Had to replace my engine starter which they did after I purchased from AutoZone, within an hour and charged me a decent hourly amount for the labor. When I got my car back the plastic undercover was ripped out but as soon as I told them they went in under and reattached it with zip ties which was nice. Amazing experience! My previous mechanic told me I didn't need brakes, but I decided to get a second opinion. After a full inspection, they found that I needed new brake drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, and a hardware kit. They also discovered my brake fluid was leaking and fixed that as well. These guys tried to charge me 1.5 hours of labor to change a headlamp bulb. They said they just go by the recommended time in the VW book. Think this place is family owned. A few months ago I took my gti here for a check engine light problem. they did some work on it and the price was moderate. Think they had to replace my ignition wires and stuff. The next day when I went to pick it up I started it and engine light was off. Drove a block and it turned back on Took it back and they diagnosed it again and it said it was something else that was major. The dad who works there said he would take the parts back and give me a refund because the problem wasn fixed as it seemed to be something else. I think that was great of them to offer as some places wouldn be honest like that. I kept the parts and just considered it part of a tune up that I was gonna do eventually. I don't like to write negative reviews, but even though the people here were really friendly I will never return. They seemed a little vague, when I gave them a list of things I wanted checked for my 40,000 mile service. I asked them to check out a problem with my horn and one other thing, and they didn't say anything about that when I picked up the car. The price to me would've been fair, if they were more thorough. But the dealbreaker, was that I went in with my tires perfectly inflated to 34 pounds each. And, someone there who didn't know what they were doing, just stuck a hose up against them apparently and increased the pressure to 48 pounds, which is dangerous. I wouldn't of even have been aware of this except that my car has an automatic sensor for tire pressure. This caused me to doubt whether other things were not done, or not done properly. I considered taking it to another shop to see if there really was a new air filter, oil filter and spark plugs. At least I have a lot of options for car repair in San Pedro. read more

These guys are awesome! A while ago I had a parking break problem that no could fix and these guys did for a very affordable price. They also worked on my front end of my Frontier and did a great job. Recently my truck was over heating... took it to my dad's mechanic because he insisted and wasted 200.00 on parts I did not need and the over heating problem still persisted. Took it back to Pacific Auto Repair and they found the problem... fixed it again and my truck is running great now. I highly recommend them. They are also very fast and couple of times they even stayed late on a Saturday to get the repairs on my truck done knowing its the only transportation I have. Bunch of great guys, family owned. Dont come here. Brought my car in because it was smoking. Brought it in twice and both times it started smoking again 2 days later. The third time my pockets were a little hurt so I asked if they could just take a look and see if they can figure out what's wrong since Alberto(the mechanic who worked on my car) said both times it was fixed and that they had tested it and left it running and it was fine. He said cant do that gotta pay my employees and parts, alright I get it, but I brought my car in for you to make it stop smoking not for you to do everything else. Now my car doesnt even start. This crew at Pacific Auto Repair, headed by Father Alberto, and son Alberto Jr., deserves MORE than 5 stars! This is an unsolicited review, that I insisted writing, because I'm THAT grateful!!! Ever dream of finding mechanics who are 120 percent honest, and allways find the most affordable solution. They found a $650 solution to a problem another mechanic(Joe and Mikes' Automotive in San Pedro) had an $850-$7,000...yes...7 THOUSAND solution!!!...i had a miss-fire problem with the 6th cylinder of a Hemi V8 in a Police Package Dodge Charger G80, that was preventing the car passing a smog test. Thinking Pacific Auto looked too busy, I made the colossal mistake of taking it too Mike and Joes...and there Mr. Robert Jaurez insisted the only way to solve the issue was to put a whole new engine in -a new one with labor-$7,000, a good used engine with labor, roughly-$4,500. When I said that was way out my budget, and that I wanted to keep the engine and open it up...he basically didn't want the work...he said"well I have to look out for my guys...I will talk to the owner and tell him where we are at..." He started saying just the labor to open the cylinder would be $850 , not including parts, and that of course he would be replacing "all the lines" once he started opening the engine up. He implied, that with labor and parts that it would be nearly as expensive as a used engine. I know just enough about Police package Chargers to know Mr. Jaurez at Joe and Mikes Automotive was talking a massive load thieving donkey dung. This guy was unbelievable, calling us "neighbors" as we found out we lived nearby, as he tried to rob me of 6 thousand, and three hundred and fifty dollars. This is like robbery AND rape! if someone was trying to rob people of 6 grand plus in any other way, he would be in jail where he belongs..happily, the story doesn't end there,....enter the heroes!!-PACIFIC AUTO REPAIR!!!!!! Alberto SR. diagnosed the problem AND solution in 5 minutes-while Joe and Mikes took more than 8 hours to do the same. Instead of replacing a great unique engine,he replaced the manifold and a manifold intake gasket on the 6th cylinder , and to further reduce costs, found a good used parts which brought the price down. So instead of $850 to $7,000-LIKE Joe and Mike wanted, PACIFIC AUTO REPAIR fixed it for $650 !!!!!!-AND THEY COMPLETED THE SMOG CHECK FOR ME TOO FREE OF CHARGE!!!!!INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Also bare in mind, Joe and Mikes base cost estimate for $850 ONLY covered the labor to open the engine-so with parts-Joe and Mikes cheapest would have been around $1, 300...but they were insisting that a new engine or a new used engine was the ONLY way...meaning $4, 500-$7,000, was the only way!?!?!Well, PACIFIC AUTO REPAIR found another way for $650!!!!!!!!!!!
