I visited Red Chili Restaurant on March 14, 2026 around 8:11 PM with my wife and nephew. We noticed the prices were a little higher compared to when we used to dine here before, but the service was good and the food came out on time. We ordered five dishes: seafood soup, choo chee fish fillet, pad kee mao, roti canai, and rice. The food was good and we ended up eating about half of our meal and asked for to-go boxes to take the rest home. Unfortunately, on our way home we realized we forgot the to-go bag with all the leftover food at the restaurant. I immediately called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager. I was told they had already thrown the bag away because they waited for a while and were preparing to close. I returned to the restaurant around 8:45 PM to ask about it in person. I spoke with one waitress who said there was no manager available. Another waitress came over and I explained the situation again. She said there was nothing they could do, and the conversation became unpleasant. When I expressed my frustration, she told me to go ahead and contact a lawyer and then told me to leave the store. I understand mistakes happen and that food may sometimes be thrown away for safety reasons, but the way the situation was handled was disappointing and unprofessional. A little understanding or better customer service would have gone a long way. We used to enjoy coming here, but this experience left a bad impression. read more

Hands down my favorite Thai restaurant in the east bay! Whenever I visit my family, I pick up their pad kee mao and roti canai - 10/10! The flavors haven't changed once since my highschool days and I'm so happy they are still around. They get busy during peak hours, so I really recommend going early or before traffic picks up. Staff are friendly, one thing to note is parking is ample in the back so don't be afraid if there are no spots in the front. It's been over a decade since I've been back! Grabbed lunch with my girls on a Friday. We shared three dishes and it was a good amount of food, since we don't put away a lot lol. We got pork and shrimp spring rolls with avocado in it (my friend specifically requested for the avo, so they accommodated for an extra $1). I thought the spring rolls were just alright. The veggies were overpowering so it tasted super healthy. It came with peanut butter dipping sauce but the sauce was runnier than I'm used to. I think I would've enjoyed the spring rolls with fish sauce more. The larb salad was decent. I do wish that we got it with ground pork instead of chicken, because the chicken was a bit dry. But overall I liked the fish sauciness of the dish and enjoyed it with lettuce cups. The pad kee mao was the best dish. It was flavorful and the noodles were cooked well. Came back again after the initial yelp event happened and this place is really good! Because my girlfriend was raving about the chicken wings in fish sauce; we had the wings and rad na again! Both of them are really flavorful, I can see why this place has been around for so long now. The wings themselves are a little sweet with a little bit of salty, crispy when we got our dish and super flavorful. Honestly, I could probably eat these all the time. 5/5* The Rad Na was good, I'm one who likes a lot of sauce and these noodles are essentially sauce covered. The thing I like about them the most is the wok flavor that you get from the initial bites. 4/5* The roti canai was good as well! I wish there was a little more of the roti for dipping as we had a good amount of the sauce left over. 4/5* My pictures below aren't from what we ordered because we were so hungry we forgot to take pictures, so instead I posted some from the actual event. From what I recall the lettuce wraps were good as well! I'll definitely come back here again! My only gripe is that there wasn't really a sign pointing to the parking lot in the back, so you almost don't know it exists. This place is great! I'm always looking for decent Thai food in the area - asked around and was told to stop by here. Didn't disappoint and it doesn't break the bank. What we ordered: - Tom Yum Wings: very mild flavor, not spicy at all but very crispy - Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice: I loved this dish, I think their version is better than the Chinese version! They don't skimp on the salted fish, the chicken is velvetted and tender, and the added kick (mild) was the cherry on top!! Highly recommend if you like this kind of fried rice. - Pad See Ew: really standard but in a good way! Again, they really know how to cook their chicken, very tender! - Pad Thai: also very standard and not too sweet! Always a hit - Choo Chee Fish Filet: fish was so tender and the curry had quite a kick so be careful if you don't like spice. I loved it! - Herbal Lettuce Wrap: if you like Nam Khao, then you will like this dish! It is deep fried rice and every single grain is so crispy. It comes with a lettuce wrap so you can pretend that it's healthy. So good and great for sharing!! The service here is relatively fast and efficient. They have a tiny parking lot (just a few spaces) so you might have to park in the plaza next door, and they also close after 2:30 and reopen for dinner, so keep that in mind! read more

I went with the green curry with beef. They brought out a complimentary tom yum soup first. Not my favorite. It had way too much tofu and had a different flavor I was hoping for. The salad was fresh but barely had any dressing, so it felt kind of plain. The green curry itself was solid. I asked for it spicy and the server warned me their spicy is very spicy, but mine ended up being pretty mild. Still tasted good though. I also got the herbal lettuce wrap, also known as nam kao. Their version is a bit different since it doesn't include pork skin and has minced ginger, but it was still really flavorful. I'd definitely order it again. Overall, I'd come back. The lunch deal is affordable and the portions are fair. Might try something else next time to mix it up. read more

Casual vibes, lots of seating inside. Pros: - the roti canai dip is really delicious, and the green curry was a highlight for me as well. Crab fried rice was delicious and the perfect thing to eat the curries with. - Service was pretty quick - Lots of options on the menu, something for everyone (actually kind of made deciding kind of hard, there's so many good options on the menu) - Very reasonably priced items - each dish is about $17 ish which I think makes sense regarding the quantity - beef in the green curry was so tender and delicious Cons: - really small parking lot in front that fits 4-5 cars, otherwise parking could be tricky. There's an additional parking lot next door/behind that can be helpful - sometimes little mistakes can be made when you're ordering, which I think can be a language barrier - but this can easily be accommodated by double checking the order, etc. - I felt like the texture of the eggplant in the green curry was a bit too firm Overall I wouldn't mind coming back! Red Chili has some really awesome lunch deals that make it all worthwhile if you happen to come during the week. They have a lot of vegan friendly items which made me happy. While they aren't clearly marked anymore on the menu (minus the vegan egg rolls), you can ask the staff to make the item vegan and it's usually not an issue. I went with the Tofu Green Curry Lunch Special ($15) which included a small vegan-friendly soup, salad, rice, and main. The curry I had was very flavorful with lots of tofu and veggie pieces included. The soup was a nice touch so next time, I'd probably order a different main to offset having so much liquid during my meal. I also ordered their Vegan Egg Rolls ($9) which came with six half-pieces of fried taro, vermicelli noodles, and veggies wrapped rolls. Loved these! They also do Thai Iced Tea with boba ($6) and were able to use coconut milk to make it vegan friendly for me. Service was friendly but there wasn't much checking in after we received our food. You pay up front and get any to-go containers there. Overall, very happy with our meal and would come back again. We came here on a weekend day during lunch and we were surprised at how spacious this place is. I counted at least 20 tables. There are 4-5 parking spaces in teh front and then more parking int he rear. We ordered the eggplant tofu dish and the rad na with beef. Our dishes did not come with rice, so we had to add that as a side for an additional $2. The eggplant tofu had great spices, but the eggplant was not tender -- it was more on the firmer side, which is not typical with these dishes. The rad na with beef was more bland than we would have liked. The noodles didn't have a ton of flavor, but the sauce was similar to the one in pad se ew. The Thai tea with boba was good and not too sweet. Our food came out lightening fast, probably not even 5 minutes after we ordered. Overall, this place had decent food and we would be willing to come back and try other dishes. The prices were reasonable as well. read more

This delicious semi hole in the wall restaurant right off the busy Mission Blvd can be a bit intimidating to get to as you only see a tiny parking lot in the front. However, don't worry as there is a medium-sized lot in the back. I've had no issues with service and a waiter even called me back when the call dropped asking about allergies during for a takeout order. Very fair prices and delicious honey food. Panang curry with chicken was really good and was the standout dish for me. I'd go back here for this and definitely recommend getting it with plain rice. The pineapple fried rice was good on its own but definitely wouldn't recommend eating this together with a curry since it would overpower the pineapple flavor. I wouldn't mind getting it again. Pad kee mau was good and had tender pieces of beef. Wouldn't mind getting that again but also wouldn't mind trying a different noodle dish. #48 with tofu was good and while I wouldn't mind getting it again, I'd try a different vegetable dish in the future. The mango sticky rice was not too sweet. I didn't expect it to be green and was fishing to see what made it green. My guess was pandan but based on the menu, it's green tea. My brothers and I just enjoyed a wonderful lunch here. We ordered dishes to share and an individual dish each. So many delicious firsts for me. The roti canai was so good we had 3 orders! Another first was the Thom Yum soup with chicken and medium spice. It was wonderful. Another first is Thai hot tea. The flavor was so light and refreshing. The ambiance was truly comfortable. We were able to catch up with each other and dine for nearly 3 hours. The service was perfect. They were attentive but not too much and easy to be signal when we needed something. We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. The pork chop and rice, the cube steak and rice, pad thai noodles, crispy egg rolls and for desert the mango sticky rice. Thanks to Red Chili Thai & Vietnamese for everything. Highly recommend. We plan to return. Note that one brother drove from Modesto and me from Santa Rosa. My other brother lives in Hayward and recommended this location. So glad he did. p.s. 3.5 stars for the food but rounding up to 4! It's rare to find a Thai + Vietnamese restaurant. The dishes here are not fusion but an authentic offering of each of these cuisines, so there's something for everybody. My husband and I ordered several items for takeout. Everything was ready in 20 minutes and still hot by the time we got home. We ordered the pad kee mow, green curry, fusion combo (appetizer sampler) and tamarind fish. The pad kee mow was good! I liked the flavor and texture of the noodles. It had tomatoes in it which I found unusual but didn't mind - it didn't affect the overall flavor of the dish and you could easily pick it out. The fusion combo was a nice mix of Vietnamese and Thai appetizers. My favorite items in the combo were the egg rolls, which were Vietnamese egg rolls (cha gio) made with rice paper for that extra crunch, and the fried calamari - yum! They also included a bunch of different sauces for everything in the combo which was nice. The green curry was pretty good but nothing to write home about. The tamarind fish was good as well. Portion sizes were large and we had tons of leftovers. Looking forward to coming back here and trying more of their Vietnamese dishes! read more

This was ordered as take out. I am vegetarian and opted for tofu pad see yew and tofu fresh rolls. I enjoyed the noodles. For me, I needed spice though and wished there was another little cup of their chili sauce for it. I used the one that was provided in my spring rolls. The broccoli was nicely cooked - soft enough to bite into. The spring rolls, I was slightly a little disappointed with the ratio.. they are on the smaller side so I'm glad I didn't order it alone. I normally like a better bite of tofu and noodle, but this was a tad more lettuce the peanut sauce was good though. This was my first time as an out of towner visit, and would come back when visiting my friend who lives very close. My friend enjoyed the beef she ordered (didn't catch what it was called). Haven't been here in maybe 15 years but it was still amazing! Now as a vegetarian who can't have dairy I was elated they had so many accommodations for vegans! I didn't even have to ask, it was merely suggested. I wanted the fresh rolls without shrimp and tofu was offered. I wanted a Thai iced tea and coconut milk was offered. I was so relieved I didn't have to explain no dairy - not even one time! The fresh rolls were great, the Thai iced tea was so good since it's been a while since I could enjoy one, and my drunken noodles were incredible as they came with tofu and veggies- not either or! Came here on a Friday night to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday and was REALLY disappointed with the service. We had a party of 14 and we pretty much ate on top of our own filth. They never came to collect our empty plates and dishes until we finished nor did they check to see how our table was doing. The dishes piled up as we had to stack plates upon plates. Also, one of the ladies that was serving our soup did not realize that she was spilling our soup as she held it. I kept telling her that she's spilling our soup and she just stood there and did nothing until a worker told her that the soup was spilling. They did not replace it nor apologize. They just placed it on our table and walked away. I brought a cake for my dad's birthday for us all to sing and they just gave it back to us in the box. Most places I go to have the candle on it and is ready to serve but this restaurant didn't care at all. We had to go back home to blow his cake and not all of our party was able to go and sing happy birthday to my dad. The stars given were solely based on food which is the only good thing there, but after this, it makes me rethink if it's even worth going anymore. At the end of our dinner, I told the front how disappointed I was especially in celebration of my dad and she gave an excuse of wanting to give our table privacy which is why they didn't check on us much. They really did not deserve the 18% gratuity that's already placed and they said "due to policy", I couldn't lower it for their terrible service.
