Getting an appointment was easy. The veterinarian was friendly and gave her honest opinions. They advertise a free wellness visit but still charge an admin fee of 9-10 dollars. I felt as though they were trying to sell me on products. I hadn't yet figured out flea meds or anything like that but the vet suggested I should buy a specific one since my dog had fleas. She also said it was very like my dog was in pain due to a previous injury that was sustained so prescribed meds... I don't know, while I don't think it was a horrible experience I did end up going elsewhere for veterinary care. I also found the other vet had the same medications and flea meds for a less expensive. read more

Our hearts are completely broken. Our family trusted this vet for years and never imagined something like this could happen. Our 6-year-old English bulldog was a happy, playful, energetic boy with no health issues. He went in for what should have been a routine vaccination appointment and received the Vanguard Plus 5 DHPP shot in his rear leg. Shortly after, we noticed he was struggling to stand. We told ourselves he was probably just sore from the shot, but days later he began dragging his back legs. Panic set in. When we contacted the vet, we were told he would be fine and were given steroids and pain medication. Days passed, and there was no improvement. Feeling dismissed and desperate, we sought a second opinion. That vet immediately told us vaccines should be given between the shoulder blades to reduce the risk of nerve damage and ordered a CT scan right away. The results shattered us. Our sweet, joyful boy--who once ran, played, and filled our home with life--is now permanently paralyzed. What was supposed to be a simple, routine visit changed his life forever, and ours along with it. We are sharing our story so no other family has to experience this kind of pain. read more

Dr. Lisek and her whole team were AMAZING!! From the young lady who checked us in as we drove there, to Dr. Lisek & medical team who attended our baby Coco. I cannot say enough great things about the heartfelt service we were given, we were treated like family. Our baby Coco came in with a life and death situation. She was treated immediately, all the while Dr. Lisek came in multiple times to keep us updated. After being treated we were reunited with our little Coco and she was doing better. Dr. Lisek kept daily tabs on Coco as she continued to recover at home. She continued with her care by giving continuous additional advice and answering the many questions I had, as I was worried and didn't think of asking on the day we brought her in. Coco is now her chipper loving self again, now she has been given the ability again to take care of her newborn puppies, all do to prayers and the best decision ever made to take her to the Pacific Animal Hospital. This place is the absolute best! They saved my pup from death! My dog was not eating and very lethargic. I took him in and in 10 min they diagnosed him correctly and sent us on the way to the ER. The ER vet said he only had hours to live. Their expertise and quick thinking literally saved him! Now we do all of his aftercare there. Katie is amazing and gets us in and out. She is so sweet and caring. Treats my dog like he was her own. She is super attentive and knowledgeable and is very patient with my 1 million questions. Scheduling is a breeze and I love that they always try to help keep costs down. With ongoing care, that is really important. I now take my two cats there too. In the past 12 months I have been to Pacific Animal Hospital 4 times - 2 visits with my dog and 2 visits with my cat. Making an appointment is super easy on their website with lots of appointments times to work with my schedule. While I've had a different DVM each time, I've found each one to be attentive, caring and interested in my pet and my comments. My impression is they have the best interest of the pet in mind when care is discussed. While I don't always do the recommended tests/procedures, I don't feel pressured or belittled. This is the most amazing vet ever. Dr. Lisek and Katie are the most caring and kind people. I have been coming here for years and they have always been great. They helped me put my 17 year old Maltese down and then helped my two other dogs after they were attacked on a walk. My little beagle mix needed a lot of care and the team was so patient with me explaining everything and gave my dog the best quality of care. I cannot say enough about their quality of care. This is a long overdue review. We have been coming to Pacific Animal Hospital for several months . The staff who works there , they are absolutely amazing . They go above and beyond not only for your pet, but for you as well . Dr Lisek and Dr Jarrah are our favorites. They have experience, knowledge and compassion. I'd like to give a big thank you to the doctors and staff at Pacific Animal Hospital. We recently relocated to Oahu with our cat and it is not an easy process. There is a long checklist that had to be followed as Hawaii is a rabies-free state. It was stressful to say the least as we did not want our fur baby to be placed into quarantine once we landed on the island. The staff made the process a lot easier ensuring that we were following all of the steps and getting things done properly. One of the longest parts of the process was waiting for the FAVN results. Testing was delayed an extra 5-weeks due to supply and staff shortages. Dr. Travis took the time to keep me notified as our departure date was closing in and the results were not back. He went the extra mile to email me on a regular basis and once the results were in, he and his staff ensured the remaining steps and paperwork were done quickly. Once we arrived in Oahu, the transition went smoothly and our cat was released to us immediately. I used to come to this hospital before they remodeled it. Since they remodeled it, it has become outrageous the way they price things. I guess they had to pay for this big fancy building now. You never see the same vet anymore, and it is a constant rotating door it seems. So there's no continuity between visits. The vet we saw today seem to want to push aggressive measures, which were very costly, as opposed to trying the inexpensive route for a week of anabiotic's. Using fear, "your dog may have cancer on its leg" This visit turned from $100 visit to a $200+ dollar visit just to check it out, here, in this hospital under a microscope. She said if she can't figure it out she asto send it out to the lab for $300 just for a diagnosis. Seems like if I have a microscope and I know what I'm looking at I can tell without sending it out. ******Antibiotics from them $199.00 - From CVS and Costco $35.00 for Clavamox. Ripping of the vulnerable or who aren't willing/able to leave without the medicine and go to a pharmacy with the prescribed medicine.**** We saw Dr. Gustafson, awkward beside manner. We have seen Dr. Travis in the past he is great!! In my opinion this place is more about money that it is actually taken care of animals now. I was worried reading all the negative reviews so I had to write my personal experience. I had a really good experience at Pacific Animal Hospital yesterday. The receptionists are so very nice and helped accommodate getting my dog in. The techs were quick to put us in a room and the doctor followed in soon after. Her doctor was Dr. Jarra, I believe. The tech's name was Katie. They both were on the exam room floor giving my old lady love during the exam. I thought the extra care they put into everything was very sweet. My girl gets scared at the vet easy but I feel like they really helped ease her anxiety. I appreciate everything that you guys do!! read more

I won't specifically call out the female vet we saw by name but we won't be back to Pacific after 12.5 years of our dog going here we finally had enough! We went in last night with our dog vomiting and lethargic. The vet came in and told us she recommended X-rays and blood work to cover all of our basis. We asked how much the X-rays were then the blood work. The cost of the X-rays was insane and she told us that it's a good possibility X-rays wouldn't show us anything, so I asked if we could do the blood work first to see if that would show any signs of something and then go from there. She then told me verbatim "well I would recommend doing the X-rays in case it's bloat" I said well can we do the blood work first since you said the X-rays may not show us anything and she snapped back at us stating "well you go to the dr sometimes and don't get answers correct? So that's what this is" she was so rude! I was literally in tears and so pissed off. She then said that there's no time to waste if this is bloat... even though she had already had our dog in the back room since 3:30 and it was now 5! We ended up doing everything since she basically didn't give us any option and shocker... the X-rays showed NOTHING! We had reassured her our 12.5 year old dog didn't chew up and eat anything so there's no chance of a blockage and bloat just seemed far fetched for what we were dealing with. We ended up with an insane vet bill with zero answers! We then got home around 7 and we get a call from the same vet, she said I just wanted to let you know she has a tooth that should be taken care of soon! Like not even to see if our dog was ok but to add salt into the wound! She was HORRIBLE! Never ever ever again will we be back after going here for many years this was the straw that broke the camels back. read more

The reason I'm writing this is because I received no response to my email inquiry to set up an appointment so after 10 days I decided to call. Typically they responded within a day or two. Dr Jones was no longer there the last checkup but I wanted to have the same vet as last time to keep some sort of continuity of vets with my pets health. Basically what I was told was, we have a different dr. every day. That doesn't sound like the kind of care I want. She didn't offer to look up the last vet we had and schedule the first available appointment with her. After reading all the recent negative reviews, it no longer sounds like your pet comes first. If I can't get some positive answers before the appointment, I may have to cancel. UPDATE They called right after I posted this review and explained the email situation, the different Dr. every day situation (they are filling in for a vet who has been out and should be back next week) and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Jarrah who was the Vet that saw Hoggie last. I've been to pacific animal hospital at least 100 times. My specific complaint is going to be for dr Gerstema(I may have spelled that wrong) She rubs me the wrong way. The latest event that I have had with her is my boy max having pneumonia. I called the office cause he had labored breathing. They saw him that day. She walks in and says to me are you sure he has labored breathing? I take this very seriously. Yes, he does. I work in medical and I know what labored breathing is. A chest X-ray later and sure enough he had a bad case of pneumonia. 2 rounds of antibiotics later and he is still not 100%. I felt like she treated me like I was dumb. She has no compassion for animals or maybe no compassion for people? I'm sorry but I will spend any amount of money on my three animals but I do expect to have good service. Oh and Linda at the front desk really dislikes her job. She's so monotone in her voice. Seems miserable all the time. I finally have had it and have moved on. Dr Travis who used to own this place and when he did it was great! Now that they have been taken over it seems like it's just dollar signs. It's okay though I found where his new practice is and have moved on. Another thing I don't like about pacific animal hospital is how they take the animals in the back and do the exam and whatever else they need. I've had instances where I've had the anal glands done and they were not really done. I should not need to have them done a week later. The one good thing I have to say about this place is the vet techs. They were always nice to us and the animals! I hope that they do something to change this place fast. I have been taking my cat to PAH for 10+ years. This week I had to board my cat here while I was out of town, due to his medical needs. I am not one for writing reviews but the level of care and compassion Dr. Jennifer Gustafson showed for my cat while I was away left me in tears (of joy). She cared for my fur baby as if it was her own. I can not express how truly grateful I am with the level of care he received by her while I was away. I have been going to this vet hosp since 2011. This year I noticed they lost all of the doctors I was used to seeing. They also changed their format to one that resembles the VCA clinics, whom I avoid like the plague. I don't like that they now remove your pet to examine them. This makes removes the ability to talk to the doctor as they diagnose your pet realtime. I also prefer to see how my pet is being treated, and don't like the idea that she is being examined in a noisy, scary kennel setup. The prices also seem to have gotten much higher, I didn't find a vet there that I liked after there large personel exodus, so I changed to Oceanside Veterinary Hosp. I they still do things the old fashion way and see to your pet's comfort-and yours. read more

Denise and Dr. Nostrums were amazing! Along with a young guy who was shadowing Denise, very nice guy. Our dog chuck got a sudden eye infection during the holidays. We were visiting family in Oceanside, we are from the Bay Area, so you can imagine our uneasiness to go to a local vet we didn't know. They were extremely nice and explained everything they were doing. The best thing I liked was how they gave you price quotes on every procedure or medication. You never felt like they were charging you for something unnecessary, everything was explained and you gave the final say. First off the ladies at the front desk were so knowledgable and kind, they were able to help me very nicely with the million questions I had. Next was my experience with Dr. Lisek, coming in she was very kind and warm, she examined my little guy and we discussed all of our options. She was incredibly thorough and provided me with so much useful information about what he was going through, and how to make him the most comfortable. WORST! I do not recommend this Pacific animal hospital. No consideration from the Dr. Amy Jarrah. Brought my sisters dog in for a cytology ear test and X-ray. When I picked the dog up hours later, the doctor was not available to talk to. The assistant? Gave me TrizUltra fluid to drop in the dogs ears twice a day. I asked how was the test and X-ray. The assistant said the doctor will call me the next day. When I got home, I realize the TrizUltra fluid they gave me they charged $49 for. I looked up online just to see what kind of medicine it is for. I found it everywhere for $20 or less. It is dog ear cleaner. I waited for doctor to call me next day with results and also ask about the charges. Doctor never called! I tried calling them again leaving message to have doctor call me. Again, never called back with the dog's test results. So I talked to assistant who told me there is no infection. The liquid is to keep her ears clean. I told her that if it is just ear cleaner I don't want it, especially for $49! She said I have to keep it no returns. It is not fair since I never spoke with the doctor about the dogs condition and what that fluid was for. This animal clinic charges triple the price on their "meds", and also their service. The whole experience was very unprofessional! Do not waste your money. Find a different animal clinic for your pet. This place just wants your money! read more

Pacific Animal Hospital was amazing!!! My dog has high anxiety, we were not able to find a veterinarian that could help us get our dog Cash vaccinated and get his nails trimmed. Then I was referred to P.A.H. we were brought in on the side door straight into the patient room, which made a huge difference in Cash's anxiety level. Dr Jones was kind took her time to explain and was very understanding with Cash's situation. We also had the best assistance Katie she is trained to deal with high anxiety dogs, she was awesome!!!
