I have been a loyal customer of Chef Matt's weekly meal prep service since February 2018 and…read morehaven't had any major problems. He recently merged with another food service partner to become Chefit, and I have already had two major food/health safety issues in my first order. 1. I have a moderate shellfish allergy and clearly disclosed it when I started the service. After taking a few bites of my meal today, my tongue started tingling and swelling. I dug around and found a whole, large, tail-on piece of shrimp under the noodles. I had to leave work early to go home to take medicine and tend to my physical needs. 2. I leave an ice chest with ice packs out for the delivery person to put the weekly meals in, but whoever delivered it left the lid open several inches and I had to throw out the top meal because it had warmed up to outdoor temperature after being exposed for a few hours. I messaged Chef Matt about these issues. He did apologize, but instead of rectifying the situation, he said I should find a different meal service. I told him I was disappointed with his response especially since I'd been a loyal weekly customer for so many years, and then I cancelled all future orders. I appreciate the apology, but this wasn't a simple mixup- these are two major food safety/health infractions, and the only solution I was given was being told to leave.
