My friends recommended Mai Thai so I finally had the chance to try their food when I was craving pad thai. Upon entering, I was assisted promptly with my takeout orders. I was impressed by the number of people dining in on a weeknight. While waiting for my takeout orders, my ears perked up to the R&B music being played, which enhanced the vibe of this restaurant! I also observed the excellent service from staff checking on diners, cleaning and clearing tables, and bringing food orders out to the tables. As for their food, their chicken satay and the peanut sauce hit the spot! I wanted to scoop out the peanut sauce with a spoon but I thought to save some for the next day's leftovers. My sibling really liked the cucumber and onion side typically served with chicken satay. The pad thai is jam packed with flavor and each time I ate the scrambled eggs, the sweet sauce soaked in the egg made me want to eat more of the eggs! I really like their rice noodle. The only reason I am giving this review four stars is because the tofu was dry. Next time, my family and I want to try their other protein options since we enjoyed our first pad thai overall! Ordered the Pad Thai and Panang Curry for two. I rarely get Pad Thai because I find it to be average at most restaurants, but my friend wanted to order it so we ended up going for it and got it with chicken. I gotta say so far it's the best Pad Thai I've ever had! The noodles are thick and chewy, and it has a perfect umami flavor that makes it stand out from the rest. Panang Curry with tofu was really delicious too. I recommend getting the fried tofu because it soaks up the curry so perfectly. The curry is slightly too creamy for my liking but good overall. Service was great; just the right amount of attentiveness without feeling like we were being heckled too much. I loooved the fresh flowers on the table. Came here for a team lunch and it was delicious! Staff are friendly and attentive. They are moving as fast as they can with only 2 waitressess for the whole place. They do have a lunch rush hour too. They offer lunch specials that are generous portions and thai tea with coconut milk for those who want a dairy free option. The menu had so many great options that I ultimately asked the waitress to order me what she normally orders... it did not disappoint! It was a chicken basil with a fried egg, not too spicy. However, my coworker didn't like her shrimp pineapple curry and said it lacked salt. The drunken noodles were a bit too saucy for another coworker. But everything else was enjoyed. The mango sticky rice was the perfect ratio. The fried banana was on the softer side, it could have been a bit more crispy. All in all, great thai food and patient staff. I really like this place! It seems to be family run and they have nice service. It's a hidden gem in one of the newly updated parking lots in SL near the marina area. Their food didn't miss one bit. My family liked the thai tea, and all of our dishes. There is a bar area with the TV to watch sports games. No reservation necessary but I do think they might have peak times. I always recommend calling before arriving with a large group as common courtesy. read more

Came here with a group and ordered a bunch of dishes. The calamari was crispy and well seasoned, and paired nicely with the seafood sauce. Pro tip: squeeze the lemon into the seafood sauce for an extra acidic kick + it also helps keep the calamari from getting soggy. We ordered the Pad Thai at regular spice level. It leaned pretty sweet with only a mild kick. My friend is Thai and thought the tamarind may have been replaced with ketchup or tomato for a more Americanized flavor. Definitely sweeter than what you'd find at a traditional Thai spot. The pumpkin curry with beef was ordered at the staff's suggestion and ended up being one of the highlights... nutty, spicy, and slightly sweet with a really nice balance of flavors. We also got the pineapple fried rice. I'm usually not a fan of pineapple on pizza, but this dish completely won me over. Solid choice. The larb was very onion-forward and sour, but in a good way... bright, refreshing, and nicely balanced with a pleasant crunch from the toasted rice powder. The basil eggplant with chicken was probably the weakest dish. The eggplant and chicken didn't really absorb much of the sauce, making it feel a bit underwhelming overall. Our total came out to $193 for six guys, and we finished everything (and we're big eaters). Portions are on the smaller side, so plan to order more than you think. read more

This would have been a 5 star review if the quantity/value was a little better. Quality/Quantity - Silver Noodle Salad $19.95 - Good flavors. The lettuce pieces were a little larger than I would have preferred, at least the pieces I got. I like them bite size. Single portion, well enough for two very light eaters, like ourselves. Stuffed Wings Appetizer - My wife's favorite order from Spice I Am in Alameda, so I made this my order so she could also try it here. I really liked the cucumber sauce that came with it. Good flavors but it was only two small wings for $18.95. Pad See Ew $18.95 - Beef, as my daughter wants more iron before our upcoming trip. Decent portions; but again, it was really meant for one person. Pumpkin Thai Tea $6 - Wow, my daughter added this last second and I got a sip. This was REALLY good! I can really recommend this! Overall the food was good, 5 stars. But we are lucky that we are light eaters as there was just enough food for us. Well actually, when I got home, I ate a HUGE bowl of popcorn with nuts, rice crackers, hot Cheetos, etc... So good! Next time I will upload a picture of this homemade snack. Service - 5 stars; friendly and welcoming. Patient, as they had an extensive menu and I needed time to get acquainted with it. It had been so long since I have been here. I couldn't remember anything about this place. Price - $71 + tip. Expensive for a salad, appetizer, one entree, and one drink. And leaving a little hungry still. For a bigger eater (in my younger days), this cost would have been for just one meal. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2010. My wife reminds me that we were day one customers. The thai ice coffee was nice and strong. The staff said it was sweet so she said would add more water to it. It was good. I forgot which noodle we got but it was good too. I wish the noodle portion was a bit more ;) The eggplant was delicious. Love the sauce. Also wish we had more eggplant ;) Staff are super nice and checks in. The plates and bowls are pretty. Well another great experience! I usually always get the green Curry with prawns extra sauce, my favorite. On Friday I got the pad tai with shrimp to go, And of course it did not disappoint. Everything was perfect .It was enough for two people,(I ate it all) Tons of flavor, Lots of shrimp. Got it medium spicy which was perfect but I asked for some chillies and they gave me the ones in oil which really kicked it up about 300 percent LOL That stuff is spicy Spicy! glad I didn't put it all on at once. You come here for the Thai food and stay for the cute, cozy, family vibe atmosphere. Family owned-- shout out to Lisa and Jenny! You feel like you're a part of the family. They're super welcoming and the place is beautiful. They always have fresh flowers and currently have the place decked out with even more beautiful flowers for upcoming Mother's Day. A great spot to celebrate birthdays too. Food is delish! And portions are big in my opinion. Good to share or save if there's any left overs. I've tried multiple dishes and love the pumpkin curry with chicken (DELISH) and chicken pad thai. Today we tried the grilled salmon with veggies as well. Super tasty. Desserts and Thai teas are also a must try. There are also dairy free/vegan options for dishes and teas. Just ask! Beautiful spot to dine in while I've also done my fair share of placing orders for pickup. They're very attentive to making sure you're taken care of and you're not waiting for long. Parking lot can get pretty full with other establishments around, but we've always managed to get spots close by. Be mindful that they do close mid day (3-5P?) and reopen for dinner. I used to come here all the time w an old high school friend and I religiously got the green curry with rice noodles as my side. However my boyfriend recently introduced me to their coconut rice and it is my fav coconut rice of any restaurant I've ever had. VERY MUCH worth the extra $$$. Also usually the basil chicken is my go to at other Thai places and my boyfriend introduced me to the one here- amazing!! I keep meaning to take a photo but I eat it too fast Mai Tai is my neighborhood Thai and my post-walk pit stop. The chicken satay is tender and perfect with their peanut sauce, plus the little side of red onion and cucumber seals it. I've had the pad Thai chicken too and it gets two thumbs up . Service is consistently kind, food comes out quick, and it's been a hit every time. I'm on visit five and counting. I always plan to take a photo, then I gobble it before I remember. This is our first time eating at Mai Thai Cuisine for our 19th hole lunch. We have eaten at other restaurants in this strip mall but never tried Mai Thai. The lunch specials intrigued us to try this restaurant. The 9 of us walked in and the staff was nice and friendly, restaurant was clean, cozy and relaxing. Our party all ordered different dishes and they were all delicious and a few of the guys ordered meals to go after they finished lunch. Lots of menu special choices and I'm sure we'll be back. Everything was close to being good/great, but tasted slightly off. Papaya salad was hand cut (positive) but the knife work was inconsistent and there wasn't enough Papaya to balance out the dish. Veggies in the pad see ew were overcooked and mushy and there was a weird after taste, as if the noodles were stewed instead of stir fried. Same after taste was present in the pad Thai - maybe it was a stewed garlic after taste? Either way, it was thoroughly unenjoyable. I use to eat here all the time but moved out of town. Since we came back to visit family we just had to stop by and grab our favorites. One of the best Thai/Lao food in town! We got Lady fingers, Tod Mun, Shrimp rolls, house noodles, pad se ew, everything was delicious! The service is always so nice and welcoming, they have the right amount of attentiveness. I also enjoy the interior design and color scheme from what it previously was, the color scheme feels fresh and modern yet has a cozy and homey feel to it as well. We ordered tom yum, satay, eggplant tofu, and pad see ew. Everything was very sweet, to the point the meal was hard to finish towards the end. We did our best to improve the flavor with lemons and chili sauce that they provided. I don't recommend if you prefer a more authentic flavor profile. read more

I ordered the Pad Kee Mao, which was listed as a lunch special for $15.49 at the restaurant, but on Yelp the menu says $14.49. Why is the lunch special more expensive? Even worse was the food itself. The portion was tiny, barely any noodles, mostly just carrots and vegetables. I've never had a Pad Kee Mao this small before. On top of that, it didn't taste good at all! super greasy and overly salty. I usually eat small portions for lunch and have a pretty small appetite, but this was the first time I finished a lunch and still felt hungry! The Thai tea was also disappointing! There were a few items that stood out to someone plant based like myself, but I ultimately went with their Tofu Larb Salad and a Tofu Pad See-Ew. The salad was sweet, tangy, and spicy - all amazing flavor components. My pad see-ew was fine overall although I found it to be a bit too greasy with the wide noodles not being as wide as they normally would be. Still, the flavors there but I'd skip this next time. Service here was great as well. Once I mentioned if something was vegan, our server made sure that everything else we ordered that could be veganized would be the case (such as our tofu larb salad).
