Before: Ugly bathroom with odd toilet, oversized vanity relative to the space, and moldy shower tiles.

TL;DR: Pacific Craft Construction is an up and coming, full-service construction company that produces exceptional quality at a good price, in a highly collaborative manner. We could not be more pleased with how our bathroom remodel turned out. In addition, a number of unrelated issues arose with our home while remodeling the bathroom. Pacific Craft Construction eagerly and easily resolved those as well. They can really do it all; no subcontractors needed. Full Review: We purchased our current home three years ago and have made a number of improvements including to the windows, floors, roof, fencing, and landscaping, as well as interior and exterior paint. The tradesmen we hired to complete these projects varied in terms of reliability and quality of the work. Combined with our experience doing similar projects on our previous home, we had had enough negative experiences to give us pause at trying to do any major renovations. However, our (only) bathroom for a family of four became unbearable as we endured these long coronavirus days at home (see before pic), so we decided to roll the dice and attempt a remodel. We did some research, checking out various construction company websites and consuming reviews we could find. We solicited bids from three companies, two from well-established companies and a third from a relatively new company. Josh, the owner and lead craftsman of Pacific Craft Construction (the newer company), came to look at the bathroom, discussed options with us, and turned around a competitive bid quickly. It was clear from that initial conversation, in which he recommended leaving the cast iron tub since it was in good shape, that he wasn't going to try to upsell or make the project more complicated than it needed to be. After receiving all three bids, we knew we wanted to work with Pacific Craft Construction. Luckily, they were able to book our job for the exact timing we preferred, when we'd be out of the house for vacation. We had a few weeks before the project began to select and order materials. Josh was highly collaborative during that time, and it was helpful to get his take on which materials would both look nice and not be a huge pain to maintain. He was also able to pull a permit during that time, even though the process was a bit more complicated due to COVID-19. Josh and his assistant Timmy began the job right on schedule. Josh communicated daily about progress, since we weren't at home, and consulted with us on unforeseen challenges (e.g., needing to fix shoddy plumbing from a previous remodel) and design choices (e.g., the size and placement of the shower niche), always with a positive and accommodating spirit. They used the main materials (e.g., tile, fixtures, sink, toilet) we selected in advance plus high-grade building materials. For example, all of the trim in our bathroom is real wood (not MDF), scribed to the exact dimensions needed, and the fancy grout they used will stay sealed for much longer than typical grout. While we were out of the house for most of the remodel, we did need to stop back to resupply a few times. From our visits, some announced, others not, it was obvious that Pacific Craft Construction keeps a tidy workspace. In addition, they taped off open rooms that weren't being remodeled with plastic sheeting to avoid spreading dust all over. While the remodel took longer than initially planned, it was mostly due to the fact that Pacific Craft Construction does not sacrifice quality for speed. For example, they took the time to cut and place the tile as precisely as possible, even considering how the veins from one tile would flow to the next. They retextured the walls to create a more uniform look. I could go on and on about the attention to detail. As someone with perfectionist tendencies, this tradeoff was worth it. The "Craft" in Pacific Craft Construction is well-earned. These truly are craftsmen working on your home. During the remodel, we had several other home issues emerge, and it was great to have Josh and Timmy on hand. Just ahead of the bathroom remodel we replaced our refrigerator only to find that the new one didn't quite fit and the old one was leaking and had ruined the surrounding cabinetry (it was a moldy mess). Pacific Craft Construction was able to salvage most of the cabinetry and rebuild the remainder with ease. In addition, while passing by our gas meter on the outside of our home, Josh and Timmy noticed a leak (unrelated to the bathroom remodel). The gas company came out and had to shut off service, and indicated that the fix could be quite extensive. In a matter of hours, Josh was able to repair the line rather than create a new supply line, which would have cost a ton and set us back days. Overall, we had a great experience working with Pacific Craft Construction and we're already planning a next set of smaller projects for them to tackle. We highly recommend this company to anyone in the area looking to improve your home.

If you are planning on doing an addition, do yourself a favor and hire Erik Foster and his crew…read more  My wife and I are the type to tackle our own projects, but when we decided to add 800 square feet to our existing 1,300 square foot home we knew we needed professionals.  After many unfortunate events with another subcontractor, Erik Foster crossed our project's path and was a breath of fresh air. To meet someone in the trade that knew what they were doing, took pride in their work, and communicated up front any issues or decisions that had to be made was what we were looking for.  Erik and his crew took over our stalled addition; they fixed the existing floor framing, laid the sub-floor, raised the walls and trusses, sided the addition, sheeted the roof, and dry walled the interior.  They also installed all the new windows, hung the exterior doors, and installed the faux batten boards for the entire house exterior with meticulous detail. Erik took over a broken project and made it right for my family and that in itself says it all.  His crew hustled on the job site even when nobody was looking and showed up to work on time with a smile on their faces and looked you in the eye when communicating.  With an addition there is always surprises and Erik was upfront with what to expect and more importantly dealt with the unexpected professionally.  There was a lot of our project that my wife and I ended up doing ourselves, some planned and some not, but Erik was a great resource in pointing us in the right direction when we had questions.  Erik and his crew are a refreshing reminder of how people are supposed to be; hard working, take pride in their work, do what they say, and respect their customers as people just like them.

Erik made short work of our project, and was more than reasonably priced. We would definitely use…read moreFosters Framing again.

Sorry to hear about issues with other homeowners. We built a single floor home with Pahlisch in…read moreVendage in Hillsboro OR, selected the lot in April 2019 and closed Feb 2020. There are/were 5 other builders in the development including 4 custom builders Westlake, Suteki, and Anlon, who built some of the street of dreams homes 5 houses away from us. We reviewed full custom option but found the floor plan that fit our needs perfectly with Pahlisch. The lot purchase and floor plan selected was pretty straight forward, and they even designed a special design elevation that was not offered, to fit our style, We were fully aware of exactly what was included in the base price (i did my due diligence) and paid additional for quite a few upgrade options to fit our exact needs. There were a few "design salon" issues during selection and construction but all were dealt with quickly and professionally. Moved in Feb 2020 and had the normal 15-20 small issues which occurs on new construction. Pahlisch and contractors reacted quickly and took care of everything to our satisfaction. They are not the cheapest builder and are not 100% custom builders but we love our floor plan, we have no issues with overall quality, and with the upgrades and changes we chose, we feel it separates us from others. HOA issues are something totally different and not indicative of the home or build. Overall we love the home and would recommend this development to others. If we have any negatives that keeps it from being a 5 star , it would address HVAC system installation and the quality of that contactors work, where we had three significant wiring error issues, which were resolved quickly once they were brought to Pahlisch' s attention. Still not 100% sure how it made it past both our home inspector and the City Building Electrical Inspection not functioning or wired properly. Also i would have difficulty recommending the landscaping company they chose and we paid additional for them to provide upgraded landscaping that fit our needs. This is our fourth home and we are fully aware of pricing and issues with water features, trees, plants, clay soil and water runoff and drainage. Landscaping and hardscaping was significantly overpriced in our opinion and needed constant mentoring and inspection for quality. Yard landscaping and drainage from heavy raining was a bit of a battle but they did attempt to resolve our issues except for the clay ground issue. We had 4 trees and +/- 30 plants die in first 8 months due to flooding and poor soil. Eventually changed landscaping companies, cancelled the maintenance contract after on year and had to redo our backyard entirely from scratch again with a better landscaping company. Again, overall my wife and I both love our home, and are now very pleased with it. Expect some issues with new homes, it has happened to us each build and nothing is turn-key, do your due diligence in advance and stay on top of things. Overall Pahlisch reacted quickly and resolved our issues to our satisfaction.

The first occurred about 3 years after we purchased, and they said "no warranty". 4 more leaks later, and I think it is workmanship that is the problem. And they don't stand behind their workmanship. How much to fix? So far, almost $200,000. Yes that is right, almost $200,000. And absolutely no contact from Pahlisch in response to our requests to discuss. So, be thoughtful and plan to go it alone if you have issues with your Pahlisch Home! Maybe, don't buy one!
