If I could give Pacific Cascade a negative rating, I would. I hired this firm to help me fight for custody of my children during one of the most important and vulnerable times of my life. Instead, after nearly a year of delays, broken promises, and tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees, I was left in a far worse position than when I started. The first attorney assigned to my case behaved inappropriately and was ultimately terminated by the firm. My replacement attorney then spent months assuring me my case was moving forward, only for the firm to withdraw from representing me just five weeks before trial. After years of preparation and waiting for my day in court, I was suddenly forced to represent myself in a case that would determine my future with my children. I spent thousands of dollars complying with their demands, including multiple hair follicle tests costing hundreds of dollars each, yet they still used compliance issues as the reason for withdrawing at the last minute. They without explication blocked my number and email correspondence, in fact it was the courts who notified me of their withdrawal. They made Communication impossible, and I felt completely abandoned when I needed representation the most. And they did this all 5-weeks before a court date i waited almost a year for; making finding a replacement attorney impossible.  It felt equivalent to sabotage and has left me questioning if there was more to the timing than meets the eye.  Today, I am left with an enormous legal bill, a damaged custody case, and the belief that trusting this firm was one of the biggest mistakes I could have made. Based on my experience, I would NOT recommend Pacific Cascade to anyone facing a serious family law matter. Do not use this law firm, they seem very professional at first, but in the end, they never accomplished anything. halfway through my divorce case I needed to hire another firm to represent me. Pacific legal was not turning in requested Docusign documents to meet court date requirements. When asked about the documents they always reassured me that everything was turned in. the court found me liable for the delay of turning over time sensitive documents. Even though my new counsel provided proof I was turning in the documents the court still found in favor of the other party. another $4,000 owed. when asking to speak to someone at Pacific legal they refused to discuss this problem. They either fired my previous council or he resigned, either way they were not helpful, and, in the end, they accomplished nothing and charged me well over $22,000 read more

Save your money, don't hire Pacific Cascade Legal. You're probably better off going without any representation, instead of wasting tens of thousands of dollars on their "service." I hired this firm to represent me in responding to a petition for divorce. After calling a handful of other firms initially, I thought I was choosing the best option. It seemed expensive to retain them ($5k), but since it's an extremely important life-changing situation for me and my kids, I wanted quality representation. I wish I could go back in time and stop myself, truly. I've paid them 20k in legal fees for the same sort of "legal advice" a random acquaintance might give. During mediation, I was offered a wacky settlement proposal that I didn't fully understand. It seemed unfair in the long run, but had an initial distraction payout price to lure me into signing ASAP. My lawyer was quiet and unhelpful during the zoom meetings with the mediator, and they were answering emails/calls with other clients during the breaks, when I could have been receiving guidance or advice. I had to ask afterward in an email what they really thought about the proposal. Their response was basically, 'losing all your child support would be scary, but hey, that check would sure be nice to have right after signing!' It feels like I paid 20k for nothing, honestly. I hired this firm in 2021, and the female lawyer undermined me to the point she should be disbarred. i informed her that my soon to be ex-wife had already harmed me and that i did not feel safe around her. I usually am not a person who writes bad reviews, But I cannot stand by and let another person lose their money and their trust in the system and if you go with Pacific Cascade, you will be doing exactly that. They advertise that they fight for you, but all they fight for is themselves and money. I put my trust in this law firm thinking they would be my advocate, but I was so wrong. My attorney Sara Bain is someone that doesn't care about you or your case, she is there just to rack up the money and leave you when she gets what she can. She never knew my case, the most incompetent attorney I have ever seen. After my judgement she emails me at 12:30am and tells me that my case didn't go my and she will be on vacation for the next week. Never even had the decency to call me and explain what it all meant, I emailed her and when she got back to me days later, she said "it seems like" what kind of answer from an attorney is "it seems like". The incompetence this firm has is unbelievable. People might look at this and say I'm just bitter that the outcome wasn't better. Trust me I don't care about what I lost, it's just material things. I truly don't want another person going through what I went through with Her and this firm. Like many of these reviews I wish I could gave a 0 star rating. While I enjoyed working with my provided attorney, I soon realized that this firm is practicing predatory billing practices and it becomes obvious very quickly after you begin working with them. They change the prices for hourly charges for legal assistants after a couple billing cycles. They do not inform you of this. Every time you place money in escrow it becomes their goal to burn through that as quickly as possible with detailed invoices full of gibberish "work that was done" After requesting multiple times that no work was done without my knowledge and consent, and told that would be respected, I made yet another escrow deposit and it was burned through before I could even ask what was being worked on. This happened many times but I couldn't leave for having to start the whole process over with a new firm. I never even made it to a hearing in my family law case and finally solved it on my own. I then started receiving invoices for work that was required to be done after my case was closed. I tried to dispute these charges and that's when you find out what this firm really is. Billing and collections, not legal representation. That is my opinion of how I was treated as a client, and how I was treated post-client. I can say I have ready through the reviews on this site and agree with every single negative comment I have seen and can confirm that I was victim of the same types of treatment. I experienced Malpractice here from Attorney Lauren Barnhart. I hired them July 2019. She failed to serve papers to my ex, allowing her to leave the state with my child by Sept. 2019. Then she Abandoned my case at the end of October, changing law firms with only 1 day notice to me. The firm said they would retain my case, "at a reduced price." I had a very simple case and the lawyers literally was chasing issues that didn't matter and I told them not to just to bill me a ridicules amount of money. My retainer of 3K was gone with just one phone call with my council. and after I told them I can afford this and need to go elsewhere they hit me with another $500 just to fire them. I understand that legal matters are expensive but I couldn't believe how much time they would waste just to rack my bill higher! I am not happy to say that I went through a very challenging 2 years trying to mitigate many levels of fraud in a custody case, and in that effort I had to hire many attorneys. I hired Pacific Cascade Legal on one front and it was the most expensive, most difficult, and most useless experience of any of my dealing with attorneys ever, that quite literally got me nothing. Zero stars. They took me on, I got my attorney up to speed, my attorney got sick & had to leave the firm, they tried to fire me at a point that would have left me unrepresented in court. I begged to be transferred to another attorney & was treated as if I was the problem, not the loss of their attorney. After a lot of harm done I was moved to another attorney, the new attorney likely didn't like the complexity in my case (after being paid a lot to get up to speed) and so they closed me out. I was provided no explanation but had to pay for the close out and the expensive process in transfer of attorneys. I paid many thousands of dollars literally for nothing, and was left without representation. They took no responsibility for the costs associated with things that had nothing to do with my case, but rather issues in the firm. I was expected to pay for their firms problems, and then to pay for attorneys to repeat things already done, I could go into a lot of detail here to explain many levels of unethical practice but I wont, this is a very light brush over. In short, clients are treated as a dollar sign, and they threaten to fire clients if you ever point out what is going on or the lack of ethics involved. The owner had calls with me where he assured me the firm would not do XYZ (regarding concerning small print in the contract), but that they "cant alter the contracts, they are just standard". I was lied to just to get me to sign on. Once you are signed on they make thousands even if they decide to fire you the next day. So my experience of care as a client was like night and day between when they are trying to get you to sign on and once you are on. For the record, I loved my first attorney & I feel bad that she was working for this place. I genuinely feel the toxic people there contributed to the recurrence of her cancer. And for more context, I was an unemployed single mother who was coached into letting the owner know how much savings I had to deal with all that was going on, and once that information was out of the bag, I became a dollar sign, with no care for draining me to the point of homeless. Is there anything below a one star?! Kimberly Brown took over my divorce case mid-way and I never really heard from her. She did not answer my questions and her legal aide did not reach out to me. The only consistent communication was the billing department. I was promised monthly breakdowns of what they were charging and that only happened when I refused to pay until I had one. I let her go before the final hearing and was charged for her withdrawing as my attorney. Big eye roll here. I know she is only one attorney there and others may be honest and professional. I was not given a choice of her taking over my case and was very disappointed after a nine month custody battle to have to go into the final hearing alone. It never even got filled after he said it was! He gave bad advice, had us do all the work for his paralegal and they never returned phone calls and took weeks to reply to our emails. We put down our retainer in April and saw NO MOVEMENT on our case so requested our retainer back end of June. They wasted our time in gathering an extensive amount of paperwork and form filling out on our part. They managed to spend $2,412.26 dollars and did absolutely nothing for me. These trumped-up charges were for emails they never responded too promptly (again, 2+ week delays) and unreturned phone calls. I hope more people read these yelp reviews and listen like I wish I had. Worst experience I could imagine! Charged a lot but failed to represent me during my divorce. Attorney hasn't met with me until the day of the hearing; did not know anything about my case, and did not respond when the other side falsely accused me of outrageous things which could be easily disproven if only Mr. Buie actually read my emails to him. As a result, my IT-professional husband claimed to be a primary parent, and I ended up forced to leave the family home and pay him $900/month in child support, with the custody 50/50! I am seeking legal help on a case. Many law firms just want to collect a consultation fee and be done with you, as it's ridiculously easy money. I got a consult from another attorney who at the end of the talk told me it wasn't his specialty and he was booked up. So I came to Lander Holm Law seeking a different experience. I asked them up front before scheduling the consult if it was a case they could take, they assured me that it was, and that I indeed had a strong case. So I went forward with the consult with a lawyer named William Jones. He said I had a case and he said he needed to check internally to ensure there were no conflicts with any of their staff. So I emailed him on March 11 and still no response from him. We called and left them a message 2 days ago with assurances they would call back within one day, no phone call. These guys are typical lawyers just wanting to earn a quick buck and not help people one bit. Beware. read more

Absolutely horrible! I had a question years ago about a family law situation. I was put in touch with an attorney and since I was on a quick deadline, I was told I needed to pay upfront before I spoke with her. I did. I received her consult. There was a little back and forth because I had a quick question regarding her opinion -- I wanted to be certain I understood correctly. As others mentioned, I was passed around, and FINALLY got a 10 minute call which was over quickly. I called back to retain the lawyer and I was told... wait for this because this is truly classic... SHE WAS NO LONGER WITH THE FIRM! This company charged me an upfront fee to consult with a lawyer who wasn't even going to be available to represent me! Now, several years later, they have been literally non-stop emailing to inform me they were going to send me to collections for $189. That's 30 minutes this woman apparently padded her books with on the way out, without telling me she wasn't available for actual representation. I am in the process of reporting this firm to this Bar. Look them up -- they have been reported and Mr. Landerholm reprimanded several times. RUN! read more

Zero stars would be great to post, however, by now most people expect that 1 star means the same thing as zero or less. Beware. I am moving forward with the ethics complaint with the State Bar Association and I will be posting an honest review of this company with every message board, blog and review I can find. This firm was hired to do a job they had agreed was the best course of action. After they got my money, they try to force a different course of action that would only yield further litigation costs and injury to my child and myself. Sarah Bain was assigned to my case. She had admitted that she had not dealt with an out of state custody issue but reassured me that the Senior partners had and would be overseeing the case. After payment was received by the firm, and Sarah was appointed the case, She called to gather information. She had suggested a different course of action as did the first person there that I consulted with, and also agreed that the actions they were retained for was the best way to go. At the conclusion of this phone call, Sarah stated that she would begin drafting the papers and would send me a copy to review within the next few days. After 10 days without hearing from them, I called to check the status of the papers she was supposedly drafting. By the time she returned my call, I was on the road. Cellular service was poor and communications then moved to emails. From this point on is where I get reminded that anytime you are dealing with an attorney, email should be your only method of communication and kept in writing (especially with your own attorney). Everything in writing is the only way you can prove what they told you and then didn't do. The multiple emails that followed over the course of a few weeks each started with Sarah pushing her agenda of this different course of action. Each one ended with me requesting they move forward with the course they were retained for. It then escalated to Sarah emailing one of the Senior Partners William Jones and CC the email conversations to me where she is asking them if she is not being clear enough of the course of action she has continued to take in spite of my very clear wishes she do what they were retained to do. During all of this, Sarah had made multiple misrepresentations of what the proceedings are and waiting periods in order to push her course of action as the correct one. Apparently William Jones believes that all his firms clients haven't any knowledge of any legal issues, practices or remedies and legal definitions. HIs emails consisted of legal analogies that basically equate to comparing an apple to an orange as though you wouldn't know the difference and just take his word for it. I may not be a lawyer, but I have been through this with my EX for over 10 years now having had to represent myself in much of it. All the information you need to handle any legal issue is available to you for free through your states websites. You hire an attorney because they should be proficient with the law, and its a little complicated to navigate the court system. On top of that, the courts hate you for representing yourself. But you should always research the laws, court proceedings and family code to ensure what your attorney tells you is the truth. Most of the papers you will receive from an attorney that was filed with the court is verbatim from these codes. The end result was this firm charged me $4,000 to push me to do something other than what they were hired to do. $4,000 yeilded zero attorney work product, a delay court proceedings and further injury to my child and myself. read more

I should have ran as far away as possible after my first phone appointment, as he wasn't available when this firm actually set initial phone appointment. I decided to go with it and give the firm the benefit of doubt because things happens. I waited 51 days to find out Micheal Reid was too busy and Jeanette decided it was best to assign Micheal Trotter to my divorce case. All the money spent up until that point was wasted. I got assigned a different attorney with zero family law experience. This firm will over bill with and have zero communication. After I decided that I will no longer be represented by a law firm that only cares about over charging and is completely disorganized. I needed to share my experience with Natalie Thorp from landerholm law in Portland, OR. I can't express what an awful experience I had, not to mention completely let down. I felt 100% judged and mistreated. I paid $8,000 dollars to in the end be abandoned and left to hire another lawyer in the middle of my case. She did nothing my new lawyer said she should have done. I was raped and physically abused and Natalie made me feel that it wasn't important and actually told me that I sounded manic. My new lawyer went in a completely different direction and accomplished more in one day than she had in a whole month. It was a complete waste of my money and she accomplished nothing except making me feel like I had done something wrong when the fact of the matter is I'm a victim. Worst experience of my life. My attorney is Lauren! She is amazing and I absolutely love her! When I came in to do my initial interview I asked about these reviews! Unfortunately because of confidentiality issues, landerholm law can't defend themselves in a family court issue. Keep in mind emotions are in the line and people lose because they hand attorneys scraps of papers, inaccurate information, wrong dates etc. so when you hire an attorney it's your job to help them help you and ultimately the judge decides! I contacted landerholm in the beginning and at first I was upset about "something" they resolved the issue and redirected me and I couldn't have been happier!I have had nothing but great results. We have not won our case and it's still sensitive and we could lose. But I watched our attorney somewhat shake and become passionate about our situation and kept her composure and kept the information brief so she didn't give to much information. She has the green light for us to go to trial! If you are not successful in your case, money could be the factor. Your attorney is your voice! So make sure you give them the information they need to be successful for you! Anyone reading this needs to know that it's expensive to fight custody and a divorce. I was a client of this firm for a short time! I originally started off with a Do It Yourself package where I get 5 thirty minute consultations to help prepare for the case I was going through. The first attorney assigned to me,Jack, helped me fill out court documents and wrote up a letter as a response to the opposing party. When I filed it with the court the court advised me that the documents were done wrong and basically all the information needed to be redone! This initially irritated me and I called demanding to speak to someone in charge. I was given a meeting with Will their supervisor attorney. He smooth talked the situation over to where I felt satisfied with having a different attorney working with me. I was given a different attorney names Heather. Heather was nice and corrected the issue. I was soon later able to find a family friend to loan me the $3000 so called retainer. I then met with Heather to discuss full representation with the retainer. Come to find out the retainer is a trust account and has to always maintain a $3000 balance. I expressed concern to Heather that due to not knowing how much it would cost to work the case I was unsure if I could afford a $1000 Radom bill. She agreed and understood my financial situation and advised the firm would work with me on a payback plan. Low and behold my first invoice was $1200. I immediately contacted the firm and asked about a payment plan. I advised how much I could financially afford to pay them. After a week of waiting was told they would not be able to accept my offer and didn't provide any other option. After dealing with the Jack situation and now the lie of working with their clients, especially one who was very open about his financial limitations I decided I would drop their representation! read more

I wish I would have read the reviews prior to paying my retainer. I requested the balance of the retainer be refunded to me as I no longer needed their services. That was over a month ago!! The Attorney assigned to my case answered my questions in the beginning. I never had any questions again, yet was billed $38 a month out of my retainer. After contacting and requesting a refund. I was told it would be sent over to the billing department and closed out and the refund would be sent out by end of the week, October 28th. I've had no response from anyone in billing as to the status of the refund. They were in a hurry to take my money. Constant emails/calls, asking for me to sign the contract and pay the retainer, but not so much as to refund it. Very disappointing, as people are usually in a vulnerable situation when needing to look for an Attorney. Having never needed one and not knowing what/where/why/how to go about my particular situation, I felt taken advantage of in the end. read more

So the blood sucking continues! I just received ANOTHER bill from this joke of a firm after paying my FINAL bill. Apparently they had to close my case again?? This is after several follow up emails, after I had paid my FINAL bill asking for more money. Seriously, I'm about to go to the Better Business Bureau or something. These people are ridiculous! I will be brief. Do not use this law firm. They changed their name from Landerholm Law to Pacific Cascade Family Law and their email and website still uses the Landerhold Law name. Very confusing and it is difficult to track email from them. The firm has grown quite large with many attorneys. I think it is just a factory for collecting fees. My relationship with my lawyer started out fine until she switch to this firm. Beware of doubling billing if your case is transferred to another lawyer or they train another junior lawyer to handle your case. I will billed for work by two attorneys conferring with each other on my case and never received the email from the opposing party that they were conferring about until 11 days later after I got the bill. I also received email that was supposed to go to another client. Several times email was either delayed for several days or never sent. Bills indicate $0 owed as they take money out of you trust account and then you have to read an email attachment to see what the actual bill is. I recommend using a small law firm where you have a more personal relationship and do not get stuck in a billing factory. read more

Landerholm family law is a joke, these people jerk me around for about 2 years holding on to my money and when I asked for my money back they assured me that they could handle the situation just like they promised. Every single time I talk to them they wanted a complete recap on everything that happened they did not take any notes and then they swapped my lawyer in the middle of everything after several meetings just to recap on my case. Once I finally had a new lawyer the ball started rolling. All I was asking for is my child support to be corrected because I was paying into child support that I didn't owe and apparently that cost over $7,000 to do when I was told that my $3,500 retainer was plenty by my original lawyer. Without consulting me they went ahead and served the person I was up against so now they know exactly what's going on yet they sucked up all my money in my account and are holding their hands out asking for more. And no they did not suck up my money doing anything useful they don't even have half of the case finished. So without any recollection to any of our prior conversations they have literally been harassing me for money. And it took me having three separate conversations with three separate people before they finally got the point that I don't have the money to proceed with my case and I've got nothing but attitude from the people that run the office. They snark at you. Do not land at landerholm, their firm is literally a joke and you are going to just dump a bunch of money and they're going to basically f*** your case up because of the fact that they don't communicate very well or handle business professionally.
