Blackhawk statue

This is a fine place to spend a night. It's clean. Furnishings are dated. Wi-Fi grows spottier the further you are removed from the desk. Two restaurants practically onsite. 24-hour coffee. We are traveling in the midst of the 2020 pandemic. We're thankful this place is still open. The site is perfect ~ situated on the river with a great view of the Blackhawk statue. Lovely, peaceful riverside deck for reading or watching the water flow by. Some rooms (not ours) face the river. Lilac is in bloom and perfumes the well-kept grounds. Plentiful free parking. No breakfast included, but adorable bakery downtown. In pandemic season, we arrived to a locked front door (we were given some instructions for check-in by phone earlier in the day, and were warned no one would be on site.) Even with the instructions, we had to get creative to get in! Even so, we were able to locate and enter our room. We never encountered any hotel staff in person. They were polite and helpful on the phone. Not great for a business traveler (unless all you need to do is sleep) but picturesque, inexpensive, clean place to stay on a sweet town.

I was a walk in and needed a room and Kywan Edmonson was a great help and was very kind. I'm happy with the room. It was very clean.

Just OK. Not particularly friendly. Avoid the 'breakfast'. Smells of chemical cleaners. Otherwise an OK motel.

Wow! What a spectacular b&b! I've never stayed in a b&b nor been to Oregon, Illinois so why not…read moreknock both out at once. Came here for a Labor Day tubing trip down the river and decided to stay the night to enjoy the hiking the following day. This b&b tried its hardest on the breakfast despite the covid precautions with packaged snacks, fruit, assorted coffee and tea. The rooms are really unique, all very spacious with their own bathrooms. And the common space is super cool. Best part are the screened in porch and exterior wrap around porch with rocking chairs. I picked this place because it looks much like my grandmothers house from the 1800s and wow was it similar. Spoke with the owner for an hour about the character and all the special features. It was so cool to learn more and appreciate her passion. I can't wait to come back and enjoy the amazing breakfast she likes to cook and stay in another room to try it out. Please come support this b&b, you won't regret it!

I loved the attention to detail in the decorations and the amenities. There was a huge DVD collection, although we didn't have time to watch a movie, if we had it definitely would've been fun to look through them all and pick one out. There were cute little chocolates in our room and I loved the fully stocked kitchen that was open 24/7 because when we got back from the wedding we all needed a late night snack! The owners were very friendly and made us feel very comfortable. We stayed in the Somerset room and everyone was jealous. I think it's the best room! Very ornate and old fashioned looking. The house itself was built right after the civil war. I definitely recommend this place!

My brother-in-law had already provided one, but the lady behind the desk said there wasn't one. Later that night, we wanted to take a shower. Only 3 towels were provided. Understandable, so we called and asked for more. We were told we could only have 1 more. The towels were threadbare and that is being generous, so getting dried off was a challenge. She gave us a bag and told us to put dirty towels in it and they would be replaced the next day. No towels were replaced the next day, so we asked for more. For the two rooms, which had 8 people, we got 4 new towels. You do the math. It didn't work. On Monday, we didn't get new towels and the trash still hadn't been taken out. At this point we had to borrow towels from my mother-in-law. We had to take the towels to her house and launder them so we could take showers on Tuesday. On Tuesday around 130 we had a family emergency and had to leave to be with family in Chicago. I explained our situation to the girl at the front desk and even the manager on duty. They wouldn't refund us for the Tuesday night stay. They said they could possibly be full for the night and wouldn't have time to service the rooms. Well, I can tell you that they didn't service the rooms the whole time we were there, and it was never a full house. When I went to get our stuff from our rooms, the housekeeper was in the hallway talking on her phone. I would have gladly paid for a late check out, but that place doesn't deserve a full nights pay for the completely abysmal conditions we stayed in.
