DO NOT BUY A USED CAR FROM THIS MAN! HE IS DISHONEST AND DOES NOT LIVE UP TO HIS WORD! My family went to Monroy's for over 15 years and had no problems with their service until he sold us a car. He said that he had a 2009 Subaru Outback that was not working but he was going to get a brand new engine for it and would fix it all up, make it right, and sell us a great car for $7000.00. This thing was never working from the day I got it from him. It kept on breaking down in the middle of the road in the mountains after only a few days of using the vehicle. I say only a few days because I barely had the car in my possession a few days since it was always back at his shop being fixed for serious issues. I took it up to work and it over heated and would not start. I had to wait a few hours before I could drive it again and slowly got it home and then to his repair shop. He said that he fixed it, (It was never actually fixed) but that he would not work on it again without me paying for the bill. I told him he sold us a hooptie and would never go back to his shop again. We only had it for 4 month! Most of that time it was in the shop for weeks at a time. We only have driven the car for 2000 miles over the span of a year because of all the smog it spews out and fear that it will not start again. Well, today the car did the same thing to my wife as she was driving down to Ontario Mills where it stalled in the middle of the road. She was terrified. I had to drive down to give her my car and try to take the car back to my house not knowing what was going on with it. I couldn't make it back to my house without it oveheating and stalling out on the side of the road. This car was the most costly mistake of my life. We have put over $1000 trying to fix the car. It would not even pass the smog test a year after we bought it. Now it does not even work and is currently sitting on the side of the road with steam spewing from the engine bay. Came here the first time to get a belt replaced along with a change of oil and coolant. Came back for a brake and rotor replacement. Each time they gave me quality service from mechanical to customer. Will be returning for future maintenance/repairs because the workers are kind and hardworking and the owner of the business is just the same. Took my car here and Jose was sure my car needed big work on the motor which he quoted 2,200. He Had the car for over two weeks not giving me updates throughout. A year later my car starts acting up and Jose said it had nothing to do with the job he did so I took it to two other mechanics. To my surprise both said almost the same thing, the person who worked on my car's motor (Jose at Monroys) did a bad job and now I needed a motor replacement. So I wasn't sure and took it to Chevy dealer which there I was confirmed the same thing. Due to bad job Jose did on my car I ended up paying another 7k for a new motor. Stay away from this place, Jose will take your money and mess up then say it's not his fault. First of all, I have been a loyal customer for many years. I've known Jose Luis since they were located at Citrus Ave. Recently I took a Nissan Rogue that needed a front driver side replaced and they quoted me $450 and they said it would take 3 hours. So I decided to take the vehicle to another shop up the street and they charged me $175 and it took them less than an hour to replace it. Honestly, I'm pretty disappointed with the work that they did for me. I was quoted a great price to get my back brakes and rotors replaced, so I decided to have them do the job. The customer service was okay and they did finish the work on time, at the price I was quoted. HOWEVER -- Shortly after I took my car home, I noticed an awful grinding sound when I would put on the brakes, coming from the back of the car. I didn't take it back to them, because I assumed it was something else. Why would brand new brakes and rotors be causing this horrible grinding noise? Well, I had my car looked at by someone else, and I was told that the upper caliper bolt was missing on the back right-hand side. So, I'm not saying they forgot to put it back on or didn't put it on properly... But this grinding noise started happening about 1-2 days after I got my car back from them. I called the day before regarding a pre-purchase auto inspection and he was very accomodating on the phone, explained everything I needed to know, and assured me he could do the inspection at my requested time the following day. When I arrived he was very friendly, accepted the vehicle and knowing I was on a short time frame with the vehicle told me to return in only one hour.
