Mic is the real deal with excellent customer service, unbeatable prices, and meticulous attention to detail that results in outstanding results. When it came time to rebuild our front stairs and potentially add some patio/decking around the house we spoke to nine different contractors. Michel struck us right away because he spent the time thoroughly looking the area and taking measurements; his visit was super informative and he even took time to recommended design modifications to our original idea. He was very patient with us and explained in detail from his personal experience the reason why we should consider his suggestions. He dealt with us very politely and never demerited our uneducated thoughts. After his visit he took the time to draft up 3 different blue-prints and we were very impressed by his thoughtfulness and dedication to his designs. Later we found out he is a Landscape Architect from Berkeley (WOW), and it really shows in his designs and final product. After a few months of working at our house we were lucky to become very good friends. I look up to his ethics and hard work and feel finding a man as dedicated and hard working at he is a real rarity. He works alone day in day out, he meticulously pick wood pieces from the lumber yard, he makes precise measurements in 1/32nd increments, his cuts and joints are are precise like he's making upscale furniture. After he completed our stairs we were so impressed we hired him to build over 1000 square feet of decking for our house as well. We chose California Fence primarily because of Bill. This may sound silly but part of the reason is because when he come over to meet with us and provide a quote, he was covered with dirt and sawdust, which reinforced what he was telling us - He is on the job working with his crew all day unless running out to do a quote. He listened to our needs and gave us experienced feedback. We had a medium sized tree which needed removing and killing, which he also did, and he needed to work around a gas line to our fire pit. We liked his attention to detail and his straight to the point matter. After answering our questions he immediately brought out his tape measure, little book and pencil and worked out a quote. His crew is composed of his family and a couple of family friends that have been working with Bill for years. They were all very friendly and respectful and seemed to share Bill's attention to detail. Bill and crew were always available to us and responsive to any questions we may have had.
