Stopped by the Harriman, NY location at 11:00 am for a car inspection. Was told to come back at 1:00 pm. Okay, fine. Came back at 1:00 pm and now with an appointment, waited two hours before car was brought into the shop for the inspection. Inspection was performed, very thoroughly, actually too thoroughly. Was told my car needed a cabin filter and a bulb that was out in the trunk. When did those two things become part of NY's safety inspection? When they couldn't find anything wrong with the car that has over 200k in miles. Shops don't make money on inspections unless they find things to fail you for. Never going back to this shop..............ever. read more

I liked these guys for a while, but after I bought their "club" for oil changes and discounts on service, they basically destroyed my car. The club costs $300 a year and provides free oil changes. The club offers a loaner car while your car is in for repair--it was never available on any of the three times I left the car there. My car is older, began misfiring, so my wife took it in and it was diagnosed that it needed new coils. The coils were replaced, but they broke the valve cover, which is a necessary part to keep the coils cooled. They also worked on the exhaust, which had a leak, but they failed to cure the leak. The hood has a difficult to find latch, off center, and they damaged the hood, denting it severely--I didn't notice the damage until a day after picking up the car, so I couldn't prove it was them, but it was. The coils failed again less than two weeks later and we took it to another mechanic who noted that not only had they not changed the oil, but they had not changed the oil filter, either. After they worked on it, the coils were bad, the exhaust leaked, the hood is dented, we had to replace an o2 sensor, and, over three months later and having spent another 2700 on two other mechanics for continuous problems, all of which can be traced back to the original service, our car still hasn't passed inspection. I would give 0 stars is possible. Took my car to Ozzy's for a simple NY State Inspection. Guy came back and said it failed inspection. Wrote up a laundry list (that equaled more than the car is worth!!) of things that would "need to be done for it to pass." Oh. And, of course I still had to pay Ozzy's $40 for the failed inspection! This sent up several red flags. 2 days later I take the car to a shop down the road from Ozzy's for an inspection. Well, wuddyaknow!? I'll be damned. The car PASSED NY State inspection and required $0 in extra work to do so. Scum bags like Ozzy's is exactly why the auto body industry has the negative rep it does. Lying, deceiving and trying to take every dime they can out of any potential "customers" pocket. That's Ozzy's unethical motto. BEWARE! read more

First time @ Ozzys. No pressure sales on which set of tires to purchase. Estimated wait time was as accurate as they could be for a busy garage. Waiting room is full-- a good sign that others chose them. I felt they were honest in what they told me. One drawback for many, including myself: somewhat pricey. The small discount that they may apply is a drop in the bucket. Will return if I ever have a major repair needed. I need reliability, which they have proven. read more

I wish I can give zero star or minus 1000 stars. The front desk people lie in your face and it is encouraged by the owner. Took my car for inspection as it is next to my workplace. That convenience is not worth the amount of dishonesty and blatant theft they commit. They said I need oil and oil filter change and also cabin air filter change. You will initially think $37 for inspection is decent price. But that's their way of fleecing off more money for unnecessary car repair. I literally changed the oil filter and oil changed a month ago at the dealer and the receipt was still in my glove box. I changed the air filter myself. So they wouldn't pass the inspection but they took the money. I will contact BBB and I urge everybody to contact BBB. This is day light robbery. read more

The worst unscrupulous car mechanic shop. I brought both of my cars here for inspection and they quote astronomical price for products. They recommended tires change on both of my cars and air filter change. I told them I changed the air filter a week ago and in response the lady at desk looks at me blank face and just says then you probably don't need them. So basically you are told you need something done that you may not need to begin with. Then I said I want to buy tire off online and install at other place, they gave me unimpressed look and says they can't pass the inspection. Yes I don't want their tire. Their price for the same tire and installment is huge compared to other competitors. Unless you have a very new car that is 3 or 4 years old and only need inspection, this shop is not for you. read more

A few weeks ago I brought the 2016 Volvo XC 70 in to have them check a message about a low battery charge. I also asked them to do the 40,000 mile service. The wait was about 3 hours and the bill about $400. A few days later there was a message to get immediate service because of low anti-freeze. We went back to Ozzys and they added a lot of anti freeze. It appears that they drained the antifreeze as part of the 40K service but did not add new antifreeze. A few days later the message about a low battery charge came back so we again went back to Ozzy's. This time we had to leave the car overnight so that they could cold start it in the AM. They now came back with a report that the alternator was low. After charging me $400 for the service and battery they then charged another $60 for this diagnostic test that they should have done before replacing the battery or as part of the 40K service. This would have been another huge expense so we decided we needed to go to Volvo since the car was still under warranty. Volvo checked out the car and found that the alternator was fine. The problem was that after Ozzy put in a new battery (now I am not sure one was even needed) they failed to reset the message indicator system. Ozzy told us that the alternator probably needed replacement and this would have been another expensive job. I am glad I went back to the dealer but the dealer did charge me $60 to diagnose and remedy the problem created by Ozzy in their failure to reset the message. I am not too upset about the original $400 that I paid for the 40K servie and battery but the two $60 charges due to Ozzy's failure to reset the message indicators really sticks in by craw. read more

Never bring your car here I made the mistake 3 times and every time I went for an oil change they claimed I had a problem with my car. I have been going to Ozzy's for over ten years. I have Subaru Outback with over 140K miles. They always do a consistently good job and I've never felt I was being taken advantage. The service is always professional, including status update phone calls. They have caught things even the dealership (Curry Subaru) missed or did not fix correctly the first time. Went there for a tires, alignment check and an oil change. Got the tires, they said and charged me for an alignment and the oil change.. the alignment is still out of whack and they never put oil back in the car after they changed the filter! Oil light and check engine came on the next day. Will never go back there again. read more

Would give 0 stars if possible... Every single time I go here it's for something simple like an inspection or oil change and everytime they claim my car needs something more. Get a second opinion before agreeing to anything. They will try to rip you off every time. They charged me $77 for an oil change and when confronted they told me my car needed special oil and who ever did it last time put the wrong oil in. I had gotten it done there last time. Got two flats from a pothole on our way to hike upstate. Ozzy is literally the nicest person and the prices were def fair. However, we were told it would be about 45 minutes for new tires and it took 3 hours...granted this was Memorial Day weekend on a Sunday so I'm happy they were even open, but still... a lot of local regulars were in and out while we waited so they def take care of their clients so perhaps just a fluke and they were busy maybe short handed or something. Just bought a 2003 Jeep Wrangler. Brought it here for my NYS inspection and to have them check it out. Vehicle was in good shape, but they recommended I change some of the gaskets and belts that were starting to wear and I needed to flush my transmission fluid...reasonable for an 11 year old Jeep. I was also experiencing the "Jeep Death Wobble" and they knew exactly how to fix it. Price was reasonable, but I did have to wait. They threw in a free oil change. A few days later I noticed a weird sound in the engine, turns out one of the belts snapped. They took care of it at no cost, even picked me up from the train station at the end of the day to get the car. Loving my new Jeep...no wobble and it's running great. read more

We always bring our cars to Ozzy's for service & we are never disappointed. I work nearby & recently had a dead battery when I left work. When I called Ozzy's & asked for help, they had someone come to me in less than 15 minutes to jump the battery. I brought my car right in to the shop to get a new battery - which they did right away. Unfortunately I also needed an alternator, so the car had to stay overnight. They even arranged a ride home for me!! This review is identical to one I made to Google, in case it looks familiar...Price wise, this shop is on the low side of average for the area. In terms of the quality of work, they are way on the high side. I have found them honest, knowledgeable and competent. I am one of those folks who usually waits while the car is serviced and I don't believe I've seen an unsatisfied customer there on many visits. I've bought a few sets of tires and have had alignment and brake work done. My cars have had some minor modifications for suspension and exhaust and they have been respectful of these. This is not a guys only shop, the owner visits with his customers in the waiting area regularly. I've seen many customers of both sexes given respectful understanding of the needs for their vehicle maintenance without pressure, with the options given to save time and money for upcoming work. read more

My wife dropped off a tire early in the morning for them to plug. This was our first time going to Ozzy's on a friend's suggestion. By 3 o'clock the tire was yet to be looked at. They said they were going to look at it at that moment. They plugged the tire and due to the delay there was no charge. I was all on board until I put the tide back on the car and overnight it was flat again. Sloppy work and no consideration for other people's time is not a good way to do business. If no stars were possible, I'd have chosen that. Brought in my pristine 2015 SUV in at 12:40pm on a Saturday to patch a tire with a nail in it, was told by the woman behind the counter it would 20 to 30 minutes... Specifically asked if they had the equipment to unmount a tire from newer vehicles with lipless design factory wheels, was told "Yes, they but there was no guarantees they wouldn't nick the wheel in the process". A "nick" or so on the wheel is certainly acceptable due to what's required in the removal process of the tire from the rim. So one hour later they finally bring the car in and put it up on the lift & remove the wheel in need of patching. An hour and a half later the vehicle is still up on the lift with the wheel removed... At just under the two hour mark I asked the same woman behind the counter when I could expect the car to be done, to which I was advised "20 minutes of so, as they have to remove the tire from the rim to patch it...". I reminded her she told me 20 to 30 minutes 2 hours ago. She then corrected me indicating she initially said it would take 20 to 30 minutes to get the car in. When I gave her the car keys there was absolutely no mention of "getting the car in". I explained that she never said that when I gave her the keys, to which she came back with a snotty/scarcastic reply, "Well next time I'll say it louder!". Umm, wow - strike one! At 2:50pm they finally drive the vehicle out of the bay to their front parking lot, and sure enough when I go examine the wheel they worked on there are 2 large deep gouges/scratches in the previously pristine machined surface face of the rim. So much for having the right equipment if the technician simply doesn't care! I then went inside to pay for the flat repair and advised the woman behind the counter of my dissatisfaction on the damage of the rim, but I never argued about paying them for the work they did. She ran my charge card and asked me to sign the charge card slip (which I did) and then handed me back the same slip I signed along with their work order receipt. A few moments later she was frantically looking for the slip, which I asked her if she meant the same slip she gave it back to me with the work order, yet again - another snotty /carsactic reply accusing me of picking it up from the counter. I advised her it was bad enough they damaged the rim, but that because of her now second snotty reply to me (the customer) that I will never bring any vehicle to Ozzy's Auto Clinic. My biggest surprise was that a member of their management team (or possibly even the owner) was sitting in the background behind the counter for the last exchange from her but didn't feel the need to get involved. While the tire patch may have been done correctly, the rediculous wait time combined with the not one, but two, snotty & scarcastic responses from their female desk agent completely soured my experience as an Ozzy's customer. If you don't mind risking damage to your vehicle and receiving poor treatment as a customer, feel free to have them work on your vehicle. read more

Great price for oil change and it includes a tire rotation. Quick service and wait times are accurate and in my experience have been less than quoted. Only thing I don't like is trying to be up sold on something(air filter) that I just replaced. That makes me question honesty. In fairness, I have only done oil changes and tire changes. I had a great experience here yesterday as a new customer. I had just gotten two new tires put on elsewhere and needed a wheel alignment. I walked in and they gave me an hour estimate before they could start, which was better than another place I called. Overall I stayed for about 2 hours and they gave me $10 off for my "long wait". The discount made the price the same as the other place I was going to go and got done in less time. I'm happy with my decision to use Ozzys Auto Clinic! read more

I have given this shop many chances and they continue to let me down. They replaced my clutch and "rebuilt" my engine back in January due to blown head gaskets. Ever since then, my clutch hasn't been right. The pedal was sticking when i would shift to the point where id have to physically kick it back up after engaging, AND it would viciously chatter and shake the whole car in first gear. I took it back to them a few weeks ago for the clutch as well as an oil leak from the cam seals on my NEW engine THEY "fixed." They told me they would fix the brand new clutch they put in for me and they still charged me. Claimed it was the slave cylinder that needed replacing and that should fix it. They said the chattering will "go away." It didn't. My friend who has been rebuilding cars since he was 13 took a look at it and was blown away at the sheer lack of intelligence or simple laziness that was put into doing this job. He was so appalled he made sure to take down their name because he said "they either have no clue what their doing or simply don't care." They also treated me like a joke considering im a female. I told them where it was leaking oil, and they said they'll let the mechanics find them. Guess who was right the first time. They estimated I would be out of their shop "way before 3pm" and i didn't leave until after 3:30, so they sent out their young, attractive mechanic when i was getting impatient to calm me down, as if I didn't know what that was about. They believe they can do a half-assed job because im a woman and they think I have no clue what I'm talking about. I'm sure they're a fine auto shop for simple things like an oil change or an inspection, something I can do on my own without a license to mechanics. I have to spend even more money fixing something they couldn't do in the first place. Never coming back here again. read more

If i could give this place zero stars I would. I took by father in laws vehicle in for inspection. The car only has 45,000 miles on granted it is a 2004 model. The car has US Marine decals all over the car and US Marine emblem is on the floor mats. So it is very obvious this car belongs to someone who was a US Marine, and yes my father in law proudly served as a US Marine. They called to tell me the car failed inspection because it needs a new rack and pinon assembly. Funny thing was the vehicle was just at a Chevy dealer across the river to have the an alignment and they told me the rack and pinon was in good shape. I told them that at Ozzy's and it did not seem to phase them. I declined the work, picked the car up and took it to another mechanic in Peekskill and he looked at the rack and pinon and said it was perfect. The car passed inspection in the other shop. Way to go Ozzy's, take advantage of a US Marine. I also called Ozzy on is cell phone to tell him this and he didn't care. STAY AWAY FROM THESE RIP OFF ARTIST. They attempted to charge me for a new battery, which was only one year old and in warranty, trying to prove to me that it was faulty. Then they charged me for a spark plug they never installed. On my way back home from upstate NY when my car overheated! I googled the nearest repair shop and found Ozzy's. They brought my car in right away. I expected it to have some major issues, but turns out it was just a loose clamp on the radiator. The guys here explained everything to me very clearly, I'm not someone who understands cars AT ALL.They tightened it, 'topped off' the fluid, and they sent me on my way! No charge!
