Amazing service, brought in my 2009 Acadia for a transmission swap which had problems going into gear or even shifting gears, sometimes I would wait 15 minutes or more just for me to be able to drive my car but when I brought it to Alex he told me the exact problem I had with my car and gave me a good price and date it should be fixed and ended up being finished before the original date. Alex is very dishonest smooth talking but he lies in the past he did my 79 Chevy Suburban not a good job on it always had problems. Then we had two cars he was working on he rebuilt my xB Scion it was all right and then he did our Toyota Matrix XRS that required a special engine and he knew it he took too to get this car done it was months finally had it done the engine didn't even last 2 months it blown out engine try to blame it on us took it back to him to do the job right he found an engine knowing that it was the wrong one my car required a special Engine we could not smog on the second engine that he put in he told my husband he knew it was the wrong engine yet he lied to us this all started in 2019 and he calls himself a born again Christian shame on you Alex. Do not go to this man he will lie and rip you off we finally got someone else and he put the right engine in this guy did a great job now we can legally smog our Matrix XRS. We have been going to P&G for over two decades now, and we've always been happy with their work. Alex takes care of us, whether it's basic maintenance or replacing a radiator. Horrible restoration. Rippoff. Kept all real parts n put cheap parts on. Can't believe how he did that.

Took 2 Heads to get resurfaced, they did a cheap job because they used a Belt Sander. Was not flat. There was rigid deep scratches on my head which ended up leaking alot of coolant! Took the heads to another shop to get it done CORRECTLY. Lost over $300 taking my heads here. read more

I want to give Alex and P & G Engines and Transmissions a HUGE THUMBS DOWN and a NEGATIVE 5 stars if it were possible. They do shoty work at best, and if that weren't enough they take their sweet time doing it. My husband took our Suburban to get some work done to the rear suspension. In the process they told us they needed to remove the transmission because the service we requested required it. So us not being the experts and trusting that Alex knew what he was doing we agreed. By the way he came higly recommended by a trusted source which is why we went to him. When all was said and done the repair they did was shoty and made the suburban run like crap, but the kicker was that they over filled the transmission blowing the seals. When my husband took the car back only 2 days later Alex denied that they did what my husband claimed and refused to honor the warranty. Dishonest, liars and horrible mechanics. Stay away from P&G and do not trust Alex even though he calls himself a very honest person. Do your friends and family a favor and tell them to do the same. read more

Alex seemed to be very honest and helpful. That is, until my credit was ran for finanancing and it was approved. Once they received the approval amount all of these hidden fees started jumping out of nowhere. I've had to return multiple times due to the "work" done on my truck. I had to tighten up bolts of the that were on the verge of falling out immediately after my truck was "ready to be picked up". High pressure to sell me things I don't need. After everything, the final total was about twice the amount original estimate. The original estimate even included additional services but when it came down to it I was told that those services cost extra above what was promised to me. The deception is real. I trusted him because he talked a good game. Now I know better. read more

I give P&G one star because it's the lowest rating possible. You see I took my 1990 Toyota 4 runner to P&G on 1/31/18. Having almost 300 k miles on it, it had a burnt valve which caused it to run rough due to the burnt valve, otherwise if ran fine , no check engine light On, no trouble codes, no over heating problem, nothing other than a lot of miles and a burnt valve. Now it is 7/16/81. That's right, 5and a half months later and my vehicle is in a shop in Redlands (Where they can hopefully make my 4 runner road worthy again) to repair problems it never had until Alex (P&Gs owner) and his team laid their hands on it. This 2 week job (according to Alex, before receiving over 50% down payment and starting work) has been a long, stressful, frustrating and ridiculous journey that has yet to end. It has been filled with many interesting learning experiences, such as- you can fix a dead miss by adjusting the idle, and what appears to be an old greasy fuel injector is really one of the new set recently installed that had changed color( after a discussion with Alex, he agreed to install a new one and they did. The next day I found there were only 4 of the set of injectors left with 1 new injector and 1 old greasy injector(the one that changes color).the following day I find 4 of the original set and 2 new injectors. Oh yea, let mention the new injectors were the color of the one that appeared to be old, not the same as originals, also at P&G they do Tacoma on Tuesday's, 4 runners have to wait til Thursdays. I kid you not, this is only some of his wisdom that Alex has shared with me. Long story short- I don't have a driveable vehicle after Alex's repeated promise of " let me try one more thing" to get the car going. After I told him that I wasn't paying for any more parts while he was trying one more thing, he has taken my car to another shop and is trying to say his job is done. Sorry Alex but your job is not finnished until my vehicle is in the same condition it was in when you got it and has a rebuilt motor. I am truly sorry Alex. Sorry I ever let you or your employees touch my car, it is one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made! I've told you my story so if you waste your time and money at P&G it's not that you haven't been warned. read more

Do not take your car here, AT ALL. My 2002 Mazda's engine broke down so I took it to them to replace it with a remanufactured engine. The service cost me over $2000 plus an extra fee for new water hoses and a new knock sensor. I picked up the car after a week and took it home. Upon further inspection, I found out that they put in a used Japanese engine and passed it off as a remanufactured engine. They just cleaned it, painted it, and passed it off as remanufactured. I could tell it wasn't remanufactured because the position of the knock sensor was in a different place. They had to cut the knock sensor wire to add more wire onto it so that they could plug it into position. The original engines made in America always have the knock sensor in the same place. They didn't even replace all of the water hoses (which I paid an extra fee for). On top of that, one of the electrical connections to the radiator fan was broken, the socket didn't clasp. Only one radiator fan was working. They broke it and didn't even bother to fix it, they just put them together, but it easily pulled apart when I touched the connection. I had to put epoxy on it to fix it. After 4000 miles, the "remanufactured engine" started to leak oil from the camshaft seal, so I took it back to them to fix it. Keep in mind that P&G Auto Parts & Machine Shop advertises in magazines with "WARRANTY ON PARTS & LABOR" for rebuilt and remanufactured engines. I told Alex (owner of the place) that the engine was leaking oil and had to get it fixed. But Alex told me that he had a separate business partner who was in charge of repairs. He said he wouldn't be able to repair it there. What?? He sent me to another shop called P&G Auto Sales at 1561 Lilac Ave in Bloomington. He said that they would respect the warranty I had on the engine. So I went there and they said they would repair it, but I had to pay $80 dollars as a "copayment" for labor costs. I didn't want to argue anymore, I just wanted the car fixed so I paid up. After a couple days, I picked it up and took it home, once again. The leaking stopped, which was good. I thought everything was finally fixed. But after 2 weeks the car started to make a loud noise. I looked under the car again and it's STILL leaking. The loud noise was due to a poorly installed tensioner spring, which caused a loose timing belt. It was clipped, stretched out, and put on backwards. I replaced the tensioner spring, and tightened the timing belt. I didn't want to go back again for them to "fix it". I could have replaced the engine myself but couldn't because I live in a apartment, I don't have space to replace a whole engine. That's why I sent my 2002 Mazda to this shop. I'm disappointed with the unprofessionalism this place has. They advertise as having warranty on parts and labor, but when it comes to it, they (Alex) send you to another place where you have to pay a "copayment" for labor. This place is not as advertised. It's deception. Besides that, they didn't do a good job on the car either, like breaking a radiator fan wire connection. I am pretty sure the "remanufactured" engine was actually a used Japanese engine. There were some other mechanical issues but this review is getting too long. If you want to waste time and money in this repair shop, go ahead. read more

The owner ALEX is very professional, organized and helpful. He explained every step detail by detail and only fixed what was actually wrong with my car he wasn't trying to sell me anything I didn't need and on top of that I was a little tight on money to fix my EGR VALVE that same day and he surprised me by fixing it for FREE! I had my engine rebuilt and he gave me a great deal which saved me plenty of money since I was on a budget! My car is running great, I would definitely recommend everyone to check this place out. Alex and/or his crew rebuild my engine. They did an extraordinary Job. Alex is a very knowledgeable, Friendly and Caring Person.

I give Alex's crew a big thumbs down on the "rebuild" he did for my Honda Civic. After said and done I am left with a motor that was supposedlly rebuilt. Seems to me like they just swapped out my motor with one of his used junk Japanesse motors. To top it off working parts were exhanged off my original motor and replaced with faulty parts, one example: my distributor. I took in my car to another shop to test the compression and sure enough two of the cylinders have weak compression. My Honda was taken to back to him at least five times throughout my warranty period. A few times for the clutch, oil leaks, overheating etc. First it was the V-Tech solenoid that was not working. The first day I took it from the shop. Then the clutch which I paid for a new one with the swap. After he fixes I get charged for a flywheel (used) because they didn't have the integrity to tell it was bad. See most places will resurface it or at the very least recommend a new one or include it with the clutch. Now to the oil leaks. What a mess! My distributor leaked oil, the valve cover gasket also leaked oil and was replaced after he did the swap. The gasket was used not even installed right. They installed a used one. I also had oil leaking from my oil pan gasket because the drain valve would keep turning. We took it in for him to check and we go back to pick up the car after a WEEK. Alex says its done going off his mechanic. So we had him keep the car on the lift to show us he fixed it. Sure enough the plug kept spinning! My car was in the shop for about week just for this. I also asked to replace my non working window regulator. Alex tried charging my dad for the regulator when they never touched it. SMH the more I write and think about this situation it reminds me how much of a fraud this place is or turned out to be. It could of done a lot of this on my own but thats what I paid the shop for. He would try telling me "Oh were not going to charge you for that!" What you mean? I asked him once. "I paid you over two grand by now for this rebuild that was not done right. He responds " I have customers who pay my $8,000 for their car to get worked on." Ok so apparentlly you have to spend at least eight grand to get good service here. Oh yeah another thing, Alex and I agreed on a final price after I gave him half the money to start the job. When I go to pay the balance his daughter charges me more than what we agreed on. I didnt want to agrue with her so I left it at that. It's not the money its the point. One of the last times I took it to him I made sure to test drive it on the freeway and back to the shop. Sure enough I'm pulling into his shop and the car starts to overheat! You had a long life client but after this poor serivce you provided never again. Get some real mechanics in there Alex. I understand your business is growing but keep up with it. I'm not going to say I hate it because hate is a strong word but I am sure not happy with the work his sorry mechanics did on my car.
