enjoyed the show, which is something very common when I am going to Cirque Du Soleil. The show and the performance were really nice and the sound track soundtrack was amazing. OVO it's a Portuguese style show , as far as I know Ovo means Oval. If to be honest I have seen few better shows in the past of Cirque Du Soleil how ever it doesn't mean that show wasn't good. There was no story behind the show and some of the stunt were taken from other shows. in between the scenes sometimes they had boring scenes of 2 people making pantomime. Thanks yelp for this amazing experience! When my friend invited me to watch this I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm always intrigued by the cirque du soleil shows. The performers were great with their depth defying acrobatic moves. The show was very kid friendly and at some parts interactive with the audience. A portion of the seats were closed off so it gave the show a more intimate feel. read more

Trying to help parents (and others too). We (my wife and our 5 year old son) went to see Ovu at the Barclay Center in New York on Saturday July 8th. We sat in section 16 with great views. The reason I am writing this review is because we bought the tickets based on SOOO MANY reviews that said this was a great show and especially good for kids - I do not agree....below is a breakdown of good and bad LOCATION: I have always seen Cirque du Soleil in smaller venues, tents they would have in special locations. That intimacy allowed you to experience the acts and costumes. This show was in a large arena (which was half full if that - on a prime Saturday) and therefore much of the action and costumes where VERY far away - and we had some of the higher end seats ($90 each). ACTS: The shows have become very predictable....they have the Asian group that does some type of "people" juggling, you have the traditional trapeze artists and of course the required diablo (two attached cups) rope juggling. You also get the couple that flies around on either some type of rope or curtain. Some of these acts are better than others in other shows....but at least in this show they were very "traditional" and basic. Also - usually the clowns are some of the best. From the beginning when they interact with the audience (not really too much here) then through the show with funny antics...nothing really memorable here....and NOTHING for kids there. COSTUMES: This is what has always made Cirque du Soleil DIFFERENT. The costumes has long noses, antennas or other interesting features....here they are all plastic wrap costumes. Cirque has ALWAYS been about acrobats, etc which limit the amount of things that you can have hanging off of you - but here the costumes looked like leftovers from a Batman or other low budget super hero movie.....nothing really imaginative. Even one of the leads looked exactly like the Superhero Blue Beetle with black sticks coming out of him....not very imaginative. MUSIC: This was fine....nothing special here... STORY: This was ABSENT. You come into the theatre and see this HUGE EGG that takes up the entire stage. Throughout the show various times the egg appears (in much smaller form) but you never really find out what the egg is about. Even at the end....you would expect perhaps something to hatch or maybe some type of shadow of whats growing in there? Nothing? At the end they just walk off with the egg....the story really revolves about the Blue Beetle guy chasing after a ladybug. Some of the jokes are a little sexual (again why I didn't think all that great for kids) GOOD: The acrobats that jump off trampolines up to walls is one of my personal favorites and even though I have seen this before (and performed in much more complex choreographies) - this was enjoyable. All and all....not really a great show. I saw many kids getting very hyper and standing up and wanting to run around - because even for adults this was a yawn....for younger members - they simply wanted to leave. I gave it two stars because still better than a traditional circus or other entertainment, but really not one of the better Cirque shows....I would pass. Good luck! read more

This was my second Cirque du Soleil show and it was even better than the first! My husband and I had a good time watching the acrobatics and unique bug costumes of the performers. We were afraid the show would take three hours because we had to get home to our little one but it was actually less than that, which was perfect because it was neither too long nor too short. Even though we've seen many of the moves before (such as the Chinese acrobatics), it was great to see it a part of a theme and storyline. While the storyline did have some funny moments that were a bit sexual in nature, I don't think it was inappropriate for kids, who wouldn't have understood it at that level yet. It was great that they picked out members of the audience to participate on stage and messed around with people who sat in front before the show started (butterfly nets over heads). I did wish there was more of a concrete finale to the story of the egg, it did not bother me that it was never fully addressed at the end. We noticed the arena was shrunk in size for the show and felt it was a good size. We had seats towards the side and were able to see everything well. read more
