My family and I have ate at Pablo's several times. I am really disappointed by their chips, how they are either over fried or under cooked. Their salsa isn't anything special either. I am constantly tasting old cilantro in the salsa which ruins the flavor. I don't feel their food is that fresh in the least. However, their chicken in their enchiladas is all white meat and quite good. I also love their margaritas. I think if they worked harder to keep things fresh and cooked the right way their restaurant would improve tremendously. read more

We decided to go here for dinner and our visit started out bad because they were confused of where to seat us and their was not alot of people there at the time. We visited for lunch last week and was very pleased with our meal. We both ordered the lunch size Fajitas and was very pleasantly surprised to see it come on a mini-sizziling skillet. Happy hour is fair, but not extravagant. Service is average. Margaritas are strong and the jumbo size is a good deal, i'd say a lot better deal than a draft beer. I've ordered the excelente chili rellenos. The serving size was large. I got a choice of fillings. I chose shredded spicy beef. Yum. Very tender and tasty. The food came very hot. I always like it when I get to let my food cool to the temperature that I want. My only regret was not ordering dessert first. The chocolate chimichanga was unbelievable. Very rich and a chocoholics dream. The only down side is that they are not open on Sunday. But well worth the stop. I'll be dreaming of this meal for a long time. read more

This has been the worse restaurant I've been too. I had an order of tacos, and the plate was super hot, but the tortillas were not even cooked they were slightly cold. As a result of the uncooked tortillas they ripped in half as I was trying to take a bite. I won't even talk about the quality of the food, since you can expect it to be bad if the simplest things are awful. I will not go back at all, and I hope people think twice about going there. This restaurant is not authentic at all. "El Toro" in shakopee is a little better than this place. Neither the less, the waiter was not as good either. read more

Decided to check out Shakopee's Mexican staple after hearing so much about the place. It was a warm evening, so we sat outside. The chips didn't appear to be made there and had a store-bought look to them, but tasted ok. Not something authentic though. I had the tacos and my guest had steak fajitas. Food was decent, but nothing that stood out making me want to come back versus going to one of the chain Mexican places. Soft drink glasses seemed small and it felt like the server had to refill constantly. Server gal was a hard worker and very attentive. Left as a train was crossing the tracks with horn blaring. So if you're sensitive to loud noise, you might want to avoid eating outside here. Overall, just kind of an average experience. read more

Upon the best Mexican food I've had. We ordered takeout on a Friday night around 6:30 PM the food was ready and hot upon picking it up. There were wait lines for dine in customers. It was nice to see this when picking up our food because we didn't know this place or if it would be good. Wait lines are always a good sign of great food. The chips were fresh with a light salting. Salsa was fresh and not too spicy as you sometimes get up Mexican restaurants. I ordered a beef enchilada, softshell taco, taquito's, beans, rice, a chimichanga. All food was cooked to perfection. We have been there at least four times in 2010. Last visit, January 2012. We did not enjoy the food during this last visit and the noon time wait help was very poor. Salsa was very watery and had little taste. Would not be making the trip out to shakopee area for dinning in the near future. What has happened to the place? Heard about this place from random person I met while staying at a hotel. I was expecting "authentic" Mexican food, but when I received my order I was disappointed. I ordered beef fajitas - I wasn't aware they were made with prime rib at the restaurant. My companion wasn't impressed with her meal either - she said it lacked flavor. Service was weak at best had to get drink refills from a buss boy, our waitress was to busy talking to other staff members. We've had it with Pablo's. Their food is far, far from authentic; in fact, it's barely Tex-Mex. And it's consistently mediocre.

I've been going to Pablos since I was a little girl. It has been my favorite restaurant for a long time. For awhile, I was frequenting it so regularly that the server memorized my order (which she still knows). It's a great family-owned place with delicious food! I recommend the spicy shredded beef (oh yum...wish I knew that recipe), the rice (double yum), and the enchilada sauce. Personally, I always go for the La Fiesta (spicy shredded beef hardshell taco, chicken enchilada, one of each for the taquitos, with rice and a side of sour cream, thanks!)...I now eat gluten and dairy free...EXCEPT when I eat at Pablos! So worth the belly ache...Also, the salsa is awesome (we ordered a ton of it for my graduation party, I'm that much of an addict). read more

If I could give less than 1 star I absolutly would! We ate at Pablos last night, and I find myself crossing my fingers that I don't end up with Salmonella. My husband's family used to frequent this restaurant many years ago and loved it.. Apparantly thats when the restaurant wasn't run by 15-18 year old kids. We called ahead for the half our call ahead seating.. Knowing full well that doesnt get us a seat in a half an hour.. When we arrived the two girls up front told us it would be 20 min.. 35 minutes later, we checked to see if we had been skipped.. Nope, it will be very soon. 25 minutes after that, our buzzer went off. We were seated at a 2 part table, one short and one tall.. So for the unlucky two that had to sit where the crease of the two tables were, had to have a tipped plate, and hope that their drink didnt spill. Our waitress, who Im pretty sure had absolutly no training in service, could never rememeber to bring us chips, although we did get some salsa and queso dip. Our drinks, constantly empty. My order of nachos with chicken added to them came to the table as chips with melted cheese and shredded chicken. Everyone in my party was making comments about how sad they looked.. The waitress standing behind our server said, oh the ones you wanted are different. So as to not ask for too much, I simply asked if they could bring a plate full of the toppings that came on the "different" nachos. Apparently that wasnt the plan, they took my plate, and I sat while my family all finished their food. 2 out of three meals at our table were served with the wrong meat, and my children's dishes were DISCUSTING. When my new order of nachos came out, the chips had now been burnt and the toppings had been thrown on top. We were not compensated for anything. Im not sure who we would have complained to anyway, since there was not one adult in the entire establishment. Absolutly the worst resataurant experience Ive had in a long time. Long time Pablo's customer soon to be ex-customer. I waited for a few more visits before I wrote this review, but Pablos has been going downhill over the past few months. The quality of the food has deteriorated and the quantity has also decreased. Perhaps the greatest disappointment has been the salsa. We used to enjoy the flavor of the mild and flavor and heat of the hot. Now, they are both bland and less than mild. We will probably try there a few more times just because of the long history of great food, but not holding out any great hopes. read more

My family and I have been going to this resturant for years, they have the best mexican american food. they even have fish taco's my favorite! YUMMMY! Plus all you can eat chips and salsa. Great resturant if you love mexican food. But call ahead on the weekends they get busy fast. read more
