This place is such a STL Staple. Fresh produce, local food vendors, and people selling their body…read moreoils, fragrances, foods and more. Prices on everything is reasonable. It gets crowded on the weekends. If you try and stagger the time that you go, it may not be as busy. Parking is meter/paid parking, but you may luck up and find free parking. It's a must if you are ever visiting STL or if you simply want to go to the farmers market!! I love going to the Soulard spice shop. It is one of my favourites.I have a few preferred produce stands i love going to for fresh fruits and vegetables. And don't forget about the flower shop.

Review Title: 4 Easy steps to 52 Saturdays of CONTROLLED CHAOS!…read more The MUST-DO thing for all St. Louis'ians and Non-St. Louis'ians. But you gotta do it right! Step 1: Schedule a Saturday off to yourself (yes, the Market's open Wed-Sat, but you get 100% vendorship on Saturdays) Step 2: Set your alarm clock EARLY! The trick is the "when" do you get there? Wait til the later hours of the day.. and every shop will be empty that you went for! I've learned this too many times in my sleep-in days, to get there way too late to find so many of the shops sold out, or the "runts" of the sales left. So figure out Early and then getup before then! Step 3: Get in your car and go shopping!!! (Follow the map of course!) Plain and simple you want fresh produce.. this is where you go. Whether it's veggies,. meats, baked goods, coffee, soaps, sweets, snacks, and even alchy beverages if you so desire! (and you just might as the day goes on) Get there early and load up! (Just warning you, you may have to make a few runs between your shops and your car, considering what you -could- load up on. Now as stated by many, it's a smorgasboard of what you can find, all along the entire market. (but just a word of advice, whatever you buy at the market, please clean and store PROPERLY as soon as you get home, this is a farmer's market and you can lose some fresh produce REALLY QUICK!) And just remember you're going to have to fight your way through the crowds. because EVERYONE and their relative knows to come here. (Picture yourself in a demolition derby with everyone.. cause that's what it's going to feel llike... Controlled Chaos! **See I knew I'd fit the title in here somewhere*) I will admit you there are some vendors that sell the usual "touristy wares" on occasion, such as "gold jewelry", Sports uniforms (Battlehawks, Cardinals, Blues), you know the quick .. touristy stuff. But the real value is the food and the food 'trucks', including BBQ , New Orleans style cuisine, mediterranean.. you know everything you can find at a farmer's market :) STEP 4: And to top off the day. a real daiquiri or bloody mary to seal the deal! And there you have it folks... 4 steps to a Controlled Chaos of a Saturday in the Lou!!

Great place for a variety of fresh produce…read more I got huge, red tomatoes, last Thursday, August 6. My girlfriend got half a watermelon and tomatoes. Also available: cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, peaches, radishes, cauliflower, plums, celery, cantaloupe, green beans, eggplant, garlic, jalapeno peppers. Much, much more. I don't know any place where you can get half a seedless watermelon. But they had a half ready for my girlfriend -- all wrapped up -- and it was beautiful. It comes from Sikeston. The folks are so friendly and personable, as are the patrons. The address is Delmar, but the open-air market is really behind the shops on Delmar along the huge parking lot that spans east from Cicero's for a couple blocks. It's adjacent to Midtown Farmers Market.

If you go up and down every aisle, it's like a trip around the world…read more As you shop, you will find items that you didn't know you needed. Also, don't be afraid to ask employees questions, they'll be happy to assist. My last visit, I was with a friend who was shopping to make spring rolls and he got assistance from a little old Vietnamese lady who was a customer herself. Listening to her explain all the detailed steps made us both smile. Be smart when shopping the canned goods, some items can be more expensive. However, the fresh vegetables are always a good value. The meat department makes me cringe, but I know that is just me being quirky. My friend gives it a thumbs up. Customer service is okay, nothing outstanding and nothing bad. It's just okay. The cashiers get you out the door in an orderly way.

-- Great Selection, But Room for Improvement…read more Jay International Food is one of my go-to spots for variety -- you can find ingredients and products here that are hard to track down anywhere else in St. Louis. The international selection is truly impressive, and it's the main reason I keep coming back. That said, the store could use a little TLC. While I've noticed improvements over time, it would be even better with a deeper, more consistent clean. The staff gets the job done, but a bit more warmth and friendliness would go a long way toward making the shopping experience as inviting as the selection itself. Bottom line: I'll keep shopping here because the variety is unbeatable, but I'm hoping to see the atmosphere match the amazing products on the shelves.
