We had an idea on what we could do and got quotes with that in mind. We got several quotes regarding what we wanted to do (basically lots of concrete) prior to Leo coming, but once he did he suggested a better solution than the one my husband and I proposed! Other companies were professional with great quotes, but I like that Leo thought outside of the box and gave a great solution that actually was cheaper and less work. He was very professional with great communication. Things were delayed due to rain outs on another job of his, and the plan changed as we had another contractor come that was originally scheduled after him. It actually changed the scope of work slightly because, we wanted the drainage to work on tandem with new downspouts and where the spouts were placed wasn't where we thought they'd be! Leo was great and flexible, he even explained why the rain gutters guys suggestion wouldn't work with our property, when the worker suggested something else. He also worked around the changed downspout area, which I should've let them know beforehand, but slipped my mind till an hour in. Thankfully, Leo came up with a great idea again and worked around it. His crew was super fast and the job was done within a day. I'd totally recommend them to anyone.

From the beginning, Leo always showed up when he said he would. First, to check the site and provide an estimate. Then second, to perform the demolition. They worked efficiently and finished the job earlier than expected. When I went in to inspect the demolition, I was pleased to see how neatly they did the job. They were careful not to damage the abutting walls and cleanly disconnected the plumbing. This will make it easier when the remodeling takes place. Overall, for the amount of work they did, manpower used and time it took, the price was right. Leo also gave me some suggestions on repairs around the house that were very helpful.

She was great with communicating and was a big reason we ended up going with Menora over other contractors. The project included excavation, building a CMU wall, extending a driveway, and building a patio. I really appreciate your efforts and dedication to finishing my family yard. Suli's team were able to complete this large project all before we had family visit during the holidays. It's truly a blessing to know and work with this small family business, especially Maka and his team, they did such an amazing job! You can tell he takes pride in his work. I look forward to working with him in the near future and can't wait to show his talents to friends and family. Thank you so much!

Time: How long does it take to find and interview a…read moredependable masonry contractor? After a two-week search, I selected Menora Masonry from four bids for my December 2024 retaining wall and drainage project. Suli, the owner, ran the mini excavator and ensured efficient teamwork during excavator operations Sione was pure strength. He did a lot of the excavating and put up new posts and gates. A lot was accomplished because he had a good work ethic and was trustworthy in every way. Younger Sione, Suli's nephew, executed precise bricklaying while others managed cement mixing. He rebuilt the failing wall sections and also a leaning column with great precision. Task on December 11, 2024: To replace the weak sections of my retaining wall that held the terraced front area of my property. Then run 80 feet of perforated PVC pipe underground along it to relieve the pressure of excess water into an adjoining swale easement. In addition, water in my back garden area, weathered by mauka wind and rain, would pool and seep beneath the slab of my house. Menora jackhammered part of the old walkway and created slope for the water to empty into the same swale easement and away from the foundation. They also built a raised cement barrier along the house. Communication: An area of improvement could have been reviewing our understanding of the planned work in intervals. While communication could improve with mid-project checkpoints (especially during garden water mitigation), post-work cleanup with Suli's son, Suli Jr., revealed excellent attention to detail. The January 2025 storm validated their work - both wall stability and drainage performed flawlessly under heavy wind and rain. I had complete peace of mind for my neighbors below that the wall would hold and not cause damage; and that the garden-side rain would not pool towards the house. I truly appreciate the hard work and effort on the part of Menora Masonry and highly recommend them!

For this project we reached out to five companies and he was the most responsive. He gave us a quote right away and took the time to meet us for a relatively small job. He lied about the progress of the work and asked for payment without completing the work under the agreement within the timeframe promised. Weeks and months have gone by and the work was still incomplete. Basically, this was a breach of contract and he failed to perform the agreed-upon work as outlined in the contract. For months, he was unresponsive despite multiple attempts to communicate to either finish the work or refund the payments made. After 5 months, he finally responded stating that he'll set up a repayment schedule to return the funds due to the breach of contract. Another 4 months have gone by and he has yet to repay any of the advance payments made. During those 4 months, multiple demands were made for the refund of payments made. He has been unresponsive. To date, 9 months later, he has failed to return the payments made. No effort at all to even set up a repayment schedule. His conduct has been unprofessional, unreliable, and has caused significant financial and personal inconvenience. I trusted him and paid him in advance when he asked for more money stating that he needed more funds to cover the rental equipment and pay his people. Never again with Maka. I plan to file a formal complaint with the appropriate licensing board and the BBB.
