Hermann Park Pedal Boats provides a fun outdoor experience in the heart of the city…read more It costs $12 per boat. One boat seats up to 4 people; two peddlers in the front and two riders in the back. The boats are equipped with a sun shade (thank goodness - it can get hot out there on the open water!) and a simple steering stick in the middle. The boat isn't hard to operate; just pedal forwards or backwards and use the stick to direct the boat. A word of caution: wear waterproof shoes! The space for the pedals can fill with water, and our feet definitely got wet. Our pedals were also a little on the rusty side, and mine squeaked angrily the whole ride. The views are fun from the center of the lake. You can see all around the park, including the central fountain and the iconic Pioneer Memorial Obelisk. Lots of geese, ducks, and turtles in the water. The geese like to come up to the boats, and there was even one or two that wanted to greet us on the way in.
