I spoke to Jim on the phone to book the service, and he was really friendly and helpful. He said his wife Rose would be in touch with a quote after I texted some pictures of the room. I don't know who I was texting with in the end. They quoted me $100. The two workers arrived right on time, were very polite, and did a beautiful job! However, they spoke no English and used a phone app to communicate. (You speak into the phone, they read the Portuguese that's generated, then they speak into the phone and it spits out English. Who knows how accurate it is.) I lived in a foreign country for 6 years and while I wasn't fluent, I had basic proficiency in the language... admittedly I worked in an industry where people spoke English, but for day-to-day things I was glad I could read and handle basic conversations. (This was pre-smart phone.) I'd love to hire Rose's Cleaning for their organizing service, but can't imagine how you'd do that with someone you couldn't talk to. They get good reviews for that, so maybe I'll try it. I'm skeptical but interested. If all you need is cleaning it probably doesn't matter that you can't communicate without a phone translator. Their work was beautiful and they were punctual and polite. All of that is great. I'm glad they could fit us in!

My friends, my pulmonologist, my coworkers, they were all like "wait, you don't clean your rugs?!?" And I said "I vacuum them" and "I got them from my parents and they've never sent them off to a rug cleaner." Yelp reader, I was wrong. You need to have a professional actually CLEAN your rug. And so, I finally did. Boston Rug Cleaning was fantastic. Reasonable prices, rugs were done in about 2 weeks, good communication, and very pretty rugs- with no weird chemical cleaning smell. Also, it's like those ASMR videos of people cleaning filthy rugs and you're like "it was red this whole time?!" That's how I felt when the rugs came back and I unfurled them from their paper casings. The colors are so vibrant and evenly tufted. I feel like I've grown out of my family's incorrect conviction that wool rugs don't need deep cleaning - they really do! My lungs are happy! The weird smell in my house when we've been gone for a week is also gone! Anyway, it's work to move all the furniture away and roll up the rug, but definitely worth the effort (you need to sweep under there anyway, guarantee it). The company will pick up the rug but if you have a car it's not hard at all to take over yourself and save some $. They're on Rte 9 and parking was no problem- they also helped move the rugs in and out of the car. So happy with the service!

The stain on my carpet looks much worse after their treatment (see attached before and after photos…read more-- yes, the bad one is the after...) They refused to refund my payment. They don't have expertise in rug cleaning - the reason I hired them instead of doing it myself was because I didn't know how to clean my delicate wool rug without damaging the fibers. Turns out they don't either. It's harder to see in the photos, but they destroyed the fibers in an area much larger than the original stain. I should've known it would be trouble when they came back a second time telling me that they picked up a cleaner that "Home Depot recommended." I told them all I wanted was a refund (I could've threatened them with small claims for destroying my rug.) They refused, so here we are. 1 Star.
