Dave the manager needs to be retrained as a manager. He does not have good communication skills and he was caught lying. When told about it he put his hands up and told me to calm down. And while speaking to him he bluntly said hold on and walked away while I was talking. Not cool. When he left, I turned to the gentleman that was taking care of me and told him, why didnt he back me up and all he said was, hes the manager. I went there for a state inspection and was told the wipers needed to be replaced (even though they were just replaced 3 months ago) and the back shocks were pouring oil. I was told my car was a safety hazard. They agreed to pretend they never saw the car, because I was skeptical I brought my car to a different mechanic to check it and run the inspection. The car passed with flying colors. I spoke with another person who brought their car to this location for an inspection recently and they were told the exact same two issues were wrong with their car. Car (Tesla) was brought in for inspection and 2 tires. I had an 8am appointment; arrived at 8:05am. I was told that inspector was not in yet but that if necessary car would be brought to a nearby auto repair station for the inspection. I called Mavis at about 11am, and was told the car was ready. When I arrived, I was informed that inspection was NIT done and their inspector would not be arriving until 1:30pm!! Only after I protested did they then take the car out to the other facility for the inspectio. I have been a customer here for at least 25-30 year. Clown show. And when the safety of you children is in someone's hands, is'nt that what you want? One front desk guy was too busy talking to someone on the phone about his days off to help me. When He finished his leisurely call, we walked out to the car and I explained exactly what I needed for an upcoming 2,000 mile road trip. Remove two punctured tires and replace with new. The guy even wrote it down on a notepad and typed it into a work order on the computer. Next day the tire pressure is at 7psi on one of the tires...because there's still a giant nail sticking out of it. Apparently they just replaced any old two tires and called it a day. When my wife took it in for an explanation and correction, she texted me that they were "annoyed" at her. Shouldn't WE be the annoyed party? Annoyed you left a *clearly* damaged and low tire on the car and cleared it to move out the door? Annoyed that you put my family's safety in jeopardy? Annoyed you acted so put out having to correct your mistake? Tell me again why you're annoyed. I also love that they felt free to get pissy with my *wife*. My check-in with John was excellent. We ordered new tires and rear shocks. Communication was very good and the work was done promptly at a fair price. When I picked up the car, however, I was disappointed to see all the new tires' sidewalls smeared with a sticky white substance, probably a bead sealant or lubricant that is very hard to remove. I brought it to the attention of one of the reps at the front desk and he spent about 20 minutes cleaning the tires for me. While he was busy, I checked the tire pressure and all four tires were under-inflated. The rep corrected that as well. Thank you for correcting the problem, but it shouldn't have been necessary. The point of this review is that, as a long-time customer and someone happy with service in the past, I want to suggest that a manager or someone besides the mechanic needs to inspect cars and new tires prior to returning cars back to customers. It's quality control, attention to detail and respect for the customer that was needed in this case. I don't think that's too much to ask. read more

so my my Jeep renegade 2018 went in to get a new battery. They did not communicate. I got the car back. It was not running right. It felt like the car did not have enough power. I could not drive it all the way home. I stopped at a friend's house. They came told me it was fine. Said I can drive it. I was driving it up route six. It started doing it again no power it felt like we had it towed all the way back to Mavis. They said they can fix it three weeks later. They said they cannot fix it. They do not know what's wrong with the car. I can tell you this for a fact my car ran fine until they had it in their possession when I got it out of Mavis if there was problems. Get it towed all the way to Mount Kisco now to have a real professional look at it they do not want to take any responsibility for this, and it is very upsetting that our company with their reputation is not taking accountability for their actions. They're giving my family a hard time about it and it is not fair. The car was working fine until they had want to take accountability like I said and from a big branch of Lake Mavis it's not acceptable. I had probably the best customer service experienced with this Mavis location. I needed conditions corrected for both of my vehicles, and Mavis took care of both without any issues. Horrible service, poor performance. Simple tire balancing they can't get right. Had to bring it back twice within minutes of them "finishing the job". Isn't that their specialty?? How many other people just pay and walk out and don't notice something isn't right. They are ripping people off. They forget there are windows to see into the bays. Easy to see they never tried to balance all the tires. Mike says "the weights might've come off". From the 5 minute drive down the road? If his guys Siri the job correctly that wouldn't happen. Miserable experience for something so simple. They also replaced my rotors and pads which they did a good job on. Said it would take about two hours. Ridiculously long time but it's what it is. They also replaced a bad tire - said it would take about 2 hours for the tire to get there which wasn't a big deal since I had to wait for the brakes to be done. 2 hours turned into close to 5. No respect for customers time, no quality control, no accountability. Claiming now now way it's a balancing issue. Well, it didn't happen before i brought the car to you now it does. Mike tried to make things right but too little too late. I stopped coming to mavis 4 years ago because of a similar problem. Thought I'd try again. Big mistake. Avoid Mavis, go to Ozzy's instead. Second time I've gone here this year and was very pleased both times. First was for Inspection., then this week fir slow leak in tire. Both times staff was courteous and Service completed in a very timely manner. Neither time did they try to push / sell additional services, but were helpful in pointing out/ suggesting what might consider doing. Do not use Mavis for anything. I went in with 5 tires asked for 2 new tires and a wheel alignment. First thing is they tried to keep my spare, not sure why. When I drove out I could immediately feel a shudder went back and would not leave till a manger took a test ride me and when we got back I asked how they would fix it they just said they would refund me my money. The workers here were nice to me when I went. I ordered a set of 4 all season tires online. Ordered the best ones they had for my car. It took about a week to arrive. When they were scheduled to arrive, I called and they informed me that they had not been delivered and that they would call me before my appointment which was the following day. Surely enough, the next day I get a call early morning that they arrived and that my appointment was good to go. It did take a while to get the alignment and swap done which was a bummer because I got an eta of 2 hours and it took almost 6. I usually carve out car service days to just for just my car itself just in case service times take longer so I don't have much to complain about when it comes to time as I prepare in advance. My only one issue was that when I did get my car back, my dash camera was disconnected. I mean, they have a right to privacy or not wanting to be recorded or whatever but I would have appreciated them reattaching it after. It was just hanging from the cord. Surprisingly, the cord didn't get damaged. Other than that, I haven't had any bad experiences. read more

If I had known the parts were not at the store I would't have agreed to have the work done until the parts were there. On top of that THEY RAN MY CAR INTO A TREE!!!!! .On 6/1/2022 I needed the first brake job since I bought the car. The mileage at that time was 78,599. AGAIN it was FIRST time needing brakes. It was done in Carmel, NY. On 5/27/23 the mileage was 94,072. I had them check front and rear brakes with oil change, They recommended rear brakes. Squealing while backing up reported to them at that time. On 5/24/23 with mileage of 94,410 I had the rear brakes and rotors done. I again reported squealing to them as well as vibrations. The squealing did not stop and nor did the vibrations. On 7/25/23 I brought it back because of the above noted issue. The person recorded the mileage as 100,000. They had to replace the front rotors and pads and charged labor. This was done in Wappingers Falls, NY The squealing still continued and got progressively worse. On 3/7/24 we had to bring it back knowing the brakes were bad again. The mileage recorded on the receipt is 120,000 (HOWEVER as of 3/13/24 it is 112,827 ) They charged for labor on brake pads and rotors both front and back, (we did not request back brake anything). A brake flush, which we did not request nor were consulted prior to doing so. The ONLY valid labor charge is the rebuilt caliper. This was done in 2085 E Main St. Cortlandt Manor NY. So, here's a recap... I drove 78,599 miles before I ever needed brakes. There was 21,401 miles drive between the two front brake jobs. On 7/25/23 Mileage the recorded was 100,000, which is not possible because I watched the mileage turn to number that while driving and certainly not the day I brought it in. 3/7/24 Mileage was recorded as 120,000, which was wrong on two counts. No way it would have been at that even number, and I only have 112,827 as of 3/13/24 and I have driven at least 1,000 miles since 3/7. So that means there was Less than 12,000 miles driven before needing A THIRD SET OF FRONT BRAKES. My boyfriend spoke to three different people after this last brake job, all three basically told him too bad deal with it. I called to speak to another "manager" today. He essentially told me that they absolutely charge labor to replace inferior parts they put in despite the fact it was still under warrantee. When I advised him that I will be contacting the BBB and corporate, he whined that I was threatening him. No sir, telling you factual information that I will be reporting your incompetence is not at all a threat. So I can only fathom that these boys hate women, like to rip us off and then try to intimidate us into not reporting their incompetence, lack of ethics and inability to know how to write down accurate numbers. I brought the car to three different Mavis's hoping that one of them knew how to do their job. Clearly none do. read more

I recently dropped off my vehicle for it's annual state inspection. As I am going about my day I received a phone from Mike. Mike stated that my vehicle failed inspection because my vehicles windows are tinted. I expressed to Mike that I found this troubling because in the past my vehicle passed inspection at his location. Mike stated the inspector could lose his license if they allowed my vehicle to pass inspection. Fair enough, all business and services should absolutely be done properly and correctly. Upon my arrival to Mavis I did state to the attendant that I was bringing in my vehicle for inspection. The attendant and I walked out to my vehicle to record my vehicles mileage and overall appearance before entrusting Mavis with my vehicle for its anual state inspection. During the pre-check process or perhaps even upon my initial check-in I should have been made aware that my vehicle would fail because of the windows being tinted. My concern is not that my vehicle failed inspection. My concern is that I paid for a failed service and was not made aware during pre-check services. Paying for a failed service seems predatory in nature especially when Mavis has the experience and 1st hand knowledge of what is needed for vehicles to pass anual state inspections. In the future it would be good business and customer service if customers are made aware of updated regulations and business practices/policy. read more

On March 31, 2017, I visited Mavis Discount Tire at the Cold Spring, NY location. An oil and filter change was performed on my vehicle. What I found afterward was that the technician, while performing the oil service, lost my oil cap, and instead of replacing it, took it upon himself to install this rubber gasket. Note that he placed a dime in the gasket to prevent the oil from spraying out. Keep in mind that I have been a steady customer for years with Mavis, and recently the Cold Spring location. All my vehicles get serviced there. The question I have is, even if Mavis resolves this issue, how do I go back to the Cold Spring location (or any Mavis location)? How do I trust that my vehicles will be serviced properly or that the technician won't further damage my vehicles. I had an appointment today at 9 am. I arrived onsite at 8:50am. When I told them I would be waiting for the inspection to be completed, I was told that it would be an hour and a half to two hours. For an inspection. That I made an appointment for and confirmed. I was told that inspections always take two hours, despite knowing this is a lie. I blocked out my calendar, made an appointment, confirmed the appointment, showed up early and was still screwed by your company. Your level of customer service is disgraceful. Please don't post replies to make it seem like you care and are working to resolve the situation because you are not. After researching run flat tires for my van online, Mavis came up with the best price. When I went to pick up the car the tire price they tried to charge me was $25/tire more. I actually had to argue with them to get the price I was quoted when I booked the appointment. While they were installing the tires I received the mandatory upsell phone call where they call to tell you that you need something that you actually don't need. They tried to tell me that I needed lower control arms @ $400/each (2 of them). I knew I didn't need them because that same car was in there 2 weeks earlier for struts and shocks and they would have had to remove them to do the struts. They gave me the old "I don't know who worked on it last time." when I questoned why this wasn't brought up at that time. Long story short, if you choose to go to Mavis Cortlandt, check your bill thoroughly, and when you get the upsell call, particularly when it's something expensive, get a second opinion before telling them to do the work. you probably don't need it. read more

I had an appointment to get new tires and when I went they told me to park and bring them the keys. If I have an appointment shouldn't they be prepared for me? Next we waited more than an hour and they did not finish, when we looked at the shop there were four guys just standing around not doing anything, my vehicle was the only one there. When my husband spoke up and told them it was getting late they told him he needs to leave. I paid extra for alignment and they did not align the new tires. They also let me leave with the tire pressure sensor fault light on in my dashboard.
