A simple review for this Pure Awesome Martial Arts Academy is just impossible... We have now been members for about 2 years strong and don't plan on leaving anytime soon. The coaches and staff make everyone feel like family which is absolutely wonderful in our case. My daughter was diagnosed with ADD (focus issues) and when I didn't know what to do, this email popped up and it became my sign of help. Within 24 hours I had emailed them and they responded with an appointment for us. OMG it was God sent in my opinion, after her appointment she started a week later. Since then she has changed dramatically not only with her focus issues but with her attitude and socially. The coaches there are also so involved with all students making sure they get updates from the parents about grades at school but also with their behavior at school and home. I love the fact that you can go to the coaches with any issue and they will try there very best to help.. I really couldn't have ask for better people and a better school for my daughter.. Unfortunately I have a couple reasons why I'm giving P3 Martial Arts 4 stars instead of 5. When I first walked in to inquire about the classes they spoke to me and answered all of the questions I had, which was great. They wanted me to sign up that day, I would've but the person that was paying for it was out of town. I told the person I spoke to, that I had to wait until they got back and that I would either pass on the information or contact them myself. For the next 2 WEEKS, I was constantly getting phone calls, texts, and emails. They were trying WAY to hard to take my money. I spoke to them and reminded them about the situation and they STILL kept on with the same problem of trying to get me to come in and sign up. That is one reason. The second reason is because they sign up SO many kids that there isn't enough room to accommodate all of the adults that are present with the children. They expect people not to step on the mat while walking from the entryway to the dressing rooms, but it's pretty difficult not to do that when there are people BLOCKING the path to them. The third and last reason is that the dressing rooms are located towards the front of the studio, which proves to be an inconvenience because the girls room (which so happens to be the very first door) has no privacy while opening and closing the door. Other then these issues this studio is a good place to bring your child to learn Jui Jitsu, they have plenty of instructors to give each chIld their deserved attention. read more

There is so much heart and soul in my P3 family. As a complete beginner to BJJ, they have encouraged me and challenged me in ways that only a family can; BJJ is a pursuit that will pinpoint both mental and physical obstacles we create for ourselves. I grow with each training session. I started with once a week but who was I kidding, my other hobbies took a backseat to the addictive sport. I'm at 4 times a week now and yes, you will be sore, but your body and mind will thank you. My son loves to learn and this is a great place for it. He has grown into a strong young man. He is on the autistic spectrum and they were able to help him with clarity and focus. He has lost weight and has become more determined to achieve goals. He has developed lots of friendships. There is a strong family atmosphere which we enjoy. They have events outside of classes also. We went to Raging Waves recently with the school and a picnic is coming up too! read more

So I've been looking around for a new place to train. After some looking around I found Gracie Barra Schaumburg, Went through the intro on the website and signed up, decided to walk-in and see what it would be like walking in un-announced. Great experience, I walked in was greeted and talked to by a coach within minutes. All of my initial questions were answered and I'm going to be going to an into class this week. Great experience so far. I was made to feel welcome and it seemed the coach under stood where I was coming from and what I want to accomplish. My first intro class was good as well, got some background info on the art and although I didn't have many questions the ones I did have were answered, they seem to be very helpful so far. thus the reason for 4 stars and not 5, I'll update as I get more experience with them. read more

My family has been training here for just over 2 years now. All of the coaches are patient and invested in both child and adult students. They work to make sure everyone is growing and learning. The kids are not only taught BJJ, but also taught good character traits. It is a great family atmosphere where we have all made great friends and have become more like a family. read more

Came here to learn about BJJ, learned more about myself with the help of great teachers, students and friends. 2 thumbs up for P3 Martial Arts! My 11 year old son has been going to P3 since last September and has been having a blast. Coming from Taekwondo where it was 1 instructor to 20 kids, it was awesome to see that there are 3 to sometimes 5 coaches on the mats. P3 teaches mainly Brazilian Jujitsu but we get much more then that. Overall environment is very family oriented and welcoming. The facilities are always clean and communicating is stellar. Parents can comunicate via Facebook groups and get answers almost instantly. P3 also has a YouTube page to follow along with what is being taught in class,which my son loves as a refresher. My sons self esteem is at an all time high and is more respectful now more then ever. P3 is very hands on and teaches more real life scenario situations. The Schedule is great! They have classes almost everyday. P3 offers a trail period which is really affordable and is straight forward with pricing from day one. My sons old school was full of upselling and would charge for testing, belt promotions , any little thing there was a charge. Cant recommend this school enough. My kids love it here. As a parent i love seeing my kids blossom in the art of Brazilian Jujitsu. The coaches are amazing, always trying to improve and they genuinely care about their students and the craft. I even tried the adult class and it was no joke. If you or your family are looking to learn a martial art or enhance your BJJ skills, this is the only academy in the Midwest affiliated with Rafael Lovato Jr and his curriculum. My son will definitely miss this place! He started in the very beginning with P3 family and we've loved it since day 1. The coaches take time out and really work with each kid individually and as a group. We looked forward to all the classes each week and what was going to be taught. Neither my daughter or I have ever trained in any sort of martial art. Althought we were reluctant to get started we finally did and it has changed our lives. I trained at this gym for roughly the last 2 years but unfortunately had to leave recently due to personal scheduling issues. It has been a very enjoyable time in my life. One big difference between P3 and many other gyms I've trained at or gone to open mats at is the kind of people that train here. Quite simply the most friendly, warm and fun group of people I've ever had the pleasure of training with. I found it easy to make friends here despite not being a super social person. The instructors are very technical in the way they teach and are always ready to help and answer questions. Another big plus is that this is one of the larger jiu jitsu places I've trained at as far as class sizes, having a lot of people with various levels of experience. If you're new to BJJ, you won't spend your entire time being rolled by nothing but extremely higher level belts like you might see at some smaller gyms. I felt like this allowed me to actually progress my skills at a faster rate, though there were still enough people with more experience than myself too. On a side note, the gym mats are cleaned after every major session and the facility is kept in very good condition at all times. I'm sad to have to leave but I certainly will never forget the wonderful time in my life I had training here. read more
