There is a boat launch here but it is in a separate location of the canoe launch. After I arrived me and a buddy decided to head upstream to the West on Fishweir Creek. The paddle was about an hour and ten minutes and the turn around point is just past the Timuquana Rd. bridge. I think its pretty cool to paddle all the way up into some of these small creeks where the water depth is only 6 inches and you still have yet to bottom out your yak or canoe. The paddle back was around 50mins. **Just be aware that if you do decide to paddle to the East out into the Ortega River that the wind, waves and currents get a little rougher as it was also difficult paddling through all the boat wake as well. Lots of birds and other wildlife though on the creek. Seen tons Blue Heron and White Egrets, if your quiet enough you can get close enough for some great photos.

Just all around a great guy and easy to get a long with! Its all inclusive, meaning there are some drinks (like powerade and water) but you can also bring your own, he has snacks like peanut butter crackers and nuts but you can also bring your own food as well, you're covered for your licenses while fishing with him and he does inshore and offshore. we did the in shore trip bc the water was too choppy for off shore but again we had an amazing time! Very nice and personable guy! if you're looking for a charter this is youre guy! We will be keeping his info and using him every time we come down which will be at least once a year. He has all the gear you need just bring yourself and a cooler for your fish and any extra drinks or snacks you want. he made it easy and seamless! Captain Kirk you're the best!! It was really choppy even fishing in shore so it made the fishing a little rough but he still got us on some fish and we saw dolphins and tons of wildlife along the way and some navy ships as well. While it was meant to be a fishing trip it was a bit of sight seeing as well! We got to feed the pelicans and other birds scraps while he filleted our fish up and it was so cool how close they were, he really made it a memorable experience for my first trip to florida ever and me and my husbands first real vacay together! Even one of the times he reeled a pole in we ended pulling up and big awesome conch shell!! What are the odds?!? Seriously made our trip that much better!!

Hooked up a BIG Red on a topwater that I let get under the boat (rookie mistake - not listening to Capt Roger) and it broke off the line. After that I caught Trout, Spanish Mackerel, Ladyfish, more trout, a red, a nice Jack and then I finally redeemed myself with another nice size Redfish on another topwater. If you want a day of fishing and catching and learning, Capt Roger's Charters are the way to go.
