I'm from a very tiny town in Northern California that has a famous Danish hot dog sold at a store called the Red Front. The yellow bun it's served on is an old Danish recipe that's famous in part because it's delicious, but also because it's so recognizable it solved a crime. Although Red Front's hot dog link is very similar to the one this DØP kiosk serves, it's DØP's bun that brings the experience down from a four to a three. The type of bun I expected is known as a classic soft pølsebrød. It's similar to Challah in that it's a yellow egg bread and tastes nothing like the heavy sourdough bun DØP uses and the honey and I ended up mostly throwing away. The service itself was friendly and helpful and I enjoyed the pickles and the hot dog itself - it's just the bun that doesn't work. So all in all, I'd love to see them offer the option of the older recipe bun in the future.

I ordered the largest hot dog (costed 40 Danish Krones), and my sister ordered the moderate sized one (30 Danish Krones). WOW! It was one of the best hot dogs I have eaten. They nicely toast the hot dog bun, and place the hot dog in it w/ different types of sauces (mustard, ketchup & some special yellow sauce), crispy fried onions, raw onions & pickles. The flavors were really that amazing, and the hot dog itself was so savory. Highly recommended! I loved it so much, I ate one right before I left.
