And although there isn't much competition around here, I would still say that this restaurant is worth a stop. The staff are all super friendly. The view of the lake is great. And the food is good. I got the breakfast wrap, which has a healthy portion of eggs and sauteed veggies. It tastes phenomenal and I would most certainly get it again. I had mine with fruit, which was fresh, but having tried the potatoes, I think that's the way to go! The only note is that they do put the salsa in the wrap, and so it does tend to leak out the bottom. The rest of the table got the salmon lox which looked phenomenal. Large portions of smoked salmon. The scrambled eggs are fluffy. And the onions and capers add really nice acidity. I am not a coffee or tea drinker, so unfortunately I can't speak to their drinks too well.

They were kind enough to seat me before 7:00 when I showed up early, and the lady who took my order was friendly. Other guests showed up quickly, and some of them got served before me, but i was in no hurry. Coffee came quickly, though refills ... not so fast. It took a while for my plate to arrive, but again, I was in no hurry. It was a nice place to sit and watch the morning crowd. Not elegant, but perfectly fine.

I had their Cookies'n'Cream cake, which I found very rich yet enjoyable throughout eating it. The interior of the cafe is very modern-looking with a lot of space. I like the mild lighting inside the business and the fact that they use garden lights and antiquated furniture adds some hospitable quality to it. The staff were very courteous when I was there, even when they were busy hosting the party. Overall, this is an excellent café to go to frequent at and would very much like to stop there again.

My partner got bubble tea and the mega breakfast sandwich - essentially a bagel with omelette-like egg, tomato, cheese, and avocado. Both the tea and the sandwich were fine. But I do want to be clear -- this is a coffee house, not a sit-down restaurant. It is busy, and you kind of fend for yourself. The fact that they make breakfast or sandwiches in the back doesn't turn this into a restaurant with table service.

I will agree and disagree with some of these reviews from a perspective of a tourist but also someone who eats out a lot. The good: food was good, staff was friendly, ambience was enjoyable sitting outside near the lake in the shade. Family enjoyed the food, especially the fish although our pieces were crumbling and falling apart just touching them to move to other plates. Fries were good, tenders were good. Tartar sauce had a slight honey mustard taste which was a nice change. The bad: prices have gone up since last persons post 9 months ago. Items have increased $2-$3 dollars since then. Someone claiming the burgers were huge and could barely finish half of one, also confirmed by staff they were huge, was not so the case. It was a standard size burger I would compare to slightly shorter than a Big Mac at McDonald's. Other critique was the gravy on the poutine was slightly on the salty side as well. Dining bonus they give you 10% of at picnics ice cream and dessert place that is located next door. Overall it was a nice lunch but will cost you a considerate amount being in a tourist area. Our bill was $89 before tips for a family of 5 with a toddler sharing 3 entrees and drinking water.

Even the hashbrowns were great on their own. I also had their Mennonite Poutine, which is highly recommended by their waitresses. The Schamaunt Fat sauce is very unique in taste and the Rempel's sausage is so good that I would want to buy the meat myself. The inside of the place has a modern look to it and feels very welcoming, despite the unsightly location. Common Place is still a highly recommended place to eat for morning and afternoon meals.
