PNW Locksmith was recommended to me by a friend. I needed some work done to repair old/deteriorating lock and knob hardware on a couple doors of my home. After contacting a few locksmiths in the area, I decided to go with the PNW team based on their pricing and their outstanding communication. Big shout-out to Mandi for helping with all my questions and making everything super transparent over emails and texts - she's fantastic! I agreed to a quote for the project on Friday and the PNW team was able to schedule the work to be performed the following Monday by Joshua (the locksmith tech). On the morning of the job, Joshua texted and called me to confirm all the details of the quote. He also gave me lots of helpful details on the types of hardware we could use for the job and what might be best for my home and specific situation. I decided to upgrade one of the pieces in the original quote, and he revised the quote estimate to make sure there'd be no surprises charges when it came to final payment. Once again, the communication here was outstanding. When he arrived at the house, Joshua exemplified professionalism, friendliness, competence, and transparency from start to finish. He showed up on time, got to work right away, finished the job in a very reasonable amount of time, and then confirmed I was satisfied with his work before he left. The whole experience greatly exceeded my expectations. It honestly felt like working with a friend. I'd highly recommend the PNW team for any locksmith-related jobs. They no longer have the Mr Rekey franchise, now using their local name Pacific Northwest Locksmith. I had recently lost my apartment keys with my address possibly compromised. So I was looking to have my apartment rekeyed ASAP. Our building manager recommended Mr Rekey so I called the number listed on the Mr Rekey website. I was told that they are no longer serving the Seattle area, and they referred me to their former franchisee - Pacific Northwest Locksmith PNW Locksmith did not have any availability until later in the week and they gave me the dreaded 4 hour service window (1PM-5PM). While I was hoping for something sooner, I figured why not since I was already taking the proposed date off from work. It was my son's 1st birthday, but I figured it couldn't take up the whole time right?! Well, lesson learned on my part to not have anything else going on during the day when you have a 4 hour service window. I know it's a (crappy) industry standard, so I don't necessarily blame them for that. What frustrated me more was the customer service, or lack of, when the service window rolled around. I tried calling about an hour before just to see if there was any idea where I might be in the queue, but no response from the main office. So I figured it best to rush home and catch the front end of the service window just in case. Of course it can be a lil bit of mental torture to wait around during service windows and I start to wonder if they'd forgotten (I had no confirmation email or call), I call again a lil after the 2 hour window...still no answer. Finally I get a call back from their main office around hour 3. I politely inquire about where we stand in the queue. I get the expected answer that they don't know exactly, but can contact the tech asking for ETA. I never heard back from them, and instead get a call from the tech at about 20 til 5 asking if I'm still available at 5PM (aka the end of the service window). Of course I said yes. The tech arrived just a couple minutes after 5PM (aka after the service window). No courtesy such as acknowledgement that it was after the service window, not thanking the customer for patience. I inquired, not expecting anything, if there was any chance the service could be discounted since it was outside the service window. He SCOFFED at my request, saying he was only a few minutes past time (ignoring the fact that I had already waited the full 4 hours). Also, he made it sound like he was doing me a favor by waiving the parking cost (which is only 1.50/hour by my building) and giving me a choice to decline services altogether since additional work was needed to rekey the locks in my building (more on that in a minute). I didn't have much of a choice by then, I had already waited all day and couldn't afford to take another day off work. I accepted but again the tech didn't remotely acknowledge that he was late and I wasn't happy about the situation. Re: additional charge, it would have been nice to know about that ahead of time. According to the tech, he's worked on our building before and that it was common for each unit. The extra cost was reasonable, but again it was sprung on me after I waited beyond the 4 hour service window. Summary: The only thing stopping me from giving 1 star is that the quality of the work was good. Tech set it up so that any future rekey jobs won't require the additional work/charge. Otherwise, they can really improve their customer service, communication, availability, timeliness, and courtesy/respect for your time (even a simple apology or acknowledgement for waiting beyond the 4 hour service window would have gone a long way in removing the sour taste I got from this transaction). Sadly I can't recommend these guys because of that. read more

The Mr. Rekey technician, Gordon, called ahead let us know what his status in traffic was. On arrival very informative, addressed all our concerns especially relating to an older style door lock. We had the rekey special service with one additional keyhole. Would highly recommend them and would be happy to use them again if needed. I really like the service I have received in the field, used them about 6 times in the past couple of months. What I don't care for is the inability to contact anyone local. It seems like there is a woman who owns the local franchise, but I can not find a way to reach her directly, and sitting on hold with the number everyone uses can be anywhere from 10-15 minutes and if you press #3 for your account (which i would assume is a way to pay your bill or update your billing) that just rings forever and nobody picks up. BTW you don't pay on the spot which is awesome if you are not going to be present while they do the work. They randomly send my bills to different people in the company, so sometimes I get them and sometimes I don't. So far I have received a lot of FREE service. read more

I just wanted to let Mr. Rekey know how much I appreciate all they have done to make sure that we were happy after our lock installation. We had Mr. Rekey come out initially to install new door hardware on our front door and Ken told us that all installs are guaranteed by their business. Sure enough, a week later the Schlage latch was popping out which would make it difficult to open the door. I called Mr. Rekey back and they had Dave out the following day which was a Saturday. Dave relized that it was a defective latch and replaced it for FREE which would have been $100 + if he had charged us. Literally, later that day, the door nob latch broke making our front door completely unusable, turning the knob would not open the door (we had to go through our garage to get in/out of the house). Called Dave back up and he said he would be back to take care of us and make it right. Dave was able to come back on that following Monday. I had since bought new front door hardware (both Baldwin and Schlage locks) and, on his return, asked him which one would be better. He told me the Baldwin lockset. He installed that lockset for FREE (he told me that he has seen both problems before but NEVER on one lockset). He then asked me if I wanted the garage door lock to match the front door key, I said sure but asked if there would be a charge for that. He said no, he would take care of it for us to make sure we were happy. Now, instead of two keys to get in our house we just have one, and we have an awesome lockset on our front door THAT WORKS! I can't recommend Mr. Rekey enough in terms of making sure that we were satisfied with our lock installation and the pure fact they stood by their guarantee of all their work (To clarify, it wasn't Mr. Rekey's fault the lock wasn't working, it was a faulty Schlage lockset). I wanted to make a point of letting others know what a great experience I had with this locksmith and especially with Dave who completely stood by his word and MADE IT RIGHT. read more

Mr. Rekey did a great job. I bought a new house and there was a variety of locks and some I did not have a key for. Others did not work at all. I needed a few keys to work the locks that did work. They helped me figure out the whole situation so I could use just one for all my locks and they replaced the one that did not work. They were quick, courteous, and on time. Top notch service! Mr. Rekey provided re-key service on the our home after the tenants moved out and we moved back in. One doorknob lock did not work quite right so Dave B.came back the next day and advised the door knob was faulty. Dave removed the old doorknob assembly and installed a new doorknob and lock assembly free of charge. No question I will use Mr. Rekey and ask for Dave if we need locksmith services again. read more
