I've had the fried pork tenderloin which is the side of a dinner plate and a few of the burgers. My favorite is the chipotle burger with jalapeños and jack cheese with a smokey hot mayo that is scrumptious. The maple burger is epic too!! Try the onion rings that are a huge pile set for a family. Don't think of eating them yourself. Service is down home and very efficient. Don't be surprised to wait a bit for a table in this small town as there were two servers and a ton of people on the nights we've been. It's not pretentious but very great service. Ambience is machine shed, small town charm. It's comfortable. You'll see people you know and everyone else seems to know one another. You might be sitting next to your neighbors!! Try Baxter's!! These folks handed me what can only be described as a pup cup of rice. Like literally, I could've ordered a Starbucks dog treat and come out with more carbs. Then came the "egg rolls." Spoiler: they weren't egg rolls. They were limp, barely warmed-up spring rolls stuffed with sadness. Two of them. I ordered egg rolls and ended up with appetizers straight out of a gas station freezer section. Uncooked on the inside too--crunchy outside, still questioning life on the inside. Beautiful. Now let's talk about the chicken and broccoli. Usually this dish comes swimming in sauce--like the kind you actually want to drown your rice in. Instead, I got a dry broccoli funeral with a few strips of chicken sprinkled on top. No juice. No flavor. Just vibes. Honestly, if my Tupperware lid had more moisture from condensation than my meal, something went terribly wrong in the kitchen. $34 for this? Jade Palace, y'all should be arrested for armed robbery with chopsticks. At this point, I'm convinced the chef just saw me walk in and thought, "Let's see how far we can push this guy before he calls the health department." It was a beautiful fall afternoon and the trip and scenery was beautiful. Walked in and the waitress greeted us at the door. One in our group of 7 had called to make sure we had a spot. The table was set and ready for us. The buffet was set up and hoppin. So many hot choices. Fries, ribs, fried chicken, fried catfish, ribs, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, chicken and noodles. The waitress got our drinks right away. We all had the buffet. Salad bar and desserts available to. I think everyone ate more catfish than the ribs they originally thought they were going too eat. Our drinks stayed full and the tables in the rest of the restaurant filled up as we crept up on 6pm. We decided if the ribs on the buffet were the same if you ordered off the menu then might not be the most awesome ribs. The buffet was constantly being filled with fresh food. I watched the ladies walk by multiple times to fill the chicken, ribs, and other hot goods. I think this buffet is a good price got all the good they got on it. I think maybe it was the owner who even stoped and thanked us for coming. A great small town treat for home cooking. I ended on the delicious berry pie. Yum.
