Kaya started with some anxiety around other dogs and had a tendency to pull on the leash, but the transformation since joining Pacific Paw has been incredible. Thanks to their skilled and patient staff, Kaya's walking behavior has improved dramatically. She's now much more comfortable around other dogs, and it's been heartwarming to see her build friendships and enjoy her time out on the trails. She especially looks forward to her 2-hour walks and daycare time with her doggy pals! Every staff member at Pacific Paw is not only friendly and communicative but also impressively knowledgeable when it comes to dog behavior. My dog has been a part of the Pacific Paw pack for 3-4 years now and she loves it. Deb and Michelle and the rest of the team are the best. They make sure that the dogs are safe and secure on their walks and at daycare. They also meet the dog owners and dogs prior to ensure that they will get along with the rest of the pack. If you opt in to daycare or overnight services, you can trust that they have your dogs best interest in mind. From playing with your dog to teaching them new tricks, the team will make sure your pup has a fantastic time. They also make sure that pick up/drop off is as seamless as possible. We love Pacific Paw so much! Our dog has been part of the pack for over two years. He was a rescue who was pretty shy and nervous, particularly around other people, and the crew at Pacific Paw have really helped nurture him and get him out of his shell. They also reinforce good behavior, so it's like he's getting training, socialization, and exercise all in one awesome package that he adores. These guys are SO GOOD. My dog Jack is always thrilled to see Michele and her team, and always returns from his pack walks happy and exhausted. The amount of service they provide for "just" a pack walk is amazing. The dog gets an epic walk/hike AND play time with the other dogs, and I get bare minimum an hour and a half break from puppy care, usually much longer. All this for the going local rate of 30 minute dog walks... In addition to how great they are with the dogs, they've made it so easy for busy humans to work with them as well. Their online interface makes scheduling, billing, and communication so simple. AND (I love this part so much) they also use the online interface to send pics from every walk they take my dog on. Pacific Paw is the best. At the time, our 5 months old puppy was very reserved and didn't know how to be around dogs. So we enrolled her in the pack walk once a week and it helped tremendously. Michelle, founder, is just amazing (as is the rest of her team) and she has advanced training skills to be able to reinforce your pup's training or help with special issues. When I moved to Santa Cruz a couple of years ago, a priority for me was to find really knowledgeable, warm, and kind team for my gentle and definitely special rescue, Jackson. He had a rough go at life before I came along and #1 to me is that any team really "gets" him. And PacPaw team exceeded my expectations. I can honestly say that the high quality of care provided to Jackson (via packwalks, full daycare, and boarding) gave me the confidence that, were I to get a second dog, I knew that when with the PacPaw team, my whole crew would be in the best hands. About 2 months after moving to Santa Cruz and being a client, enter Bodie, our newest rescue and new little brother to Jackson. The consistency in quality remained when our canine family grew. Sadly, we had to leave Santa Cruz a few months ago, and I haven't been able to replicate the high level of care where I am now, which is a total bummer! I can share that when we lived in Santa Cruz, I worked from home. Most days, I had the boys participate in the pack walks primarily for socialization purposes (and to give mom a break!) Our pup Rocco has been going to Pacific Paw twice a week for the past few months and spent 10 nights while we were on vacation. Michelle and team are amazing! On hike mornings, Rocco hears Michelle's car coming and immediately starts wagging his tail. He's always happy to see his buds. In addition to hiking, Michelle and team incorporate specific trainings throughout the day -- loose leash walking, stay, sit, and overall good manners. At the end of each day, we receive an update and pictures of the day's adventures and Rocco is often the star of Pacific Paw's Instagram posts. Ziggy loves all of his Pacific Paw adventures from hikes to days at the beach to his overnight stays. We can't say enough about how great it is to trust and work with Michelle and her team. Michelle is one of Ziggy's favorite people and we can't even mention her name on adventure days because he will sit at the window whining and waiting for them to pick him up already. He pretty much bounces off the walls when they arrive and jets out the door, so we know he loves it. He has a smile on his face in all the pictures. He is a very social dog, so being able to send him to Pacific Paw gives him the ability run around and just be a dog with buddies of all shapes and sizes. Yes, Michele IS as good as it gets! Skilled, professional, and loving-all the qualities you want in someone who will care for your animal family while you are away. Michele and her partner Jeff have cared for my two dogs, bird, and occasionally my daughter's guinea pigs many times in the last three years. My two dogs have had to receive various medication over the years (my one dog gets seizure medicine twice a day). She knows how to put in eye, ear, and probably other meds that my dogs haven't needed. We just moved out of Santa Cruz and had to say goodbye to the amazing team at Pacific Paw - definitely one of the hardest parts of moving away. Deb and Michelle and the whole team not only kept our dog safe and secure but also kept her engaged and socialized. Our pup was a bit shy at first because she didn't get much time with other dogs before we adopted her, but the Pac Paw team helped her come out of her shell. They even gave us training tips to help with her barking and defensiveness. They take photos and videos of the dogs during pack walks and day care and send a note at the end of each day - really above and beyond customer service. They also switch up the walk/hike location every day to give the dogs some variety and training in different environments. Our pup was super comfortable staying overnight at Pac Paw houses and we never worried for a minute when we needed to leave her with auntie Deb or auntie Michelle for a weekend. Michelle is wonderful, professional, sweet and very accommodating. We brought our 65lb. Pit mix with us for a short family trip to Santa Cruz. Due to trip complications, we ended up in a dog friendly hotel but still wanted to do some non dog friendly activities. Monday morning I called Michelle and left a message about our situation. Within 30 minutes she called me back and said she could drive over to our hotel and pick up our dog. First impression- amazing. She arrived and I instantly liked her and so did my dog. We chatted a bit and they were off to hike and have fun. Throughout the two days we received pictures and updates. Second impression- amazing. When she dropped my dog off after two days, he whimpered for her when she left. (Yes he was happy to be with his family too!!!). I could tell my dog had a great time. I highly recommend Michelle. When we return to Santa Cruz, I will bring my dog again just so he can see Michelle again - may sound cheesy but my dog is my third child. My others are 3 and 7. Pacific Paw has provided babysitting and overnight care for our dogs for over 3 years. We could recommend them highly enough. Our dogs are not only well taken care of but also engaged and involved while away in activities, play, and cuddles! Pacific Paw is AMAZING. 5 stars is not enough. We have been using Michelle's services for about a month now for our recently adopted, sweet and very energetic puppy Lucy! We've had her do hikes/daycare and last minute overnights. We were hesitant at first since we knew that she'd be a handful as she is going through all the stages of puppyhood. Michelle is absolutely wonderful with our pup, not only providing daily exercise through hikes but ongoing training and socialization as well.
