The pickleball setup at OWA is really nice. I especially appreciated the friendly atmosphere. It's a good spot for pickleball.

Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. We paid over $250 to spend just a few hours at the park before storms rolled in around 2:30 p.m. By about 4:00, the skies had cleared--but the park never reopened. With two full hours left in the published schedule, and clear weather outside, the day was over. I reached out to management, which is when the situation really took a turn for the worst. Their proposal - a rain check for a future visit. Problem is--we came all the way from Colorado. A "come back next time" credit just isn't helpful when you've spent that kind of money and have no plans to return. We've visited waterparks in multiple states--Arizona, Texas, Colorado--and have never experienced this kind of early closure after a storm passed. Most parks resume operations when it's safe. Not here. Beyond that: You're not allowed to bring in your own water, which is a challenge on hot Alabama days. Several lifeguards at the wave pool seemed more focused on chatting and flirting than on guest safety. The park itself feels a bit rundown and in need of investment. This may once have been the place to go in Orange Beach. But based on our experience, I'd suggest exploring other options for your family day. There are better values--and more responsive customer service--elsewhere. Incidentally, I made numerous attempts to resolve this issue with management, to no avail. They were unwilling to help and (eventually) completely unresponsive.

So, two people in our party had to pay full price for no rides. There was a long wait at the front to get into the park, because only one employee was working. Not really sure what they were doing because they gave us a wrist band for the water park even though we only paid for the theme park. We were as confused as they were. We went during Thanksgiving week so the weather was cooler, but there wasn't much of a wait for any rides. Our daughter wasn't tall enough to ride everything (only 38"), but we still managed to have a good time. They have a lot of rides for the smaller kids. My wife and I enjoyed the roller coaster the best. We took advantage of the low wait times and rode the roller coaster several times. Definitely worth checking out.

I traveled from Birmingham and spent a significant amount of money to bring my children to Tropic Falls for the indoor waterpark. Unfortunately, my experience ended up being extremely disappointing and embarrassing. After climbing several flights of stairs to ride a float attraction with my son, I was asked to step on a scale in front of multiple guests waiting in line. I was then told publicly that I exceeded the weight limit and could not ride any float attractions. Another guest even asked if I could ride solo instead, and again, in front of everyone, I was told I exceeded the limit. I completely understand and respect ride safety policies and weight restrictions. My concern is not that safety rules exist. My concern is the lack of clear disclosure beforehand and how the situation was handled publicly. The website states: "All Riders: Maximum Weight of Rider = 250 lbs. Double Riders: Maximum Combined Weight of Riders = 400 lbs." Based on that wording, I believed my son and I qualified for a double float ride as long as we were under the combined limit. If the policy is that no rider over 250 lbs can ride any float attraction regardless of combined weight, I feel that should be made much clearer before ticket purchase. What hurt the most was being weighed and having my weight discussed in front of strangers and my child. My son no longer wanted to ride afterward, and I walked away feeling embarrassed and unable to participate in the attractions I came to enjoy with my son. I have reached out to management privately because I wanted to give them the opportunity to address my concerns first. However, I also feel it's fair to make others aware so they can make informed decisions before visiting. I truly hope policies are communicated more clearly and situations like this are handled with more privacy and sensitivity in the future.

Let's start with all the outdated hazardous equipment. I wouldn't let my worst enemy on some of those rides. Then the mini golf area? How hard is it to pick up trash and blow the leaves off the course. All the "shortcut" pipes need a good cleaning. Lost 3 balls on hole 3. The gocarts? Lucky if they have 7 working at any given time. Lazertag. Same. Only 7 players could go at a time. Don't get me started on the concessions. The day after the 4th, a worker said, "sorry, we didn't expect this rush." It was midday on a Saturday. We didn't try the water park and based on how bad everything else is, won't ever give it a go. Tear this place down.

When I read about the price drop, all I could think of was that since they've chopped the price down, it will seriously be packed the entire time they are open. I'm so glad that I purchased this anyway because it being overcrowded was completely unfounded. When I arrive, I get a float & enter the lazy river (don't think that's the correct name!) and I just float away - for hours. I have a lower back issue so to be in the water on a float - it takes out all the pressure on my lower back! They play music, they have a snack bar, and the staff is wonderful! You are not allowed to bring in snacks/drinks so just know that upfront. I also love the area where it's really shallow & little children are mostly there. Because they have this huge "pail" that continually fills up w/water. Then they tip the pail to where all the water dumps into the shallow pool. I think a bell rings or something so you have a few seconds to grab your child if you are worried they might get scared/knocked over. I can vouch for what force the pail tips over as far as the water coming out of it. I knew they were about to tip the pail over & it's so much fun plus you really get cooled off. What I did not know - however - was to grab my top because the pail of water comes down really quickly and my top came down with it. After I regrouped, I got out of the water to get my sunscreen when a lifeguard approached me. I was pretty sure he was going to ask me to leave, and that this is a "family" type atmosphere and to please stop terrorizing the children. But he ended up asking me where I had purchased my bracelet. Crisis averted! I love this place so much!!!

We haven't been to Destin in a few years, and we looked forward to this activity which had been a staple of our summers for years. First, when we pulled up (this was early evening, after dinner), I wasn't even sure it was open. We felt like the Griswolds going to Wally World. We walked around the corner and found someone at the ticket booth and a few other people waiting to buy tickets. We purchased without a wait, got our putters, and went to the first hole of the yellow course. It was very quickly evident that the place is in a terrible state of disrepair. Splintered and rotted wood all over - railings, posts, stair treads, handrails, walkways, etc. There were nails that had worked out of the wood and sticking out. There were at least two places where a board from the walkway was sticking up enough to be a tripping hazard. Carpet on the playing surfaces was torn and shredded, to the point that play was impaired on a few holes. There was a lot of standing, stagnant water in some areas, including in one of the putting holes, so an absolute breeding ground for mosquitos. This was such a disappointing experience. I kept wishing I had gone back after a couple of holes and demanded my money back. I cannot recommend Big Kahuna's for anyone.

Most of the negative reviews here are all for the floating waterpark experience. Moving on, we booked online for renting their jet skis and came in to sign our waivers. If you have anyone in your party under 25 years old who will drive a jet ski or boat, they are required to get a license (anyone born on or after January 1st, 1988). Navarre Family Watersports provides a Florida Boaters Temporary Safety Certificate after they pass a test, which takes about 30 minutes to complete. The certificate is valid for 30 days. Our instructor was great. He went over all the proper safety protocols, explained how to operate this particular model of jet ski, answered all our questions, and took us around for about an hour. Then we had another hour to enjoy ourselves. We did the two-hour ride. You get to cruise around the east side of the Navarre Beach Causeway Bridge, which is the Santa Rosa Sound to Makaph Island (Spectre) and back. Keep in mind that they will tell you there are no sharks in the Santa Rosa Sound. However, the Pensacola Bay, East Bay, and Santa Rosa Sound are all fed from the Gulf. It's saltwater... We had no issues, and the noise will scare the sharks and stingrays away. Dolphins, on the other hand, will follow you around for a bit, which is super cool. My kids came back another day and did the ropes course, which they loved. Overall, we had a great time. I would recommend their jetskis and obstacle course. [Review #711] (9th Review of 2024)

Weather did not cooperate on full pool day, wind was 20 mph on the roof top and the water temp was 60F (not heated) but my 7 and 11yo couldn't have cared less and enjoyed the whole pool to themselves. We went back the next morning to enjoy a more enjoyable pool weather. Kudos to the pool attendants. They were super attentive and interacted with the kids to encourage fun like slide races. That didn't go unnoticed! Rooms were very nice. We had one with a king and double size bunk beds (best idea ever for a family resort! What siblings want to share a bed?) Arcade was a blast. We grabbed coffee in the cafe (attendant was super patient with us as we tried to spend the rest of our credits the last day) We grabbed a pizza at the restaurant near the arcade which was passable (the crust in the cheese pizza was way better than the specialty) but the beer and cocktails were great. Did not get to visit the Pier due to wind. We didn't have a terrible experience with the elevators because the resort was not busy but could see how they would get really bogged down at peak. Addition of the express elevator to the pool was smart. Did not like that our pool bands were our key cards. Get that the band makes sense for the pool but means I had to wear all trip for fear of loosing and having to pay $50 for a new one. Overall would recommend a visit!

We are absolutely never going to come back and we would never recommend anyone else come. #1- rooms and resort are not very clean. Our room had fruit flies on day one and it only got worse when we brought one open bag of chips into the room. The carpet was nasty and made our socks and feet black on the bottoms. Carpets around the resort were stained and dingy and our whole floor smelled like weed. #2- pool and water playground area leave much to be desired. The pool itself is very small, the kids play area is small as well and the ground of it is not even slightly soft. The lazy river was ok but looked super cheap and worn and got really crowded. The entire pool area has no where near enough chairs or umbrellas, and there isn't any shade or open area at all. On Saturday people were literally just sitting in the ground in direct sun. Also no lifeguards or anyone seeming to be watching the pool area as far as management because I saw a few people very obviously vaping and no one did anything. #3- food at the margaritaville restaurant was mid at best. A salad and the burger were good but the margarita was nasty and the breakfast omelet had no seasoning just a ton of oil. #4- no water fountains anywhere. Literally felt impossible to fill up a water bottle unless you bought bottled. Had an ice machine on our floor thankfully but no water fountains throughout the resort. #5- no housekeeping turnover unless you stay over 3 nights but they're supposed to come do trash and towels. Well one day they came and took trash and dropped off new towels but left all the dirties and the next day they just left a bag on the door with trash bags and towels. Our son enjoyed the arcade a lot but the games were pretty pricey to play. The paradise pier is literally built on top of a parking garage and has zero shade and gets so hot. It's pretty small and rides were expensive. The room was pretty spacious and every employee we encountered was super nice so there is that. For the price you pay ($950 for 3 nights), you would expect so much more and it's extremely lacking.
