There was sunshine over Downtown San Mateo the morning I walked into Wells Fargo, and by the time I…read moreleft, I felt the experience matched the day. A phone customer service error had unexpectedly closed my 13 year old account, so I came into the branch hoping someone could help me sort everything out. On my first visit, I had the pleasure of working with Eric Lima Santana. He was kind, professional, and took ownership of the situation right away. He helped me open a new account and made sure a formal complaint was submitted regarding what had happened. When I returned, I worked with Richard Lee, whose patience and professionalism were truly remarkable. He took the time to explain everything, answered every question, and never made me feel rushed. He turned what could have been a frustrating experience into one that left me feeling valued as a customer. What really stayed with me, though, was the atmosphere throughout the branch. It is clear that this kind of service starts with great leadership, and Branch Manager Louis Deeb has built a team that genuinely cares about the people who walk through the door. About six months ago, my mom came to live with me, and I had been wondering which bank would be the right fit for her. During my visits, I watched how the staff interacted with their senior customers. Every person was treated with patience, kindness, and respect. Those moments spoke louder than anything else. I realized this was exactly the kind of branch I wanted for my mom and for myself. Anyone can provide good customer service when everything goes according to plan. The true measure of a team is how they respond when something goes wrong. Eric, Richard, and Louis turned an unfortunate situation into one that restored my confidence. Thank you for reminding me that exceptional customer service still exists. This branch has earned my trust, and I would gladly recommend it to anyone looking for a banking team that truly puts people first.

And, I am writing specifically about the employee named Aracelli ( I believe she is in a managerial position). She is absolutely amazing in her expertise, her kindness, and her ability to deal with the public. She has always been able to handle any concerns I've had, no matter how small or complicated. All the employees there have been helpful to me, but Aracelli stands out in every aspect. I really feel I can count on her to "walk me through" anything I have questions about.

Having been with BOA for more than 30 years, I've seen this bank lose its sight when it comes to serving its customers. Don't put your money in this bank. The service is terrible, and the people working there are unhelpful. Their internal systems and procedures are old and out of date. Their bankers are only trained in one area of business, and they proudly claim to be specialists. What this really means is that they can't help you with multiple disciplines like the old bankers used to do. If you say the wrong keyword, the reply will be, "Oh, that's not my expertise. You need to make an appointment with another 'specialist' for that." Are you a bank or a hospital? Don't bring your money here; you will regret it. Don't say I didn't warn you. Just read the reviews and feedback. This bank has lost its way. It's just terrible. Oh, by the way, they don't serve walk-in customers. The esteemed "Mr. Dr. Banker" can only see you by appointment. And if you are late by one minute, good luck trying to keep your appointment..

I needed to open an IRA account for tax purposes. Logged in on Zoom and on time on Sat 3/25/24, but stalled in the beginning having waited on my mother to join our call. When that didn't happen and after repeated the follow up instructions with Issa that he'd email me the instructions to set up a Traditional IRA account online later that night, he didn't. Called him on the following Monday, promised me the same thing he'd email me pre-signed templates that day and he didn't until I called back two days later on 4/10 since my mom had deadline to e-file my tax by 4/15. I called him a second time to follow up that he clearly didn't know what he was doing and if he could assign me to someone else. Issa quickly apologized and reasoned that he was having computer issues and ultimately the reason for delay. Bull. I made it clear to him I did not live with my Mother and she didn't have a printer at home so to email the pre-signed templates was ultimately the quickest way to transfer the information and bc my mom was not tech savvy and did not know how to navigate the online banking, email would've been efficient. Instead of wasting everyone's time, all Issa had to do was say he couldn't mail a hard copy or email me premade template(s) in setting up a Traditional IRA account, versus giving me the run around. Issa's title on business card reads Vice President of Investments for Private Clients. With my experience, he could've been a bit more professional and transparent (Not sure how difficult it was to process a simple request I had!) Next day I take time off work to go to Fidelity (having remembered I had an existing IRA account) and all customer service had to do was print out a copy of my Traditional IRA account. That was accomplished within minutes, no hassle. I was even informed setting up accounts via Zoom calls was fairly new and suggested going in person was much more reliable. Immediately after my stop at this Fidelity location, I go to my regular Chase bank location and again, I was approached with some bullshit I needed to invest 100k to open a Traditional IRA. I didn't buy into this as I had initially put in much less to open a Traditional IRA account with Fidelity in 2019/2020. Made me realize Chase was only after the 1% commission had I invested 100k to open a Traditional IRA. Chase, as a private client of yours, you have always provided excellent customer service until this point. We can keep this relationship going so long as you fire all the incompetent bankers as needed.
