I genuinely don't understand how this place accumulates so many positive reviews. If you care about your watches, please read this before stepping in. I brought my vintage Rolex Oysterdate 6694 (1963) here for a standard movement service. Being new to the country, I needed a trusted watchmaker for my vintage pieces, and I fell for his claims of being a "former Rolex watchmaker" and his high Google rating. The technician originally quoted me $890 tax included for a full overhaul, with a one-month turnaround promised. Exactly 6 days later, he called saying it was ready. My BS detector immediately went off. He then claimed the price would be higher because he "had to replace the mainspring with a genuine Rolex part," for an extra $250. Let's be clear: in a standard overhaul, the mainspring change is always included in the base price. Furthermore, a mainspring is a completely blank, generic part, there is no such thing as a "Rolex branded mainspring" or any markings on it. When I challenged him and told him to put my old spring back, the price magically dropped from $250 to $125. A 50% discount on a "premium branded component" the second you ask questions? Shady. When I went to pick up the watch, the "welcoming" guy from before was gone, replaced by a sour and defensive attitude. I asked for the timegrapher report and the waterproof pressure test results, standard documentation provided by any real watchmaker. He refused, claiming he "doesn't do that" and that I just had to trust him. When I insisted, he aggressively diverted the conversation. Worse: the crooked dial feet I had specifically asked him to fix were still completely crooked. He tried to "fix it" on the spot in a rush, but again diverted the conversation, and ultimately did nothing. I had a timegrapher report from before his "service." The amplitude was a bit low, meaning the watch did need a service, or that the spring was a bit worn, nothing that cleaning and oiling wouldn't have fixed. The rest: 0s/day (perfect), 0.5 to 0.9ms beat error (near perfect, but suggestive of an aging spring). I went back home and put it on my own timegrapher. Result post service: +9.9s/day, 1.7 to 2.2ms beat error... the beat error indicates it was never tuned, he simply slapped a new spring in and closed the watch. Worse, a beat error that high prematurely wears out everything inside. Since, I bought a professional timegrapher. The readings were even worse than before. +183s/day, +2.3ms beat second. To top it all off, he added an illegal credit card surcharge to the final bill. On an initial verbal quote of $890 tax included, I ended up paying $1134.80 before taxes... I sent him texts, emails (that bounced back), asking him to: 1. show me the spring's packaging, 2. give me back the old spring, 3. explain why the readings were worse than before, 4. fix the crooked dial as he said he would. He never replied. I took it to my bank and credit card company, and here's what's interesting: they had received complaints about him before, apparently he operated under multiple names. I got a chargeback. PS: I went to Rolex to service another watch and mentioned him. They know him very well, but he is not, and never was, a watchmaker for them... and issuing a document to prove former employment or even an authorized service center is absolutely impossible. So the Rolex letter behind his desk? Probably forged. PS2: I went back in my hometown where I have a trusted watchmaker, I brought it to him. He confirmed the spring is indeed new, but the wrong reference for this watch, too "strong," likely the incorrect part. He had to clean and oil the whole thing again, as some oils were too thick, others too thin, and some were simply dirty. He told me it was unlikely the waterproof test had ever been run, as the gasket was dry and improperly seated. Which makes me wonder: what did this guy actually do to my watch, besides slapping in an overpriced, wrong spring? read more

Not inexpensive, but not outrageous either, and for the convenience of having battery replaced and gasket/seals checked while I stepped away for 20 minutes for a different errand, it was well worth it. Quickest watch service I've ever gotten--the watch I took in was a Tag Heuer I've had since 1995; I have consistently had it serviced every few years since then. read more

I had a knock-off band on my Swatch that the swatch location at the Eaton centre would not alter (I wanted 2 additional holes punched in the thin silicone band). They said any jewellery place would do it. I went to 3 different jewelry places in the mall, and none of them would help me. The last store directed me to Fossil. The guy working there told me that he couldn't help me, but that Yosef at the Swiss Watchery, across the street, should be able to help me! I walked in the Swiss watchery, was promptly directed to Yosef, and he perfectly punctured 2 extra holes, no questions asked, and didn't even charge me a dime. I was in and out in probably less than 30 seconds - he was THAT quick and efficient. Thank you Yosef, you made one happy woman and definitely a future customer! *Buyer Beware* Location Known To Incentivize 5 Star Reviews** Would not recommend... I gave this business my Jacob & Co 4 timezone watch for 5 battery replacements. The over the phone price quickly was inflated as it was a "difficult job"... I agreed to the new price as I made the commute to the store. Upon picking up my watch, I noticed one of the time zones was not working... and the watch hands seemed to have been shifted. He mentioned the hour hand being offset and stated that's how I gave it to him... He then offered to fix it, but I found it odd as it was perfectly fine upon servicing.After reading several reviews, its clear that this shop has a history of watches being returned broken. What I found shocking is that he replaced all of the batteries on the time zones and "set the time"... but failed to realize one of the time zones wasn't working... Seems very shady. The owner is known to boast about his reputable work experience working for Rolex.... upon further discovery, his claim is heavily over stated... Also, as mentioned in multiple reviews, the owners attitude needs heavy improvement. Overall, don't trust the reviews as this business is known to incentivize 5 star reviews (review for discount... etc)... This store is known to capitalize on un-informed patrons & tourists due to its location. I recommend avoiding this location at all costs. read more

His prices are reasonable and his customer service is stellar. The owner knows what he's doing and I would trust him to work on my watches. That said, he's not overly friendly and more importantly he is absurdly overpriced. I have a large number of watches and have worked with multiple watchmakers - he charged me $40 to change a strap. That is laughable. Better to go elsewhere in my opinion. read more

Terrible experience! I walked in tonight with two watches that needed new batteries. I was quoted $15 for one and $18 for the other. Since this was more than I usually pay elsewhere, I hesitated. At that point, I was told $15 for each battery replacement and there would be a 1 year guaranty. After the work was done, I asked for a receipt. At that point I was told that there was no guaranty and the repair person wrote "no guaranty" on the receipt. An hour later the battery on one of the watches died. If you decide to go to this place, I suggest you pay using your credit card because you'll be able to dispute the charge afterwards if you have a similar unsatisfactory experience. read more

I broke the crown of my watch and needed it fixed. The guy seemed nice enough. Fixed it for $60 in about an hour. Fast and efficient. 2 months later I was caught in a thunderstorm - it poured rain while I was wearing the watch. I noticed it got foggy inside the watch. Then the crown would not work when I tried to adjust the date or time. Went to Thornhill Time as I was in the area and the guy there fixed the watch. Mentioned that it was not done right the first time as the crown was incorrectly installed. A sloppy job resulting in the leak. This guy replaced my crown and water proofed the watch charging only $30. Oyster time ripped me off and I feel horrible about paying the man $60 for sloppy work, when the job could have been done right at half the price. AVOID this place and find a more reputable repair man. read more

I came in by recommendation to have a watch fixed and I am extremely impressed by the service I received. Not only was the watch able to be fixed (a big relief to hear after being turned down help at many other places) but it was fixed right on the spot. I visited Oyster Time Watch Repair to have my Jacob & Co watch repaired. Previously I went to two other watch repair shops and although they couldn't even open my watch since they didn't have the appropriate tools to do so they gave me a quote of roughly $40-$100. (I was skeptical that someone can give me quote without actually knowing what the issue was. After seeing all the google reviews of Oyster Time Watch Repair I decided to bring my watch there. The shop is located near the Eaton Centre just south of Yonge and Dundas on the East side of the street in the Jewelry fleet market, in a little booth. (FYI he does not show up till after 12pm eastern time) The gentlemen is very nice and professional. He indicated that he had all the parts if needed to fix my watch and that if I was okay with him fixing the watch if the total came to less than $100 if not he would call me to confirm the costs. He did indeed call me to inform me that the movement needed repairs (Which I also predicted) and that the cost would be $250. I was more than okay with this, my watch has been working perfectly since and I'm more than happy with the service I received which by the way took three days. read more

Excellent experience coming here today! I had gotten the band of my apple watch stuck and after a disappointing appointment at the apple store, I stumbled across swiss watchery and I couldn't be happier. He took the watch and noted how stuck the band really was. He offered to keep it for an hour to see what he could do. He called me back within 40 minutes and had fixed it perfectly! I own a brand name watch that only certain jewellers can work on, and because of that these other jewellers take advantage of me with service costs. The owner of this shop is not expensive and is qualified. If you own a high end watch and are tired of paying too much for service, bring your watch here. Yusuf changed my Tissot battery. I used to have it changed at the Swatch repair centre. After years of paying the exorbitant prices I looked up an alternative and found Oyster. Yusuf was very polite and forthcoming. He was also extremely reasonable. Within 10 minutes my watch was up and running again, and he also pressure tested it and provided me with a printed copy of the results. He is a very fine person as well. They changed my Tissot Touch battery and pressure tested in 20 minutes today. All for only $60. A few years ago I had it done at Birks for more than double and it took 2 weeks to get it back. My 13 year old watch is still works perfectly. read more

Wasted numerous hours of my time. Says fix would take 1 hour. Then makes me come back on the hour every hour for 6 hours! wasted a whole day. Second, he was just replacing something cosmetic and then the watch breaks 2 days after. Does not warantee his fix and tries to get me to spend another $100 for a tune and cleanup that it never needed until he got his hands into my watch. Looks like he tampered with watch becuase as i was leaving after first fix he koily said "bring it back if it breaks". Very very very shady and impolite. read more
