Free weights are adequate. People are friendly. A couple dogs roam around but you get used to it. I used to work out at World Gym in SF until it closed down. PAC is a mini World gym. The cost is reasonable. read more

Highly overpriced for what it offers. The gym is significantly smaller compared to competitors, with outdated and broken equipment that detracts from the experience. The facility is also uncomfortably hot, making workouts less enjoyable. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere for a more effective and satisfying workout environment. read more

PAC has to be one of the most versatile gyms on the peninsula. This place is home to Powerlifting, Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Olympic style weightlifting, Bodybuilding, Pilates, yoga...the list goes on. I've been able to try new things, break personal records, get stronger, faster, recover from injuries, learn from others all in this one place. I never had to alter my workouts because a piece of equipment wasn't there. The free weights go over 150 lbs with multiple sets. Different types of barbells From Rogue Fitness, Texas Powerlifting Bars, ivanko and specialty bars. Staff and members are what makes this gym so great. Everyone really gets along, truly a judgement free zone and people genuinely want to see you succeed. Bottom line, whatever your fitness goals are, PAC has everything you need to facilitate it. After reading the review posted on June 16, I felt compelled to write a response. Women with "scowls" made me laugh . I, and a team of women, not only workout and train at PAC, we compete in powerlifting. Having said that, the reviewer is right - - we don't smile enough when we lift, especially, deadlift. Not sure I'd call it a "scowl" , though. More like the "Hulk" look- when going over 200- 300#s. For anyone thinking of joining, or just working out, this gym has a dedicated staff, helpful and responsive to your workout needs. Just know, folks come here to work out- not socialize. I, and many others, have been training with Chris, aka, Topher, Allison, and Donni, for years. When we do, it is with two things in mind 1) results , and 2) staying healthy- -staying positive makes both of those happen. This gym, and the trainers, help make this happen. read more

I only go to this gym because it's so close to me but there are a lot of issues.. Firstly, aside from one younger male staff member, no one who works here is friendly. In fact, the women all have scowls on their faces every time I am there and are very unpleasant to be around. I asked a young curly haired guy to show me how to use one machine and he almost rolled his eyes, looked at me like I was stupid, and did not show me how to use it. Terrible experience when I'm paying $50 a month. Their equipment is Veryyy old and machines often break. There is no AC. They do not keep up with the laundry so there is often no towels to wipe down machines. The owners also allow republican political propaganda to be posted within eye view. The Wi-Fi is terrible and even the yoga and cardio instructors complained about it. Don't expect to get Wi-Fi anywhere in the gym reliably. I mean I wasn't expecting much but what it is is just very low quality, so fair warning to anyone thinking about joining. My experience asking for help on a machine is what prompted me to write this. read more

Ok, wow. Just saw a sign saying that starting October 1 they're gonna have "New Winter Hours"... as in they're going to close an 9pm instead of 10pm on weekdays, and 5pm instead of 7pm on weekends. WHY THE F would an INDOOR GYM be open for LESS hours during the very time of year where it's harder for people to exercise outside due to less hours of daylight and crappier weather??? That's 9 LESS HOURS a week, when their old hours were already ridiculously limited compared to other gyms. This is on top of the new owners raising dues by a whopping 33%. Zero upgrades. Same hella old and janky equipment. No changing rooms--just two single-stall bathrooms. No AC. One floor single floor fan that you hope someone else doesn't take. Very limited classes. TL;DR: Dues are 33% higher and hours are even more limited. This gym is now a terrible value and you'd save money if just bought your own treadmill. read more

This gym is small quiet and perfect for gun shy individuals to build up to whatever fitness level they can achieve. It's got everything you need to get serious about lifting, cable machines, squat racks, smith machines and dumbbells. It's got enough cardio equipment and a variety of fitness classes and it's clean and well maintained. There is only one thing that bugs me about it, and that is that their new additional floorspace. It needs to be cemented and stabilized for heavy duty use, but it needs to be mentioned. If you are looking for an alternative to the over packed, over hyped 24 hour fitnesses and those others this is it. You can do anything you want here and when you hatch from your cocoon you will be a fitness butterfly. read more

Smaller and more outdated than I thought. I usually run at the 24hr in Pacifica and was hoping this could be the new alternative. PAC has its pros: not crowded, even during busy hours, very friendly staff, has what you need, but it's just a tad too old and doesn't get it up for me. I'm used to places like Equinox where gyms are almost sexy. You enter into the reception on the left, small waiting area on right and the room with all the cardio machines in front of you. Treadmills (there are six with fans, five without), 3 elliptical machines, weight machines everywhere with little space to move in between and a really nice boxing room, a group exercise room with about six hanging punching bags and a separate weight room (which is nicely ventilated by having an open side). Two changing rooms upstairs, two bathrooms each with a shower (I would think this would cause a wait), and about 20 lockers for public use. Mostly seems like Pacifica residents (makes sense), very community-like feel. read more

I love it at this gym. The people are really nice that work there and i see them cleaning all of the time. I train with Topher and have world weight lifting records because of his excellent experienced training. I have also been to his circuit training and they have other classes like yoga and cardio kick boxing. A great place where amazing people go. read more

So this is my gym. There are many like it. But this one is mine. Cheap rip off....but "Full Metal Jacket" is a great movie. I have had many gym memberships with all the moving I have done in my life. And when I decided to move back here there is a part owner that I went to high school with and she encouraged me to come back to this place even when it moved. The good: + It is a lifter's gym + It is a cardio gym + It has many classes throughout the week with a lot of variety. I always want to attend some. But I am a bit of a loner on workouts. Just my own personal preference. The instructors are always super nice and they are always getting people sweating. + The staff is just awesome. They say what up. They adjust the TVs if I wanna watch a game. They dont get involved in people's workouts. They are always on top of cleaning up and its maintained very well. + It also has a mui tai (sp?) gym attached to the gym itself. There are classes in and out of there and even with little kids running back and forth to use the bathroom or water fountain they are extremely respected children and it has that "family" feel to it + People are respectful. There are no grunters. If you ask to work in on a set they do it. There aren't any super annoying gawkers that make everyone uncomfortable. Everyone seems to be there to kill it.....but still has a social feel + There is childcare for parents. I dont know the details but it's there. + You can rent gloves. Get protein if you forgot it. They even have pre loads + The bathrooms are always clean and there are two mini showers. I have never used them. But they are there + There are always towels and even a effervescent mint towel to not stink if you leave and have to hit up the store on the way home The bad: - It's next to a Chinese food spot. Which isnt there fault and it doesn't smell in the gym. But there are times I step out to take a break and smell it. I like that spot....but that is a different review - There is a school right in front of it and its kind of a pain at certain times to get into the parking lot because of the road and the way Pacifica designed it - There are no basketball courts or swimming pools. But I dont generally look for those in a gym This is a great gym. I dont think I will change unless I have to for some unforeseen reasons read more

This place is getting worse and worse. Whereas once you could only get Wi-Fi in the front room and not in the weight room, now you can't get enough signal to load a single website page in the whole place. Also, there's enough black duct tape on the equipment to stretch from here to Los Angeles. Seriously, invest in some new upholstery on the equipment! At one time the weight rack was in front of the mirror. That's nice when you're lifting free weights. Now they shifted and the machines are in front of the mirror and the weights are now in front of a blank wall. This place is going downhill quickly. When my two year membership is up I won't be renewing. read more

WooHOO! Lost 14 pounds in PAC's Weight Loss Challenge, AND everyone in my class lost weight. EVERYONE. It's hard to believe since I participated in my doctor's sponsored weight loss program. On my doctor's program I had to eat a bunch of supplements and nasty cr@p called medical food. Did not lose zip in the doctor's program, and he finally told me "You don't need to come in any more" like I was cheating on his program - which I wasn't. Month's of his strict diet and expensive supplements for nothing when I lost 14 pounds on PAC's Weight Loss Challenge in 10 weeks. Plus, on the PAC plan, you can eat plenty of food. I was NEVER hungry. I dropped from size 10 to size 6 jeans and now the 6's are getting a bit big. I have lost 2 more pounds since the program ended. The program is based on the 17-Day Diet, but better because each week we talk about food/nutrition for the first half hour and then a trainer comes in and we work out for the last half hour. First off, the trainer is really nice (and cute). I'm old, puny, and grumpy. If I couldn't do the exercise he was asking me to do, he readily offered up an alternative. No big deal. He made me feel good about what I could do. Also, I'm not a "joiner." I don't like organized clubs and meet-ups. I guess "hate" is the more appropriate word for how I feel about organized events, but the Weight Loss Challenge simply didn't have the feel of a class or some sort of meeting where you felt compelled to be social. The diet was explained in the first half of the class and people simply spoke out about their concerns/questions. Also, prizes were given each week, and yes, I did win a few which was fun. The weight loss challenge is taking the summer off but will start again in the fall. You must be a PAC member. Additional charge of $35 but you would cringe if you knew what I paid my MD in worthless supplements and medical food that tasted like dirt. And the cool part is - the person who loses the most weight and attends the classes gets $$$$. I won $75. Yup. Second prize gets their money back - $35. Like Nike says, "Just Do It." You have nothing to lose, or rather you have some love handles to lose and will gladly donate them to the Weight Loss Challenge. read more

PAC is a great gym out on Pedro Point, housed in a large building someone told me used to be a Safeway. I especially like the fact that it is locally owned. It's also totally low key and staffed by cool locals who aren't trying to sell you stuff like some other chain gyms. I think the rates are good and they have a very extensive variety of weight and cardio machines, as well as a large selection of free weights. I've been going here for months but what really has me pumped lately is the awesome circuit training class taught by Chris that I'm hitting every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning. Six colors, three stations per color, three times around each station, then switch colors followed by 5 min or so of killer abs. I'm on week five and I've definitely seen results. Chris is a powerful motivator--he goes around and helps everyone get their form right and if someone has a limitation or injury shows them a substitute exercise. I've also heard that the other trainers are great. Give it a try! read more

Great gym, well kept, and friendly staff. Plenty of equipment and lots of classes to choose from. I particularly like the circuit classes led by Topher. As a runner it's been instrumental in giving me a competitive edge and has helped in increasing my endurance and strengthening my upper body. read more

I travel all the way from SF to PAC to attend Kenya Academy muay thai classes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:00-8:30. Since Kenya Academy moved into the PAC, I've had really positive experiences with the PAC's staff, facilities, equipment, and overall atmosphere. This place is not professional at all. Don't go there, or if you cancel your membership it may ruin your credit. First of all, they moved without contacting their clients via e-mail, claiming it was too difficult. They were not even open for a week. The forwarding phone # they left was not being answered. I canceled my bank card because of the fact that I could not find them and they had access to it. Once that happened I started getting past due notices for my membership -only a week into it. I finally got in touch with a person a week later and was told it would be taken care of. I never heard back until this morning when a collection agency called me for 4 months back pay for my uncanceled membership. What about "I quit because you are messing with my credit and not supplying a place to work out." do these people not understand? Don't go there. If you give them your business -they might ruin your credit. read more

Way better than 24 hour fitness...the phone number is wrong I think but the rest looks good. I like the location...it is clean and the staff is friendly...the machines are clean and there are towels and lots of new magazines. There is also coffee in the mornings...yum. The personal trainers all work for themselves so they answer to you and not some corporation. The classes have a great energy and I appreciate that the room isn't a giant fishbowl. The prices for membership are good and there is childcare Try Ryan Sport if you want a private trainer...he is great. read more

I have walked by this place many times but never went in to check it out-- until today. Took in a free yoga class -which was very good--and had a tour with owner, Lisa. If you are looking for a comfortable and affordable spot to work out--this is a nice place. People were friendly and normal-- not a of of bells and whistles (although there are refrigerated, mint-scented white towels to refresh yourself and a Keurig coffee maker to perk you up--nice touches) but it will get the job done with plenty of equipment that seemed newer and well maintained--and not hordes of people all around. Yes, I could go to 24 hour fitness in Manor but I like the local-ness of this place--kinda like the difference between a great mom and pop restaurant and a chain. Check it out if you haven't yet--it doesn't feel intimidating, clubby or pretentious--just a great way to stay healthy--looking forward to doing more there. read more

My favorite gym ever! I just renewed my membership for another year. Its clean, has well maintained equipment and a wide variety of classes with excellent instructors. PAC is back in business. They are now on Crespi, just across Cabrilo Elementary. The place in mid size. they have more iron than cardio, but not short of choice. They offer various classes. Its ok, and great for those in the neighborhood. Its a place where people know each other's names. Some grew up in the same neighborhood. some probably even bullied a few of each other. read more

PAC has re-opened under new management at their new locaiton on Crespi. I've been a member since way back when it was out on Pedro Point. I really like the place. It's got a nice "local establishment" feel. Not glitzy and "commercial" like 24 hour fitness. The new aerobics room is really nice, they do lots of classes in there. Some of the equipment is kind of old, but all in all I like the chill local low-key feel, the free towels and coffee, and the easy-going attitude. I think the place is on the way up and its a good place to go and work out. BTW, they have a small space for little kids to hang out while you work out, and they have discount day-passes for teens who go after school. read more
