If you're apartment hunting in LA- this is IT! I've lived here for 6 months now and it's been a dream. I rent a large studio with high ceilings and a private balcony, and it's significantly bigger than most one-bedroom apartments I toured while looking. It's also very quiet. I rarely see my neighbors and very rarely hear anything from the surrounding units. The building itself very clean and in a relatively nicer part of DTLA, so you still get some DTLA noise and action but that's just city life for you tbh. Most importantly, and you'll see this repeated in a lot of reviews- the building manager Christian is so nice and on TOP of things! I rarely ever have issues, but if I do he responds to my emails within minutes with a plan to resolve it. I plan on being here as long as I can! read more

We just moved out after 13 years! We didn't want to leave the building, especially now that Christian has taken over as manager, but with our work office closed due to COVID-19 it sadly didn't make sense for us to live downtown any more. If you are looking in the downtown area definitely check out Packard lofts. Not only is it a historic building with a cool old bank vault in the parking area, it's run now by competent and caring people. If you have any questions please ask me! Over the 13 years we had many, many, many different managers, I wish Christian could have come along e arlier. Since he took over with Moss management company things definitely improved around the building. I've seen the reviews about flooding, broken elevators, broken garage door, no security, etc but since Christian and his right hand man Scotty took over, the problems have been addressed with a friendly attitude, quickly and efficiently. They truly do care about the building and tenants. No more hoping someone would be in the office and if they were that they'd listen to you. There was one girl Myra, who I literally had to beg to come up to my loft to check something.... it was a lot of frustration to get to the point the building is at now. Now is the time to live here if downtown is where you need to be. I miss the city and the building. My grandfather actually purchased a Packard from THIS building back in the way back days. Our family has a lot of history and connections to downtown, I'm hopping and praying that downtown survives this strange and literally surreal time. I will say I am surprised by the comments being left here about Christian because he has not been an ideal person to speak to about anything . He has had my car towed without sending any taking any type of conservative measure to communicate that my car will be towed. It's pretty much standard for an apartment complex to send some type of email to let people know their car will be towed. I have been in communication with Christian via email for numerous times so the fact that he did not give a simple warning that my car was about to be towed is extremely petty and disappointing . I was mistaken thinking I could park there and before I was giving a chance to undo my mistake he called the tow truck instead of calling me . 2. The first time we ever had communication was when I was in the lobby waiting on my friend to come down. He asked "can I help you with something " I just said nah I'm waiting for my friend thabk you" he then said "who?" at this point I'm a lil offended because it shouldn't really matter. I'm waiting in a lobby. He said "iwell I just wanna know because this is MY Lobby" -- I thought this line communication was extremely unprofessional. Not to mention the condescension in his voice Everytime we speak to him. One time I was trying to speak with him about something and he cuts me off and says "you said that already!" I just wish there was someone here I could talk to that's not biased and just ... normal. Even the assistant Juan was very unprofessional. I was running late and I simply knocked on the door to get let in and he didn't budge. So I just pulled the keys out of my backpack and let my self in and I stormed past him saying why couldn't you just opened the door!? He said "I wasn't gonna open the door if you're being rude" all I did was knock on the door. We've had plenty of interaction so again this was weird and petty. I try to be here as less as possible to avoid Comin i action with them. The fact that Christian has had my car towed coasting me 700 something dollars when that all could've been avoided with a simple email yet he Insists to say hi to me is bizarre. Feels as if he taunting me. Roxana the regional manager started off trying to assist me but she's left me on read for months and has not returned any of my phone calls. Don't move here. All of the tenants with positive reviews have left. Building is old and the new Mgmt company isn't helping. This is the third Mgmt company in 3 years. Jaime who's in all the positive reviews is no longer here. There's a fly infestation in the gym and if you're working out in morning be prepared for the staff to come in and take shit and stink up the gym. The only other amenities are the fire pit which never has propane. They did finally get a direct line for the bbq grill which is a plus but the igniter was broken when I last tried it. So bring matches. There's no online portal to pay rent or submit work orders. The temps on the weekend that tells you they're temps so best they can do is leave a sticky note. If you like cereal with no milk then this is the place for you. Dry and unsatisfied but at least you won't starve. read more

I've been living at the Packard Lofts for over two years now and I love the building and the staff. The building is always clean. All the neighbors are pretty chills and friendly. The units are a lot larger than what you would get at other places. It's close to all the bars and restaurants in DTLA. Christian is probably the best person to have when you need something done at the apt. He's always quick with his replies and makes sure that everything is taken care of. He really goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend Packard Lofts read more

The property manager, Christian T., makes this place a haven to live at. I have bombed his inbox with so many requests and favors (yes, I am super high-maintenance) and he has taken care of every single ask and does not require follow-up. Since he lives on site, he's also helps you during his off-hours, which I've experienced valuable that is late at night. When the building's management company switched from Greystar to Moss & Company, he made the transition so seamless, and we all know how difficult that actually is. A strong property manager is something you need to keep an eye out for, especially with all these large complexes of hundreds of residents to take care of. This guy is gold. The actual units of the property itself are way underpriced from a price per square footage standpoint. Most of the units here are huge with high ceilings and modern appliances. It's such a good deal. The residents are also a more mature crowd. I rarely hear loud parties. I'm probably the loudest on my entire floor... I'm never leaving this place. read more

This happened on June 1st 2022, and we have requested the management several time for a rent abatement for the loss of time, emotional and physical distress. But we have not heard back from them until now. Just to reiterate, the most recent incident on June 1 @ 9pm was not the first time this has happened. This was the third or forth time leaking in our unit. Obviously, the June 1 incident was the worst of them all. Our entire unit literally flooded with the LAFD involved, and now repairs are being done for the drywalls almost 3 weeks after. Regarding June 1, not only did we spend that entire night and weekend moving furniture out, we also spent the next 2 weeks replacing damaged items, washing everything at the laundromat, and deep cleaning the unit. We still don't have a sofa since as you know furniture is backordered across the country. Not only is this incident still ongoing and affecting our daily lives, we are mentally and physically exhausted with this constant worry of another impending leakage. We don't feel at ease or comfortable in our own home. I hope the management understand our situation and respond to our email soon. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience here so far! First of all- the staff is wonderful. Everyone has been nothing but kind! I consider myself an awkward/introverted person, but yet everyone has been so friendly. They even deliver our packages to our door! Free coffee is provided at the lobby. They even remember our dog's name! We have gone downstairs at random times at night to get mail or go out (most recently 8:30PM and 11 PM on random days) and have seen someone staffing the security desk so we always feel safe. Not sure what other reviews were talking about The old management company (Greystone)- had put us in an awkward position. They were not as friendly, did not answer my calls, or emails, which was very problematic as I had already put down a deposit and had gotten approved for an apartment. I was moving cross country from Florida, and could not stop by to even see the complex in person before I moved in. Christian picked up the slack flawlessly and informed me of the change in management (which Greystone could have informed me about before the transition was done! But Greystone just ghosted me instead. Greystone was completely unacceptable and unprofessional with how they handled this.) Christian proceeded to handle everything Greystone dropped the ball on. My bf, dog, and I adore him for this! You have no idea how stressed we all were. When my packages came earlier then expected, he even put them inside the apartment before the move in date which was amazing. He even helped my bf figure out where to direct the movers ON HIS DAY OFF. Now that is amazing! We had a small electrical problem, and he was on it even when I forgot to check my email. Our apartment was clean upon move in, spacious, and has a great location. Our car is secure in the parking garage, and we go down occasionally to check up on it since we don't use it too much these days. The location is so great, we pretty much walk everywhere. I work from home, and absolutely love the floor to ceiling windows! They are perfect for people watching when I need a break from my computer. The gym is small but clean, we love going to the rooftop at night, and we love how aesthetic the zen garden is. We don't hear our neighbors too much. Honestly, this place is night and day from our old place in Florida, and we are happy to be here. This is our first month, so we will update this review as needed, but I don't foresee us having to do that unless we need to gush more :) read more

I have been in my unit more about 2 years, this apartment is best. The building it self is little bit old building but its pretty well managed. All of the staffs are kind and diligent. They are really happy to help you right away if you have any issues. Also they clean all the common spaces everyday and keep it nice and clean all the time. Its a concrete building, no acoustic/sound issue with your neighbors. Location is also fantastic, its accessible and walkable to Staple center, Regal Theater, wholefood etc. I am really happy with my unit and the money value is best in DTLA for sure. read more

Update as of 5/8/20 Things are finally settling down the way they should. Building itself is awesome. High ceiling and good management and staff. Just gotta be mindful that this is heart of downtown, next to a gas station facing another large building which means that all those motorheads will be shaking your world with explosives in their exhaust pipes 24/7. Update as of 2/29/20 After a month I finally had a reply on this thread requesting a phone call, although I am still waiting for the reply on my email. I hope our phone conversation will result in a positive change. Positive Updates 1. Elevator has not been broken for the past three weeks. 2. No flooding in the parking lot for past three weeks 3. 24 hour security presence has been restored. Negative updates. 1. No change in policy for calculating utilities. A penthouse with double the size of my place pays the same amount because we both have one person on the lease. 2. Event parking: wanna know if there is a game at Staples center? Look at all the cars at the guest parking with no permits from the security plus the illegal parking blocking them. Game at Staples = no friends and family allowed to visit you with cars 3. No security camera in elevators: drunk people are destroying the control panels and trashing the elevators. It's a matter of time before we lose elevators again. Conclusion: With elevators and parking that you can actually use, it's a pretty good place. There has been numerous management change and people have been very frustrated. I hope things can settle down better and to see better communication with the company if there is an issue with the management at the site. read more

I moved in a few weeks ago from another downtown loft and this place is the best! The neighborhood is quieter, the building structure has better quality for sound proofing than the Tower I was in...I'm not hearing my neighbor's foot steps above or even below me! The Packard Lofts are cleaner, the management seems to truly care about the building, it's safer (for downtown living) and you actually know that security is truly watching out for you since there are several cameras around the grounds hat actually work too!!! I highly recommend if you love loft living in DTLA as much as I do. read more

I CANNOT say enough positive things about my experience with Christian! He is soooo wonderful, incredibly helpful and caring throughout the whole process. It really makes a difference and makes it a place you want to live. It seems like the other apartments I had viewed have leasing agents who do not even answer the phones or reply to emails. Still unsure if I will be applying here, but I wanted to give a shout-out to the assistant property manager (I think) Melissa Soto for being so friendly and squeezing me into the schedule so I could tour the same day I called, despite her schedule being incredibly busy that day as she was alone. She clearly has a love for the building (was telling me about its history, so the name now makes sense) and the community, which speaks volumes. She always opened the door with the line "welcome home" which is a little flair that I have not noted elsewhere and reflects the dedication she has to this job. Also shout out to the security guard (Rob? I'm so bad with remembering names) who was friendly and introduced himself. I've been living here for 9 months now and have nothing but good things to say! The building itself is always clean and there's security on duty every night which makes me feel safe. I love the area surrounding us. Coffee shops, super markets, Santee alley! The management team here is amazing! Specifically Christian! He is the absolute best both professionally and efficiently. I have been a long time resident of Packard Lofts (since January 2015) and unfortunately must move out to be closer to my job due to the Covid crisis. I have never stayed at an apartment complex as amazing as Packard Lofts. Every single aspect of the property is exemplary - the cleanliness, the secure and easy to access parking spaces, the soaring lofts with impressive size balconies and postcardesque views, the in loft amenities, and of course all punctuated by a high level of detail, sophistication and care throughout the property. Extra special shout out to Manager Christian Taboada, who radiates professionalism and quickly and efficiently handles inquiries or concerns. Moved in here in Feb. Christian & Scotty are BEST building management team I've ever dealt with. They are so accommodating and quick to deal with anything that arises, truly makes you feel at home the second you step in the lobby. The move in process was flawless, 0 stress. Went to try and visit yesterday. First off, myself and a friend tried to contact the leasing office for a week straight. No response. So we went into the office and we're told they don't accept tours without 24 hour notice. I mentioned I was only in town for the day several times, and the person first said they were about to go to lunch, but then it flipped to, he had another tour. Very poor customer survive and overall experience which is unfortunate because the plan was to lease with Packard. Want to be transparent as these rave reviews may not be telling the whole story. read more

I've been at Packard lofts for almost 2 years. I've searched all over dtla and by far Packard offers the most square footage for your $. I've already recommended a friend who feels the same way. There may be no pool or fancy gym but to save $1000+/month for a 1100 sq ft loft with high ceilings I'm okay with a basic gym and great rooftop deck. Can't leave out on site parking that isn't 1/2 block away and free guess parking which is rare in dtla. The building is under new management and I've only dealt with Christian the on site manager and he's super efficient. I've had some small issues and requests which he's handled in lightning fast speed. Central location and walking distance to LA live, Whole Foods,Ralph's and a ton of great restaurants. read more

I left a review for this community when I first moved in last year and now that I've left DTLA I felt it necessary to leave another. I absolutely LOVED living in this building and it was bittersweet to leave but my experience was quite enjoyable. A little over halfway through my 13-month lease a new property management company took over and the improvements were noticed almost immediately! Most importantly, the community manager, Christian Taboada, was by far the most amazing addition. Always available with a great attitude and professional solutions, Christian transformed the vibe to being very welcoming and for a while he was doing this alone!! Any time I had a question or concern, I felt comfortable approaching Christian and his team. Such a crazy place. We have lived here for numerous years and it just never is any different. Owner has various family members "supervising" who are all clearly unknowledgeable about building management or maintenance from what we see and can't seem to let a good management company do their job. We can see it as they do weird things with the apts when they turnover like take out the hardwood floor and pour cheap (now doing fake ) cement floors and don't seal them (big noise carrier), use seemingly inexperienced subs who screw things up, slow to make upgrades, took out a spa which was leaking and instead of replacing it so we had a water/pool area they just covered it with fake grass and put in a fire pit but never provide the fuel. The gym is a joke. The only bbq has been broken for at least two years. They took out the kitchen area off the rooftop fire pit area so there is nowhere to prepare and serve food for a party there (post covid), "remodeled" the loft above the gym into a open shared office/relaxation area but never had comfortable furniture or WiFi up there, has windows up there that don't shut (broken) so always too cold or too hot there, they run or allow a friend to operate at least three illegal Airbnb's that we know of (think parties and strangers in and out, ) and now there seems to be something else going with some kind of an illegal all night social club or something using an apt (people, noise). No control over the parking garage. Cars and street people can just follow you in as the gate is so slow to close. Freight elevator is always broken. Have to drive down a stinky alley as they use the other real parking entrance off the street for paying parking for the nearby fashion school etc.. Different managers since we moved in, always changing. Same with security guards. And they have the worst decor taste of anywhere we have lived or looked at when touring apartments in Dtla. The lobby looks like a low end college dorm, replete with old pool table and cheap furnishings. Seriously maybe they are the second worst. With the recent Street parties and trashing of buildings after the NBA and Dodger championships at our doorstep, the question of safety and noise has really ramped up. You don't care or could handle this, got a big pit bull, or bad ass boxers, it's for you. The ONLY thing going for it honestly is apt space and the current manager who really tries. We are rethinking our tracks. read more
