I had them over to give me an estimate on having a gate replaced I was told I'd get the estimate the next day and they would do the work on Saturday. It is March 2025, I worked with Darren getting the estimate. On the day of the job, the crew arrived unloaded everything and got down to business. The team was incredibly efficient, friendly and helpful. They allowed me to learn and I was even able to use my own power tools a little to help them. By 2 o'clock they were finished and I had a beautiful fence. When Darren came by later to consult with me and look at the fence, I was happy to learn the employees that worked so hard are actually full-time W-2 employees that have insurance. I know it's difficult for businesses to provide these things sometimes. They are juggling paying their employees a good wage, purchasing materials they need that are good quality, making a profit themselves, paying taxes... And then the time spent by the workers fixing the posts securely in place, making sure the fence was straight and aligned and that the two by fours at the top and bottom were evenly installed so that the fencing itself and the lattice would be placed securely and artistically. I just had a huge 47' fence, 9'+ high with lattice and a 3' retaining wall put in my backyard. They were replacing an old, falling down one with a few issues to deal with upon replacing. The guys did it in 2 short days. I had just landscaped the backyard which included plants, lighting and a drip system last year. I would have preferred to have the fence done first, but I didn't have the luxury. I appreciated the diligent efforts of the guys to disturb as little as possible while working on a big job. There was so much going on it was impossible for it to be perfect, but I appreciated their effort. Some plants were hiding in weeds (apparently I need a gardener too). Also, if anything was wrong, the guys were more than happy to fix it. The fence is outstanding. There was so much detail that went into it! What an upgrade. It was a little higher, to accommodate the increasing dirt behind my house, and increased my privacy. I had a front fence put up last year by someone else. And it's a nice fence too. But had I known about Pacific Fence, I would have chosen them. Great work! read more

Craig was scheduled to come early in the morning for a fence job at our home. As I was about to leave for work, I went outside with my ice cooler to bring him and his team water, juice and granola bars since I knew the fence job would take a couple of hours, and I was appreciative of their work and very excited about having the fence finally being set up. As I approached, I said to Craig I came to bring them some snacks and he turns to look at me and asks if "I had come to bring them TAMALES" I am a young Latina woman and I GUARANTEE that thought and question would not have crossed his mind had my white fiancé or his mom come out with an ice cooler to bring water or snacks to them. I know it was because of my appearance, even though I was dressed to go to work, that he associated me with that. I told him that no, I was not there to give them tamales, that I was in fact the daughter in law of the homeowner and I live here and wanted to give them some water bottles and snacks for the day. His comment was completely inappropriate and incredibly embarrassing for me as he said this in front of his team, setting a poor example of stereotyping his customers. It's unfortunate, his teams work was decent on the home however I cannot support a business that its owner is quick to stereotype people of color in 2017, let alone in Santa Cruz. read more

I contacted Pacific Fence 4 times in one week and left 3 messages asking for a call back in regard to a new fence. Only after the fourth time did I get a call. Craig Anderson, the owner, started out by telling me that he couldn't call people back every day, that he had health problems and besides he was overwhelmed. I made it clear that I would have appreciated the courtesy of a call back just to let me know if he wanted the job. He told me in a rather rude way to find another fence company. Based on the customer 'service' or lack thereof I would not recommend this company. This is not the way to talk to a potential customer. Most unprofessional person I have ever met. Craig Anderson came by my house to go over a bid. I was unable to be at my house the first time he came by due to fighting the wildland fire at Paradise, so he spoke with my father. I had a few questions and changes I wanted to make to the original bid. I asked him a few questions he felt where repetative because I can only assume he told my father the answers and began to be short with me. I then asked him if he would be hauling away the old fence material and he asked he if I could read. The bid stated the owner which was me would take down the fence but nothing about hauling the material away. Criag Anderson then pretended to slap my face which is when I asked him to leave. I have never been more disrespected by someone I was intending to hire and spend $5800 dollars to put up a fence. read more

We were looking for a fence builder to install a fence so our dogs could roam our small property. A friend said to call Craig Anderson at Pacific Fence. We had only a vague idea of what we wanted but we knew we didn't want something obtrusive. Craig came over and had some ideas for us on the spot. Wow I cant believe some people. I contacted Craig for some fence repair and he was going out of town and couldnt meet for a couple of weeks. I said no problem, when and what time? He said Monday April 21st at 9:30 and I agreed. I arranged for the time off work and so did my tenant along with my neighbor. I showed up a couple of minutes early and my tenant informs me that Craig came at 9:00 and took a look at the fence, left his card and left. My tenant told him he thought I as coming at 9:00 which I had arranged for a plumber to meet me who had called to tell me he would be late. So without calling me, Craig decided I wasnt coming and left. I was not happy and when I expressed this to him he put it back on me, without an apology or anything. As a matter of fact, he called me and told me he wasnt going to do the job. All he had to do was call or wait a few minutes and I would have been there at the time agreed upon.
