This guy is a complete scammer! I bought a "rebuilt" transmission 4L80E. I asked about the specifics of what parts when into it it and all the right things. Please help repost this POS Ongoing issues with this business Bought rebuilt transmission from him that Was never rebuilt 1400. Blew me off till yesterday (few friends and I caught him) Then scammed me again and only refunded me 14 dollars Looked at receipt when I got outside his shop and saw it was 14 dollar refund. He locked door behind us and would not answer .Police said it was a civil matter.. Police said he's know for b and keeps doing it because he gets around the law. My motorcycle battery died in the town of Jordan. I called Packrat a few minutes after closing, but the owner picked up, and very generously agreed to drive over and help me out. He helped me remove the seat and jumó the battery, and then held the bike upright while I heated up- couldn't put it in a kickstand because battery was charging. Then, he refused payment, and said he just wanted to do a good deed! This guy and his wife, who was In the car with him, were simply wonderful. Thank you guys! I will always remember your kindness. ***PACK RAT BBB COMPLAINT*** The transmission went out in our truck. We called Pack Rat in Jordan to get it fixed. They quoted us the $1800 to get a new transmission put in and said it had a 1 year warranty if anything goes wrong. We got the truck down to Jordan from Anoka and had them replace the transmission. We paid them the $1800 and went on about our way about a few months later the truck wouldnt drive you could NOT go forward so we called and they told us it was under warranty and we could drop the truck off so again we pay for a tow down to Jordan $200 get the truck dropped off they "Fixed it" it was the front main seal. We pick it up and a little over a month goes by and again the truck will not drive the only thing that worked was the reverse. So we call they tell us to bring it down and they will get it fixed. AGAIN pay $200 for YET another Tow and a week later we still have not heard anything so we call about 3-4 times no answer no return call finally 3 days later my husband is able to get them on the phone and they said its all fixed and ready to be picked up "per Donny" so we drive down to Jordan to pick up the truck. We get there Donny is gone and they tell us we have to pay $1000 for the truck because the part that broke was not part of the transmission Which is FALSE. The employee called talked to Donny and he made us pay $1000 for something that should have been covered under warranty. When I asked to talk to Donny and asked him why we were having to pay for something that should be covered and why we weren't notified letting us know it would be $1000 to fix it like you are supposed to and get our permission to move forward with the fix. Donny then said I don't recall doing any work on the truck and I don't believe we ever put in a transmission for you before. Needless to say we had to pay for something we shouldn't have had to pay for and if it wasn't covered nothing should have been done without calling us to make sure we would be okay with paying $1000. I pay PackRat and Don Macelree, who could not even show his face to collect bill that he knew was wrong, and now is posting bad reviews of me? What kind of person is this? Scammer? Or just don't know how to fix a transmission? When your not satisfied with the work and confront him he will yell at you and say it's your fault (on the phone) Either way the truck they "fixed" for us last week is leaking again.... wow.... I wouldn't trust this shop to add windshield wiper fluid. read more

A very bad experience!!! Took my truck in for a transmission rebuild. It took close to a month to get it back and it wasn't right. Donnie has me bring it back, again close to a month and it still wasn't right. I ended up taking it to another transmission shop for the rebuild. Their opinion was that it was a junkyard transmission that had not been rebuilt. Donnie lied, and has degenerated into name calling and threatening me for posting a bad review. I have screenshots of his texts but don't know how to post them yet! My advice is run don't walk away from Donnie. He's big scary and one has to wonder what else is going on with him. Packrat put a Transmission in my sons truck cost us $1600 it was a 2002 chev Silverado with a black hood. first time the bell housing was cracked brought it back they rebuilt it. my son drove it from there shop to cottage grove went to put in park and the cable was disconnected they said the cables brake all the time NOT the case it fell off son buddy reconnected it. went out again my son brought it back they fixed it sort off my son drove it to Illinois stayed for a couple months it went out again. i called Packrat asked for suggestion to get in back to mn. mind you this was time 4 the transmission went out having it towed back to mn would cost more then the repair ask for help to get it back or parcel refund he said I will call you back this was in March of 2019 still has not called back i have tried to call back several time and they won't even answer the phone. never never never goto that place very unprofessional and yes childish and DO NOT NOT NOT STAND BEHIND THERE WORK. I brought my Transmission to Don Macelree Packrat Garage. He quoted me 1350.00 and estimated a turn around time of 2 days. I was not in much of a hurry to get it back but was approx a week. I brought my car to a family friends garage to use his lift and expertise to install my rebuilt transmission. After installation my car did not go into any gear and poured out transmission fluid. After inspection there was a hairline crack near the tail shaft. Pulled the bolt out from the tail shaft and noticed it was stripped or tightened too much. Took transmission back out, returned to Don after him telling me it was my fault. He agreed to look at it and repair it after refusing a refund to me. After many attempts to reach him I finally got the transmission back. Brought the car back to friends shop and installed. The transmission did not leak but only went into 1st gear. Back again fighting with Don. This time him and I agreed on bringing my car down to him. I spend several hundreds of dollars for trailer rentals, help from a mechanic on install and removal, transmission fluid. After 1 month of sitting at his shop I received a call from Jordan Police saying my car was parked illegally in front of a neighboring business. Month 2 Don said he looked at the car but said he was too busy working on other paying customers vehicles to spend time on mine. I told him I don't drive the car in the winters which it was by this time. After month 3 I send a friendly message asking how it was going. He replied with he was going out of business and I have to pick up my gar the next day or it will be gone. Myself, Brother and Dad got off work early on a Tuesday, rented ANOTHER trailer and went down to get it at the agreed time Don told me to be there. We met a Jordan Police Officer down there as Don said he was going to charge me 30.00 a day for storage. We arrived on time with no sign of anyone at the shop. Called him several times and waited 3 hours for him. Two days went by and he contact me saying my car was outside. Before I made the trip I called PD to see if it actually was and they said there was no sign of it. two more days went by and he sent another message saying it was outside again. Called PD again and they told me it was in the middle of the Ally behind the garage. PD stated it will have to be towed asap. I paid for a tow truck to go get it and to get it as far away as possible from that shop. When my car arrived home There were many paint removing gouges along my back bumper and one on my front bumper. The car does not even start. He probably did more than meets the eye and will follow up when I dig into it more. I will be taking this person to court. Everyone else that is reading this should contact me if you want to do the same. This poor excuse of a human needs to be shut down and refund all the money if his wrong doing. I was a little upset that the Jordan PD said they have heard of many issues like mine yet have not done anything to stop him from continuing business. read more

Stay away from Packrat garage. Jordan Minnesota is a nice town too bad they allow businesses like this to operate in their community. I paid for a rebuilt transmission and didn't get it. The owner threatened me and harassed me by phone and told me not to sue them. read more
