Sadly that is true. 3) I had a problem & thought I needed immediate care & left a message. They took many days to return my call. I think that they thought it best if I wait a few days. I brought my son who has MS into his first appointment. His appointment time was 8am we arrived at 8:06. After being there and checking in all the sudden the receptionist tells us that Dr Lee says he won't be able to see us. Came all the way here from Antioch in traffic and this appointment took months to get. I say this Doctor doesn't care. And, we will not be returning. John Muir sucks and so does this office especially the Doctor. Good thing we didn't end up seeing the Doctor cause I don't think he is a caring Doctor . 6 minutes. I don't know about this office. A name change to John Muir Urology has not changed very poor communication and response. A health care practice should not be ignoring vmail and John Muir online messages submitted direct to the Specialist. Very disappointed to learn that after the Dr told me it would take 2-3 weeks to book a recommended surgery that the surgery coordinator sat on the request for 2 months and both she and the Dr. couldn't be bothered w responding to my messages. read more

This place is absolutely terrible. Avoid at all costs. They will not return phone calls and waste your time for weeks, they don't answer the phone, they don't respond to voicemails and if you finally speak to someone they will just take information down and never call you back. read more

Every doctor I worked with was very nice and knowledgeable but their communication portal and phone support with their patients is substandard. The office and hospital staff were also very nice and professional. This is a perfect example of good people making mistakes because of the lack of communication. They did my 8th surgery less than a month ago. It was the first time meeting my surgeon Dr Long but he did a great job and my recovery time was far easier this time. I did however find it very difficult to reach Dr. Le by phone and they recommend using their online portal system. Dr. Le is my primary urologist and we were communicating online but disagreed on the post op treatment plan. His last message he refused my request for an MRI and I assumed from the terse response he was upset at me. 12 days go by without another response to multiple messages through the portal about post op issues. Four of those days involves passing a large kidney stone with no help from my doctor or medication for the pain. Apparently Dr Le went on vacation and their system did not give the patient an automatic message that the doctor is away. The office reads the doctors messages and it's indicated online as read but no one responds to the patients messages while the doctor is on vacation. This leaves the patient to believe the doctor read the message and just chose not to respond. Messages from patients they've just recently operated on should be automatically forwarded to the on-call doctor if my doctor is on vacation. Pacific urology is a team approach and I have found it to be too many cooks in the kitchen. This patient fell through the cracks and suffered needlessly due to lack of communication by phone or their online portal as communication with patients. I do wish them well and I hope this constructive criticism helps fix their system. read more

If I could give a 0 STAR, I would. I believe Dr. Lieb is a good doctor, unfortunately his staff is AWFUL!!! My husband had abnormal test result and needs to be seen/referred to a Vascular Surgeon. We are only aware of this because we had to reach out to Lieb's office multiple times. Not a single member of his staff reached out to let us know what was going on ( now a month later ) his supposed "medical assistant" laughed and told my husband he needs to be seen by a vascular surgeon and never sent a referral, a copy of images OR REACHED OUT TO THE PATIENT!!!! Don't you think it would have been top priority to get a patient with an unusual scan over to see the correct specialist? Or at LEAST communicate this very important information to the patient?!! And then instead of communicating like a professional, she laughs and has the audacity to place blame on us for their office dropping the ball?! I can see we are CLEARLY not the only patients who seem to think that these "medical assistants" or office staff members deliver SUBPAR quality. Shame on whoever hired these embarrassments! Too bad they represent a man who went through many years of medical school and training.. hiring such low class staff only brings Dr.Lieb's impressions and reputation down down down. Never again!! Do yourself a favor and find a doctor who cares about QUALITY OF CARE and who hires staff with the same standards. read more

If I could post ZERO STARS, I would. In January, my husband spent 5 days at JM w/sepsis due to a UTI due to prostatitis. He was "assigned" Dr. Le. The care he received from Dr. Le and his staff post hospitalization was beyond unprofessional, shocking, and disappointing. Dr. Le saw him once to remove the catheter, then scheduled him to come back in a month. MH developed two more UTIs in 6 weeks. With his second one, Dr. Le's response was to order a urine culture and prescribe more antibiotics rather get to the bottom of the infection, or at the very least COMMUNICATE w/your patient. With his 3rd UTI, no one returned ANY of MH's phone calls. His office simply told MH that he was out of the office and the on-call dr. would contact him, WHICH THEY NEVER DID. MH's primary care was also outraged and immediately referred him to Dr. Andrew Smith who is a huge improvement in every way. He spent a lot of time speaking w/MH and going over his health history in great detail. PLEASE do yourself a favor and avoid Pacific Urology. What a shoddy practice. read more

This office is run so poorly that I cannot describe how frustrating it is to deal with them. I have called at least a dozen times and been left on hold. Finally get through and schedule an appointment with Dr. Hopkins. Filling out the new patient forms on line but they don't save so you lose all of your data. Call and they say that doesn't work. They have no email to send completed/scanned forms. A week before my appointment they call 4 times to remind me to send the paperwork that they have had for month. On the way driving to the appointment they call and cancel and say it has to be rescheduled however they are only rescheduling for one specific date.which is when I'm out of town. never saw the doctor but if he is anything like his staff then it's likely you will be in worse shape than before you saw him Avoid at all cost..there are many much better urology offices out there. read more

Doctor My-Linh Nguyen treated me with respect, patiently address all of my questions and concerns and never once rushed me. Wish I could say something good, but that was not my experience. The Urologist (Dr. B.) sat through both appointments and dictated into his laptop microphone the whole time. He would ask me a question with the microphone in front of his face, and then say my response to his questions into the microphone. He rarely made eye contact and was done in 5 minutes. Talk about not feeling like a human. Then when it came time to get lab results they would not give them or mail them to me. Kaiser lets you look at them online for free. Instead I had to make a co-payment to go in and get my normal results. Again, felt like it was more about the money than the patient. read more

He gave no instructions on how to prepare for a procedure (I thankfully thought to Google it), and absolutely no after care instructions. When I had complications that I saw listed as serious, I tried to call the office and was told they'd call me back. Which they didn't, until I called again and got the on call doctor. Dr. Long is an AMAZING DOCTOR! He is extremely patient and knowledgeable. I might have learned a year worth of urology study in my 20 mins with Dr. Long. He answered all my questions, and concerns without judgement and explained everything with so much detail. After seeing 5 different Urologist around the Bay Area for some pain I had down there no one could tell me what was wrong. All the previous doctors seemed to be in a rush, and all wanted to believe the pain down there was all in my head. Wow. After 10 mins with Dr. Long he identified the problem, and gave me options to treat it. He also answered, and explained a few other of my concerns in detail. If anyone needs a GREAT Urologist go see Dr. Long. What ever age scale your in, Dr. Long is the man! I'm extremely surprised by the reviews down here, don't be alarm. I have nothing but the highest praise for Pacific Urology, and especially my urologist, Dr. Brian Hopkins. Diagnosed in 2009 with aggressive "out of the box" prostate cancer, Dr. Hopkins' broad knowledge and experience have been invaluable in bringing me to a state of remission. Even though he is a highly qualified surgeon, he evaluated my situation and recommended treatment by radiotherapy--proof to me that he has the patient's ultimate best interest and treatment outcome uppermost in his priorities. Prostate cancer treatment of any kind involves significant side effects, and Pacific Urology and Dr. Hopkins continue to be an invaluable help in ameliorating various post-treatment situations over the past four years. Dr. Hopkins is often late to appointments, but he more than compensates for this by taking as much time as needed with me. This tells me that he treats all his patients as human beings, and giving as much time as the situation requires, which adds up excellent rather than hurried treatment. He never looks like he's trying to bolt for the door, but patiently answers questions and concerns knowledgeably and with humor that add up to an excellent doctor-patient relationship. The staff at Pacific Urology has been unfailingly helpful, as well. read more

I was trying to see my doctor with Pacific Urology in San Ramon. As a patient of the Doctor for about 20 years at a prior location that closed. I made an appointment and drove the 30 minutes to his new office. They presumably have my information from the years I've seen this doctor. I arrived quite early so I just quietly took a seat in the waiting room. With two people working in the little office neither receptionist even checked the waiting area and the place was dead. No phones ringing or anything. I waited almost till the appointment then went to the window looking for life and let them know I had arrived. The receptionist who had worked at the previous office told me, "they could and would not see me because I did not have a new medicare card."which I was not aware existed. Once home I called medicare there was an error on my house number and has since been corrected and that I did not need the new one since they are linked anyway. I gave them one star only because I had to, since I never got in zero would be apt. They are more hung up on process than a mission, more on detail than on clients or sales! After waiting for one month, filling out papers and gathering documents, I arrived on time at 8:45. I was warned to be on time with all documents or I would need to make a new appointment. At 9:30 I was summoned to an examining room where I sat for one hour. There was an empty waiting room when we arrived and the examining rooms appeared empty and the level of activity was extremely..in fact I only saw three women sitting in front of three computers. As a new patient I had my first visit last Friday . The front office and everyone I had contact with were professional, nice and easy to talk to. As soon as I met with Dr Long, I felt at ease and an instant connection. My wife was with me as well. He treated us with respect, talked to us, not down to us, address all of our questions and concerns and never once rushed us. He gave me all of my treatment options and ran through every possible scenario with us. I can't say anything about other doctors at this place but I can certainly tell you about my experience with Dr. Hopkins. I called the center to find out if any doctor would be willing to review my father's test results and suggest options for treatment as my father is overseas. I was willing to pay whatever they wanted for consultation. Dr. Hopkins volunteered to go over the results. Dropped off the results the next day or so. That was more than a month ago. I have called at least more than a dozen times and left voice mails plus messages with the reception. Every time I am assured that someone would call me back and yet no one has. I have even asked to at least retune the results as they included his ultrasound pictures but no response. Completely unprofessional, unethical and simply arrogant people who don't care at all about their patients. This review is for Dr. Hopkins. I don't even know if he ever peeked at my father's results. Yes the waiting to see Dr. Hopkins is frustrating and at times his social skills are lacking. I just had surgery last week and can't say enough about his skill as a surgeon and his genuine care for his patients. I had excellent care at John Muir in Walnut Creek and the nurses all said he really has his patients best interest in mind when he sets up their treatment plan. The negative comments here seem to be from people who never had a procedure done by Dr. Hopkins. I highly recommend him, I didn't go to make a new friend or have someone tell me what I wanted to hear, I went to hopefully find a skilled surgeon who is top in his field and Dr. Brian Hopkins is just that. read more
