So..... You've invested in a PV system- you wonder if an annual cleaning and inspection is warranted. I would say it's definitely worth exploring. We have been using Pacific Panel Cleaners for over five years now and they have made sure our PV system is running as well as can be expected for it's age. The annual maintenance check includes washing and cleaning the PV system as well as independent solar water heating systems. What's great is they generate a multi page report that they mail to you which includes photos and descriptions of issues that were found and recommendations. This last inspection that was done recently, included a problem with the gateway unit which allows us and PPC to see how well the PV system is operating. It helps to pin point when components may have failed. In our case PPP was able to determine the gateway unit may have failed and they worked directly with the manufacturer and determined the unit was still under warranty. They arranged for the delivery and installed it later. After installation everything has been working fine. We have always have good service from Pacific Panel Cleaners. The team that came to our house was great, and was able install and test the new unit effectively and efficiently. When we purchased our PV system, we were told that there is loss of productivity as time goes on. 9 years ago our first bill after installation was about $18.00 a month. As the years progressed the bills got higher. This year or bill less over $100.00 per month. still cheaper than pre solar. We attended the Building Industry show and requested a quote to add on to the system., all weird wanted to add panels and a battery. the quotes were almost the cost of the original system we had installed. I decided to hold off on installation and give cleaning a try. What did I have to lose? $250 to clean and $14,000 to add on to the system. First. they examine the system before work begins to check four bird nests. loose wires and trouble in general, they take pictures before work begins and later after work is complete. The process took about 2 hours for our 16 panels. We got a report emailed to us after 6 weeks with pictures of our system, and explained that our panels were dirty and then cleaned. Long story short. our bill is now $26.00 for the last few months. I wished I had cleaned the system sooner. I signed a five year maintenance plan to have the cleaning done every year now. It's totally worth it and Pacific Panel Cleaners is very professional with the work. Pacific Panel Cleaners are the best! They are on time, very knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. We have a serious problem with Pigeons. They put the bird cages on our panels. We started with an annual cleaning contract but we now have them cleaning quarterly to keep up with our crazy bird (poop) issue. They provide a full report with before and after photos of your system. This is very helpful. We've had issues with a bunch of inverters going bad, our solar company was not helpful, and even said it might be because we have dirty panels. PPC came out and provided pictures for us to show how clean our panels are. Everyone at PPC has been a pleasure to work with. They have fantastic customer service. A regular electrician referred me to PPC and they are just what I needed. I had some panels out and an Envoy not reporting. (almost $1500 for a new Envoy). Patrick came out and told us we needed a TP link. (Around $50). The panels needed new micro inverters and they dealt with Enphase, who honored their warranty. PPC installed the new inverters and I signed up for their cleaning and service agreement and am very happy about the whole deal. Money very well spent, especially as I was dead in the water as far as finding someone to service my PV system. There's a reason this company has a 5star rating and glad I hired them to troubleshoot and repair my PV system. I have a Solar Edge system that was installed and contracted with a company called Sunetric about 10yrs ago. I have had issues with this company from the start and they were not the lowest bidder before awarding them my contract to install 38 panels. Glad to report they went out of business!!!! I'm starting this review because I know I wasn't the only victim and wanted to let others know who bought from this terrible company that it was a blessing in disguise. My system went down and had to find another company that was familiar with my system and would be willing to resolve the problem. There was so many PV companies to choose from and didn't know who to call. A friend recommended Pacific Panel Cleaners. It sounded like they only clean solar panels based on the name of the company, but I called anyway since they were referred. A gal named Leslie answered the phone and was extremely professional and courteous...what a start!!! She did say they've recently gotten other Sunetric customers who was having problems as well. I had to sign an authorization form allowing them to be my PV contractor with Solar Edge(SE) the manufacturer of my system. Leslie advised how long it normally took SE 2wks to reply. She kept me updated and even included me in the email to SE. So professional and efficient!! We got the approval within 2wks. She called me to schedule the tech to troubleshoot my system and explained their quote for trouble shooting and repair. Brian arrived on-time wore a mask when he introduced himself and started the troubleshoot. I needed to replace 1 of 2 inverters. He called SE and got their approval to replace and did advised it should still be under my warranty. The unit arrived in 2wks and Leslie scheduled the replacement. They quoted the approximate labor cost to remove/install new inverter since they were not my original installer. They sent Dan a more experienced tech with my system to insure the installation was done efficiently. Dan was great! We found out that the new inverter sent by SE was defective!!!! He got SE to acknowledge after communicating with them and had them ship another which arrived in about 1.5weeks, Dan called me to schedule!!! The tech called and didn't need to rely on the "office" to schedule! He came on-time and had Brian (the original tech) with him for training on this SE system! Smart business , training other employees to improve their knowledge and growth as a company!!! The installation was a success!! In speaking to Leslie, she assured me that after speaking with the Fred, owner of this wonderful company, they will not be charging me the labor to install the defective inverter SE sent!!! Do you own a photovoltaic system on your house? If you do, you should consider getting your panels cleaned and inspected each year. We've had our system for almost 5 years and never had it cleaned!! Shame on me! I heard about this company years ago but just never got around to setting up an appointment until recently. If you have PV, I recommend Pacific Panel Cleaners for your panel cleaning needs. WHY? Over time, the panels get covered with dirt, bird poop, pollen, water marks and maybe even salt if you live near the ocean. The panels aren't able to absorb as much of the suns rays if they are covered with a layer of dirt or salt etc. This results in lower productivity and higher HECO bills. We don't want that. The cost of the cleaning and inspection are based on several things including number of panels, type of roof you have, and how many floors you have. It also depends on if you do a one time cleaning vs a 5 year (once a year cleaning) contract. I would just call them for a quote if you are even thinking of doing this because they can give it to you over the phone. The cleaning is followed with an inspection. They look under the panels, look at the wiring, inspect the junction box, and check out the inverters. They will make recommendations based on what they see and they even retrieved my sons baseball which was wedged underneath all those panels. I had tried to knock it out with the hose but was unsuccessful. If you're still not convinced, look at it this way. You spend $20,000-$50,000 (or more) on your car. You probably wash your car a few times a year. Same thing except when you spend $20,000-$50,000 on a PV system and get it cleaned, you can actually save money on your electric bill. I contacted the company to do some repair on my PV solar system. I have a system where there are 4 zones. One zone has not been working due to one of the panels coming loose during a windstorm. My home has two types of roofing, monier and metal. The zone that is not working is located on the metal section. The company refused to inspect my system because they do not want the liability of working on monier tile. I am not an electrician, but I would be willing to bet that the problem is isolated to the zone on the metal roof. Asked if they could just come and take a look at the situation but they refused. I guess they just want the easy, high profit jobs requiring no thinking. They should advertise as such.... read more

PPC did a great job cleaning my panels and checking out my two solar systems. Upon completion one system power increased by 25% and the other almost 35% as seen on my Envoy Monitoring System. They also initiated an RMA on a defective Micro-Inverter that they found out of service. This is handy as they monitor and work with the Manufacturer to quickly return your system to its highest efficiency. The Cleaning Technicians did a great job removing the mold, volcanic ash and road dirt from the panels and the racking system. They took pics of the panels and all the connections, spoke to Enphase, and together they determined that our lowered production was not the result of shading, unlike what our previous installer told us. It's been about 5 years now that we have had Pacific Panel Cleaners come and clean our 36 PV panels and our solar water heater panels. Every time I read the report, I am impressed with their professionalism and great work. The report details what they saw, and what they cleaned with before and after photos. Contacted Pacific Panel Cleaners in January and spoke to Leslie, who provided me with excellent customer service.
