(Review in Progress) My Background: Looking to upgrade my families boat to a new MB Surf Boat (Also looking at ATX, Malibu, Tige, Axis, Moomba). California Skier is the 4th dealership I have dealt with over the past two months, in my pursuit to find the best Surf Boat under 100k range. Location: California Skier is 2 minutes from Lake Elsinore. They have a huge lot which looks like it stores boats and does service. They have a huge pro shop with one of the BEST selection of Surf Boards, Wakeboards, Life Jackets, that I have seen from all dealerships I have visited. They have 2020 Wakesurf Board that are sold out everywhere in stock, very impressed at what a hidden gem they are. They sell Mastercraft, MB and some other boats as well. Customer Service Experience: I have been dealing with "Mike Cardoni" at California Skier. On my first phone call, he literally will talk your ear off because you get the feeling he loves what he does, selling you a boat. I was interested in the MB Boats, so he went heavily into the rich history of the MB boat lines (Mike Brendel, the owner of MB). When I first visited their shop, Mike spent a good two hours with me allowing me to clime all over their boats while he answered any questions I had, never once making me feel rushed. We set up a time for me to return with my wife to do a Demo of the F22 Alpha I was interested in. Out of all 4 dealerships, this was the only one that right off the bat offered me a demo, the other 3 dealers were hesitant even talking about nor offering a demo. Demo Experience: We returned on Mike's DAY OFF, and he was willing to spend as much time as we wanted while the business was closed, on his day off to demo the boat. We spent a good hour on the boat, learned the basics of the MB Boat line. Issue #1 . . . the front ballast bag had a tear, pouring water into the engine bay, adding way too much weight to the rear of the boat, could not demo the boat to its potential to see its surf waves, but I did see that MB boats have a GREAT WAKEBOARD WAKE! It is not Mike's fault, accidents happen. He immediately felt bad, I could see it in his face, and he immediately offered me to come back out and try the demo again, and offered to bring two boats so I can properly compare and contrast two different models (F22 vs B52). That is what I call customer service!!! Conclusion: This is a preliminary review, which I will continue once I have completed my boat shopping experience, but Mike Cardoni and California Skier's dedication to do what was needed to make a sale, makes them # 1 on my list of Boat Sellers in Southern California. read more

At the end of last summer (2020) we started our search for a wakeboard boat. We were planning on buying used and around Christmas we were having a hard time finding anything that was not outrageously priced. Knowing we couldn't afford a new $130k boat I was hesitant to go to a dealer. On a whim we went down to California Skier to check out the MB boats. They had one of each model and our family absolutely fell in love with the B52 Alpha. Mike Cardoni was super helpful answering all the questions we had and gave us a great price on the floor model that we loved, we couldn't pass it up and I'm so glad we didn't. We took ownership of the boat after just a week and had the best summer our family has had in a long time. From the boat sale, to the help with wakesurf boards, new wakeboards, ropes, and everything else the team at California Skier has gone above and beyond to make us feel like part of the family. I had a warranty issue with both my boat and a Ronix surfboard and California Skier had both of them fixed and handled before a schedule trip we had. The staff and Mike and Mike went above and beyond to move Mountains to get the boat I wanted built on time the way I wanted it. I bought a new custom ordered MB from these guys. I really only dealt with Ben and he deserves the credit in this 5 star review. I feel like he went above and beyond to make the sale happen and I never got the typical "pushy salesmen" vibe from him. Even before he knew we were serious buyers, he made plenty of time for us and I didn't feel rushed when we did the water demo. Communication was great and he was quick to respond to my messages and emails. When researching buying a new wake boat, a lot of people emphasized how important the dealer was. Having confidence in your dealer that they will be taking care of you down the line was huge. California Skier has been a great overall experience through the buying process. I just bought the boat so I can't comment on maintenance or warranty related issues, although dealing with Ben on at Cal Skier has given me confidence. This review is long overdue... I have a 1989 American Skier Advance tournament ski boat that I have owned since new. After roughly 1,000 hours and tons of fun, the motor seized for unknown reasons. I'd like to say it was due to neglect but having babied this thing for nearly thirty years I can say that wasn't the case. While many boat shops weren't interested in working on such an old boat that obviously needed a new motor, I kinda took a flyer on California Skier as they responded back quite quickly to my call. Talk about dumb luck... I met Jim in the service department and his first comment upon seeing my boat was along the lines of how well loved my boat has been! It was obvious it needed a new engine and Jim gave me the options along with his recommendations, which I appreciated from someone well versed in the business. I opted for a crate motor, a rebuilt Ford, and Jim kept me apprised throughout the process. He was conscientious of my budget and gave suggestions and his valued opinions. When I went out to Elsinore to pick it up, I had numerous mechanics and technicians come out to say hello, remark on my boat, which looked like a small dingy in comparison to the MUCH larger wakeboard boats. To me that demonstrated a genuine concern and care for my baby from more than just the service manager. Since the repair, which was June and July from this past summer, I have noticed small little details which they did, for no charge and with no fanfare...hitting the trailer lights connection with lube, checking the tandem axle trailer hubs, things like that. When they water tested my boat, they noticed some small leaks and repaired them...small things like that did not go unnoticed. After use this summer and fall I'd like to report my boat performed like when it was brand new! Exceptional customer service should be rewarded and I wanted to, perhaps out of the norm, tip the staff for such excellent service. They wouldn't accept it! The least I could do is write them an excellent review...tardy, but here it is. I highly recommend California Skier. If in the market for a new one, which I'm not, I would purchase one from them based on their service department alone. Thanks for the great work! read more

Called this dealership about a boat they had listed on Craigslist and their website to arrange a showing and ask questions. I live several hours away so I couldn't just stop by. I called and left messages three different times over ten days for Ben and NO response. On day 11 I called again Ben was still not available? And I was told someone had already filed a credit app to buy the boat and that's why I never heard back? So you've had a credit app out for 10 days??? but then she added if the other buyers don't get approved they will call me ?? Why didn't you call me after call 1 or 2 . Ok so I've bought many cars and a boat I have never heard of a credit app taking 10 days to approve or deny ? Lol I've bought a house and had a credit app done faster! Regardless I never got a call back until I pointed all of this out to the woman I talked to today And magically I finally got the call back.... The worst dealership I have ever found. You think I would have learned my lesson after purchasing multiple, brand new, Mastercraft boats. If the boat is in Havasu, ask them what you will need to do in order to get service anywhere near the area. Before you buy, ask them to see the customer complaints they have received. Ask them how many new boats they exchanged (yes, exchanged) because of problems that could not be resolved. You might want to ask the Mastercraft Factory what kind of complaints they have received about this dealership. This is unfortunate because the boats are really, really nice, but it is not worth the hassle of dealing with this dealership when you have a problem. Do your due diligence before you find yourself in bad situation. read more

These guys were great right after we bought our boat from them and spent a lot of money. But once we started doing maintenance like oil changes on her own and not paying their overpriced service department they completely did a 180 and stopped returning our calls. Stored the boat there a few Summers and they were supposed to clean it but brought it up to the lake completely filthy. I called them for 2 months with no returned calls. Ordered parts from them that never arrived. California skier has a monopoly in Southern California and they know it. They only care about how much money you are going to spend there and if you do not have deep pockets to give them dont expect to receive any sort of courtesy. read more
