I haven't written a review for a very long time with restaurants that my family and I have visited and that's because there's not too many restaurants out there there I have been to have inspired me to write a review. However, Pad Thai Cuisine is very different. My son and I decided to try Pad Thai Cuisine today because we just happened to be in the area. I am so glad that we did! The exterior of the restaurant looks like a house with a cute little white picket fence. As you walk onto the porch, there is a door to the right of it. You open the door and the reception area is just right ahead. We were greeted by a young lady named Jasmine. She is super sweet and friendly. We were told that we were welcome to sit anywhere we liked, so we decided to take a window seat. Where we sat, we can see the little garden and the main street. There weren't a lot of customers, but wasn't empty either. Jasmine asked us what we wanted to eat. Since it was our first time there, we asked for her suggestions. She recommended curry and fried noodles. She also told us that our meal came with drinks (only for lunch), so my son and I ordered Thai Ice Tea. This is no ordinary Thai Ice Tea. It wasn't overly sweet and the tea was brewed. I could be wrong, but it really tasted like they used tea leaves to make the tea. I didn't ask though. I should ask. After talking to Jasmine, we decided to order Chicken Yellow Curry with rice and Pork Pad See Ew. Let me start with the Chicken Yellow Curry, it had bell peppers, onions, chicken and potatoes. I have never had potatoes made this way before. It was soft (not mushy) and the center was firm (not raw). It was made to perfection! The chicken was not dry, the curry was not too spicy and very well balanced with the curry seasoning. It was served along side with a small amount of rice. The Pad See Ew, was so delicious! The noodles were not clumped together. When I took the first bite, I can taste the wok hay (Chinese for taste of the strong fire that the wok that the noodles were cooked in. The pork was very tender with a tad bit of fat that made it just right to bite into. We requested it to be mild because I can't handle spicy food. However, if you like spicy food, I say go for it! Last but not least, the dessert! There were 3 choices, but we ordered the mango with sticky rice. It was AMAZING! The sticky rice was not mushy, the mango was sweet and did not contain a lot of fibers. Small amount of coconut milk to be drizzled on top. I felt my palate being in heaven. Pad Thai Cuisine is owned by a Laotian family. It's owned and run by grandma, mom, aunts and two daughters. Grandpa is retired, but also helps with ordering and picking up ingredients when they run out. It's a very unique and cozy place to enjoy some delicious Thai Cuisine. Don't take my word for it. You must go and try it out yourself! I will be returning to the restaurant to try other delicious food that they have to offer! This restaurant surprised me. Very friendly host and waitress. Plenty of seating inside. Not fancy and old decor but food was good and staff were very polite. Several dish options. We've been here a handful of times now and haven't been disappointed with their lunch specials yet. We've ordered the pad Thai, basil stir fry, rad na, bbq duck, and pad se ew lunch specials. Every time we've ordered from here we have been happy with what we've gotten. The lunch specials are pretty generous, hovering at about $15 and you get a salad side and also a drink (soda, Thai iced tea or Thai coffee). The service here is also nice and efficient even when there are large parties. The ambiance is a little lacking with older carpeted floors and tables a little cramped together in an older building, but they make the best of the place here. We will definitely be coming back here as regulars. read more

New Year's Day lunch in CV. Surprisingly there are a few places open for lunch on this day. Luckily, my favorite local Thai restaurant is open today. This is my version of Cheers where the wait person knows me and my usual dishes I order. It has been cold and rainy and I'm getting over a cold so my go soup is Tom Yum with chicken. The sour tangy taste helps my sinus and I enjoy that flavoring. For my entree was the red curry with fried tofu. Like the soup, I can drink the curry by itself. I really enjoy curry. Just curry over rice could be enough for me. Together with the lunch entree comes salad and drink, Thai ice tea. Always pleasant and enjoyable dining experience. read more

My family and friends just adore coming here. It's such a cozy restaurant! I believe it's family owned so it always feels good knowing we're supporting locally owned business' within our community! The service is great! All the wait staff are super kind and eager to help with any questions or concerns one might have including known food allergies. Their super attentive but aren't overbearing. I appreciate their patience as well! They don't rush to get you out once all your plates have been received. Everyone is so kind here! I love it! The food is so delicious! I always order the green curry and it's always done to perfection. The veggies are always so fresh and the meats are perfectly cooked. The curry puffs are another favorite of mine and hold so much flavor along with the little side sweet cucumber salad that goes along with them. You can taste the love in the food and feel the coziness throughout the restaurant! Great prices and portions. The ambience is like dining at your grandmothers house. Super affordable hole-in-the-wall Thai spot that I found while looking for lunch specials in the area. Tried the lunch yellow curry which only comes with the entree, white rice, and surprisingly a drink: Thai iced tea or a Thai coffee. Wish it came with a side salad or soup instead of the free drink, but for $12ish, I can't complain too much. Curry was flavorful, not the best I've had, and could have used more protein, but I was satisfied and finished everything. Delicious with very fair prices! Came here for lunch on a weekend and it wasn't crowded, so we got seated immediately. We got thai tea, chicken satay for appetizer, pad Thai, and red curry with pumpkin. All the items from the lunch menu were very affordable and the portions were good. A friend recommended this place, so we had to check it out. It's easy to miss even though it's right off the main road -- but it's definitely worth finding! I recently went back after a doctor's appointment for a quick bite, and it was just as good as the first time. With prices climbing everywhere, their lunch deal is a steal -- $12.50 for an entrée and a drink. I got the eggplant with chicken, and they were happy to swap the peppers for mushrooms. This place is super easy to miss / check your map before coming!! I didn't realize the type of neighborhood or location this would be until I got here... if I had known, I might not have come by. They have pretty good deals for lunch specials -- we had Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and Thai Tea and it was under $30. Service was pretty quick thought it felt like we were rushed out even though it was only 1pm (closing was at 3pm) and the restaurant was only 30% full. My Pad Thai felt like it was soaking in tomato juice or ketchup for some reason. It wasn't bad but it wasn't... the best. I have been to this restaurant several times now and I must say this is now my go to place for Thai food. The food is always cooked, to perfection, and it comes to the table nice and hot. I ALWAYS get service with a smile, the waitresses are always very polite and ready to help. They are always ready to answer any questions that you may have about the menu. But what I really enjoy is listening to the AUNTIES in the kitchen that are cooking these delicious meals, hearing the chatter really reminds me of being back home in the Philippines although I don't understand anything they are saying it just gives me a warm and happy feeling inside. I guess this restaurant for me would be the epitome of what I consider to be "COMFORT FOOD". I most times order the yellow curry vegs/tofu with whole grain rice. Also the veg/tofu pad see ew. Plus, I never visit without ordering the crispy tofu with peanut sauce. The servers here r professional and personable. They r what tipping is originally all about. If u come for lunch u get a complimentary Thai ice tea or coffee and they make it vegan. Pad Thai cuisine is definitely the best choice in CV for Thai food. I think their meat is always good-- never dealt with chewy chicken or old tasting shrimp. We are big fans of their pa ram chicken as well as the pumpkin curry. They are generous with sauces and generous with veggies in the curry, though it is often hard to find pieces of tofu in the tofu curry. Thai iced tea here is great. Takeout and in person dining are both fast. For two people (3-5 dishes) it takes 15min for them to bring it all out. The restaurant is small and wheelchair accessible. Ordered takeout and the food was tasty and the service was good (hence the stars) but the portions were on the small side- the plastic cylinder container of eggplant was just over half filled, the soup was about 1/3 filled and the noodles (overcooked) were just enough to cover the base of the clamshell container. Have been ordering thai food here for years and they have never disappointed me with their food. My family and I's go-to orders are the green curry, the suki soup, and I also love the pad thai. Price wise, Pad Thai Cuisine is reasonable, we always order BBQ CHICKEN SKEWERS & PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE. BBQ Chicken is gently grilled & the sauce really adds the final touch. Pineapple Fried Rice is always fluffy & has just the right consistent amount of flavor. PaNang Curry has always been a little short of a full tub, but the Curry is decent. There are a few pieces of carrots, potato's & beef, but there is definitely no " Bang for your Buck" so I wouldn't order this again. Came in for the first time today and ordered a chicken dish. I felt like the chicken was boiled only and almost dry. It seemed like it was slightly fried after it was boiled though, and it had a very odd consistency. I wish they would get diced chicken and grill it with seasonings, and flavor it instead. read more

Please say it isn't so. It looks like after a few years; some of my reviews are no longer showing. Anyway, it's time for me to re-review Pad Thai again. Yes, I am giving them 5 stars. As you can see, we come here A LOT. If we enjoy a restaurant, we definitely become regulars. Pad Thai has been one of our favorite Thai restaurants. Overall, the food is consistent and our girls love it here. That's very important to us. The servers are nice to us and we definitely take care of them too. We always chat with them and they're genuinely sincere with us. We brought my husband's parents and brother here for the first time last month and they loved it too. They met up with us again at Pad Thai the following week. Lol. I try different items occasionally; but, it has been chicken satay for out girls for the past few years. What a great find for Thai food in Castro Valley. I tried the pad kee mow. It was delicious. Will definitely go back to try more dishes.

though I only ever go here for one thing, this place is amazing! Theyre very fast and friendly. I only come for the Mango Sticky Rice (best mango sticky rice ever!) but I can tell that all of the other food is amazing too. Ive also tried their Thai tea and its absolutely splendid. The restaurant itself is quiet but comforting. Only sad part about this place is that it isn't open on Tuesdays :( read more
