Brought my two boys for spring swim camp--such a great experience. They had a blast and we'll be back for sure!

Update: Stay Away from this place! The owner's behavior feels like bullying. Pacific Swim was closed from December 24th to January 3rd, and I requested to cancel my son's membership on January 8th for the below reasons. I asked for a reasonable extension for couple hours of the 7-day cancellation period due to their closure, but the owner refused and demanded payment for the entire registration year, plus January and February. I even offered to pay for January as a compromise, but this was rejected. Very disappointing and unreasonable experience. I would not recommend Pacific Swim Team based on our experience. The quality of training and the instructors are very poor. During lessons, there are often 15-20 kids in a single session, which makes it impossible for children to receive proper instruction or attention. The trainers do not get in the water with the kids to demonstrate techniques; instead, they remain standing outside the pool, which is especially ineffective for younger or beginner swimmers. The pool water is very cold during the winter, making it uncomfortable for children. There are no bathroom or changing facilities, and kids are expected to change in tents set up next to the pool, which is not appropriate or practical, especially in colder weather. Another major concern is staffing. We received emails asking if we knew anyone who could train kids for swimming, even without prior experience. It is alarming that individuals with no swimming or teaching experience could be considered for instructing children in a water-based activity where safety and proper technique are critical. Between the overcrowded classes, lack of hands-on instruction, inadequate facilities, and questionable staffing practices, this program does not meet reasonable expectations for children's swim training.

Pacific Swim is one of the top rated programs in San Diego teaching kids of all ages. They have beginner lessons for non swimmers or beginners to nationally ranked swimmers.

We cannot recommend Coach Dave from Shark Swim Lessons enough!…read more When my son first started, he had very little swimming experience. In just 8 sessions, Coach Dave helped him learn the foundations of swimming with so much patience, encouragement, and professionalism. We continued lessons with him, and 6 months later Archer is now like a little fish in the water What really stands out is Coach Dave's dedication and ability to connect with kids. He makes lessons fun while still building strong technique, confidence, and water safety skills. You can genuinely tell he cares about every child's progress.

I could do fine in water - could easily swim, as in not die when thrown in deep water. But I wanted to learn to swim laps/distance for triathlons and exercise and just could not figure it out. And I just could not find the right swim instructor or class for this. There's brand-new-to-water classes that teach you not to die in the water. And then there are classes that teach you to improve your technique in certain strokes. I was stuck in the middle - just could not figure out how to do the freestyle breathing right to even start swimming laps. I tried a couple different instructors, both of whom were probably good college swimmers, and they just had no real insight or experience with struggling to breathe. Enter Dave. In one session, he'd taught me 3x as much as multiple sessions with previous instructors and solo practice had taken me. By session 2, was up to being able to at least swim some short back-and-forths. Things got easier each session, and I left the initial package of lessons I bought feeling comfortable in the pool. Have since made a lot of progress, including some long open-water swims in the ocean. All thanks to Dave's great instruction.

I felt like I was being monitored the entire visit by overly controlling lifeguards. The office employee at the front was very nice, but once you get inside, the atmosphere becomes uncomfortable. At one point I was barked at to move because some kids needed to take a swim test. Later, my granddaughter was swimming, so I got in the pool with her because she had to wear a red wristband due to her age--even though she swims perfectly well. I was standing on the pool steps in the water, but the lifeguard insisted I had to be fully "in the pool water." I don't understand why it matters whether I'm standing or sitting on the step, especially since I had been sitting there earlier with no issue. I used to bring my own children to this pool years ago, and people seemed much happier then. You were expected to swim back and forth, not take a formal swim test like you're training for the Olympics. Please do better, Poway. I pay taxes for this pool, and it feels like the people who get the most benefit from it are the lap swimmers and swim classes.

We came to British Swim in hopes to grow my daughter's skills and technique. She was first apart of the Shark class then once they launched Barracuda in March 2024, Zoe and Jamal highly recommended her to join. It gave her the opportunity to push herself and grow her confidence in the sport she loved. Zoe has been her main instructor throughout this time and she has always been so kind, encouraging and such a great teacher for her. Being apart of this non-competitive swim team, Barracuda has really allowed growth in her technique, endurance and confidence. If you want your kids to one day be apart of competitive swim, we HIGHLY recommend British Swim School. They will make sure your child is ready to crush swim team try outs and set them up for success! We are grateful for all the swim teachers that have been apart of her journey! (Tesla at UTC!) Also, thank you to Jamal who is always great at communicating and being flexible with make ups! You all truly show how much you value family! I also appreciate the British Swim app, it made payments and submitting absences and scheduling make ups so convenient. Thank you!

Our experience with this organization has been among the worst we have had with any business in…read moremore than ten years. The fundamental problem is that homeowners are required to pay dues whether or not they are permitted to use the facilities. Although the young reception staff have generally been friendly, our interactions with the administrative office have often felt dismissive, inflexible, and unnecessarily rude. Even the entrance, with its locked metal gates and restrictive atmosphere, feels unwelcoming for what is supposed to be a neighborhood recreational facility. For more than a year, I have tried to resolve a dispute involving outstanding dues for invoices and notices I did not receive. Because we were not using the facility, I had no reason to know that charges were continuing to accumulate. Once I became aware of the issue, I proposed a reasonable solution: allow me to begin paying the current dues while we worked out a fair arrangement for the disputed past balance. Instead of treating this as a genuine effort to resolve the matter, the office responded with a rigid, collection-focused attitude and refused to consider a practical compromise. We were expected to pay everything immediately while still being denied access to the facilities. A community association should make a reasonable effort to communicate with homeowners, provide clear and timely notices, and work constructively with residents who are actively trying to resolve a dispute. It should not use mandatory dues and denial of access as leverage while refusing to discuss a fair payment arrangement. We were not asking to avoid our responsibilities. We were asking for transparency, basic courtesy, and a reasonable path toward resolution. Unfortunately, our experience has reflected none of those things.

I was super excited when I found out there were only 3 women in the group. I wasn't excited anymore after 2nd session. During the first session I learned that one of women in the group already knew how to swim and she was there to learn how to lap swim. So basically she already knew how to do free style and could swim from one end to the other end of pool without any problem. She just wanted to polish and refine her techniques. She should have taken an intermediate swim lesson, not a basic lesson. Oh, and a private lesson, not a group lesson. I started feeling uneasy when I noticed the coach spent way more time with that woman than rest of us. The coach spent about 15 mins with her and maybe 5 mins with rest of us each time. It was obvious that woman acting like this was her own private lesson, kept on asking the coach tons of questions, interrupting that short 5 min session that the coach was having with another student by asking her to check her own techniques. I know there is always a person who would think she/he is entitled to do so. Then it should be the coach who needs to split the time equally for each student because this is a group lesson, not a private lesson, but the coach failed to do that. So if you are interested in taking a group lesson, look elsewhere.
