Where to begin. Prior to the signing of the loan agreement and completion of the install, they were great. Super helpful, quick to respond to any questions we had, did all of the leg work to deal with our HOA and HECO to get approvals. That all immediately ended once we signed for and had the system turned over. We had exposed wires on the outside of the house, we called them multiple times and when we actually got someone to come out to take a look, they came and covered it.... with cardboard. Hawai'i Unified said HECO was suppose to cover the hole, HECO said installer should have covered it. We've had multiple manufacture issues with the system (understand it's not their fault, they're just the installer) to the point it's been inoperable longer than it's been on line. We called and asked for help and eventually we were handed an option to receive a $500 gift card to not hold them liable for repairs (even thought the system came with a 10yr warranty), or not take it but still not to receive any other help. We've called other installers and found out we over paid by a factor of 2 for a smaller system with significantly less storage (and to be honest, most asked who did the install, and flat out told me they're sorry we had to work with them). We've called the manufacturer multiple times through out the years and they reported to us the company went out of business. When we needed to have the system removed, miraculously we had our calls picked up and then we found out that we had a broken panel not reported at all by another companies that we've had service the system (not saying they broke it, but to leave a broken panel in our garage with no means to do anything with it...sucks). Overall, I'd look elsewhere. We only worked with them due to other installers not wanting to work on townhomes and we wanted to support a local company. But let our misfortune and our gross overpayment direct you to other/better installers. read more

A nightmare company; no response from the current owner for the lack of support and the structural work they have not completed at our business. Management team is useless and we are out of $140,000.00 due to lack of follow thru and support from the construction team. The worst contractor in the SOH. This company does not support those businesses who have hired him to provide construction services, statewide. We will need to seek legal action against the owner and his employees who have been negligent to follow thru with our project. We have called the owner several times; he does not respond and continues to avoid calls from us and the investors ($1.5M) for our solar and parking area at our storefront. Misleading, Unresponsive, and Dishonest This company operates in a shady and untrustworthy manner. If you're considering going solar, do your homework and steer clear of this place--there are far more reputable and transparent companies out there. My salesperson, Tanner Platts, presented financial information that turned out to be misleading at best, outright false at worst. He made everything sound reassuring--just enough to get me to sign the contract. But once I was locked in, the story changed. He told me the first 18 months would be at a reduced rate, which sounded great--except he completely failed to mention that those payments only cover interest. If the full amount isn't paid off by a specific deadline, it gets tacked on to the total loan. That crucial detail? Left out. Also told me loan amount can potentially be reduced under certain circumstances. No one answers the phone. The company has no service department for solar. Messages? Ignored. Callbacks? Nonexistent. Hawaii Unified delivered my dishwasher today with quality service. The two young men Kingston and Kody were polite and installed the unit with their professional knowledge of the product. They took their time to make sure it was installed properly with no leaks. They had to cut a larger hole for the drain line and vacuumed up the dust, so we did not have to. Their service was such a value compared to what I would have paid to hire a separate service person. You can't go wrong with these two persons. Do not do business with this company!! They sell you the moon and it has been a terrible experience. Our project was for solar panels, Project kick off 6/2024. The design phase which normally takes 7 weeks ( started 7/2024) by late Sep I had to follow up if the design was completed and sent to the County for approval. Only then was the design sent. Then their design was rejected and sent back by the Country 3 times! The follow up from the design and permitting team is horrible. We finally got the permit approval in Jan 2025. Install team, other than the electrician (who was very good & professional), I would rate a 4 out of 10. One of them was having a tantrum fit and throwing & dragging our solar panels. Install finally completed Mar 2025 but no final inspection yet, Called County (May 2025) they have not even scheduled the inspection! read more

Where do we start. I purchased a new home in July. Shortly after we realized our central ac has been eating our electrical bill a lot more than our previous split systems. So we reached out to Hawaii unified after we received a few good references. I first contacted them through their website for solar consultation. A week passes by and nobody gets back to me. So I think maybe I didn't fill it out right or maybe something happened so I send another notice through online. Nothing again. Weird. 3rd time we send it in I mention this time that this would be my final attempt and that it's my 3rd time with no reply and I'm quite disappointed already. Red flags already. Finally I get a call. Spoke a little on the phone. Said to text over some pictures of my bill etc so I did. Nobody kept me in the loop no next steps. Just send your old bill and we'll design your system. 1 month goes by and not a word. I had to check in and see. Apparently they're still working on my system. Don't believe me? Check out the screen shots. I wouldn't touch this company if I they paid for my solar. I purchased a Viking built-in refrigerator/freezer unit from Best Buy. Hawaii Unified is their contracted deliverer-installer. Victor came 2 days ahead of delivery day to check the measurements and to figure out the logistics of getting the unit into my home. He forewarned me about the common recent problems with the door alignment of this particular unit (and the resulting condensation and temperature control issued resulting from it) that he had delivered to several homes and let me see some photos to clarify. On the morning of the delivery, he opened the front of the box to check, and texted me a message that the slight door misalignment didn't seem too bad and that if I don't approve of the unit upon seeing it in person, I can still refuse delivery. Once he arrived, he showed me the issue. He gave me time to take photos of it to text to a Viking-authorized warranty repair provider, who felt that the misalignment appears minimal and that it may not pose any problems, and if it did, they can try to adjust the doors or whatever it takes under warranty. The point is, I am very grateful that Victor warned me about this common problem he's been seeing so that I can be aware of it. I will log any and all problems if they should arise and will be prepared if any problems should arise. On delivery day, Victor, Jonathan, Andrew, Chavez, and Kingston were very friendly and professional. They had to carefully haul the 700-lb. appliance up a long and steep driveway and through a narrow hallway to get it to its spot. They expertly connected the fridge to the water supply, anchored it securely, and cleaned it so it's shiny and beautiful. Victor showed me how to operate the control panel and also what to keep my eyes on, in case I'm having one of the common problems of this Viking appliance. (They were also very nice to my dog, which means a lot to me.) read more

We recently had a refrigerator installed -- Victor and his crew, Andrebb and Bradley from Hawaii Unified made the job a fast and professional one. They adjusted schedules to accommodate this installation, even going back for an inspection after I had missed a call from them due to a mistake on the invoice from the original vendor. I am a property manager who has worked with a lot of companies in Honolulu, and Hawaii Unified is by far, one of the best companies I have had the pleasure to work with. The feature that distinguishes Hawaii Unified is communication. Victor, their field supervisor, was in touch with me every step of the way. When we ran into problems with the placement of the electrical socket for the refrigerator Victor helped to problem solve and not only made a trip to the hardware store to get an extension cord so the tenant could have refrigeration sooner than later, but also had the crew and the technical expertise to move the electric socket and patch the dry wall behind the refrige. Victor treated the job as if the unit was his, or as if we were his family. He and the people at Hawaii Unified really took care of us, and coordinated well between us, the tenant and the vendor. There were so many moving parts in this installation, and Victor was a major reason why everything ended up working and coming together. Thank you Victor, and Hawaii Unified, for putting the unit and the tenant first. Great care was given to communicating with the tenant and making them feel heard, as well as to making sure that the wood floors and the structural integrity of the unit itself remained unblemished. Victor even sent pictures of the different parts of the installation to aid in communicating what the next steps were, and what our options were. She was very polished and warm and most importantly arranged things so our business together was fast, convenient and accurate.
