Stopped in for lunch at the Owl Street Cafe. Good food, reasonable prices. Cheese burger is juicy, 5 oz. beef patty is handmade and very tasty. Hubby had the Montreal Smoke Meat sandwich with beef barley soup, he gobbled down both and said they were excellent. Another customer ordered the lamb shank and it looked amazing. After a long drive it was great to see this rustic (owl themed) diner off the side of the road. However when we got inside the kitchen was over whelmed and the cashier told us all to leave! Yeah, the cafe straight up refused to serve customers. The woman in charge said they were too busy and not taking any more orders. There wasn't much inside seating anyways. There may have only been 3 staff members working and about 20 people wanting to eat there. Disappointing. No cafe should be over whelmed by a moderate amount of people wanting to eat there. This quirky visually inviting business didn't have what it takes to provide food or service for their customers on this day. read more

Hours into our drive from Vancouver to Penticton it was time to eat lunch! We discovered this place and loved the grilled cheese sandwich and chicken sandwich! Darn it... not open on Sunday when we drive back...oh well.... we know this place and will certainly stop again for delicious food and good service! There are new people running this restaurant. The evening was beautiful and we sat outside - extremely pleasant! The menu was interesting and I took the chance on NZ lamb shank. My husband had the ahi tuna. Both the lamb and the tuna were outstanding. A homemade salad dressing would have made this perfect. Their website is still not updated and they are open for dinner. Delicious, healthy home-cooked meals and espresso drinks with accommodating alternatives, such as soy milk, gluten-free toast. Tables are unique being horizontally cut and varnished trees, it was a bit tough to pull up our son's high chair to. It was busy and not a quick meal, but well worth it. read more

The food is delicious! After my first bite into the sandwich, I actually leaned back and said "wow!" Everyone in my family was blown away by how good the sandwiches are. We drove from Banff to Vancouver and those sandwiches were one of the best meal we had on the trip! Of course the owl decorations was an added bonus to the delicious meal! read more

They still charged us the full $7.25 for a breakfast sandwich even though we ordered it without any meat, which I think is a pretty ridiculous thing. Extremely overpriced. I stopped there last year for a bowl of chilli. They charged me 8 bucks for a tiny foam bowl of chilli that was slightly less than half the size of a small bowl of chilli at Timmy's. The one at Timmy's would have been half the price. The chilli wasn't bad, but it did NOT midi an eight dollar price tag. Anywhere else, a similarly sized bowl of chilli would have been $2.50 at the most. Almost forgot - I waited about 20 minutes for that chilli, and the place was not busy. read more

We get together once a month and Sonia is very accommodating and she prepares a fantastic meal for us at a reasonable price.
