Not really sure what the hype is here. Read all the great reviews and came to try it. Everything is in to-go containers and is microwaved and presented on a plate. The meatballs were chewy and not well flavored. The sauce also has a curry taste to it. If the price was in line with Ikea, sure it's worth it. This place was my first try with Swedish meatballs. The spot is fast casual, counter serve. They prepare their meals in the morning and reheat them for you if you choose to eat them there. The meatballs were cooked right , and the mashe potatoes were just like a good home cooked meal. No fuss and not too much butter. This can't be 4.5 star Swedish traditional. First of all, it's precooked takeaway food in plastic containers brought in from the United States. Our counter service representative assured us the food was pasteurized and safe. I don't want my food pasteurized thank you. I tried the meatballs with mashed potatoes and lingonberries. The meatballs were tough bland and tasted reheated. I have no idea why you would choose this place with the dozens and dozens of local eateries filled with locals at lunch. I loved loved loved coming here. I spent my last meal here and enjoyed every bit. The owner, Christian, is extremely friendly and welcomes all questions. He recommended the dagens (spelling?), which was a salmon and cod tomato stew with boiled potatoes. It was so good and the perfect comfort food feeling. There's also complimentary salad, bread, and water. I left extremely happy and highly recommend this place. After reading great reviews about this place, I made it my mission to eat at this place during my short time in Stockholm. There are so many good things to say about this restaurant/caterer: *the food is SUPER *the owner, Christian Taylor, was congenial (and from Los Angeles where I am from) *affordable *1 1/2 miles away from T-Central (the owner said he has a closer location to T-Central) *Take Out or Eat In In addition to ordering Swedish Meatballs, I had the owner choose three additional entrées (for take out): Pannbiff (meatloaf with a cream sauce with a side of root vegetables), meat and potatoes, slow cooked lamb and rice. To make it a meal, Christian gave us complimentary salads (you can never get enough vegetables while traveling) and several slices of dense Swedish bread and butter and little cups of lingonberries which are like cranberries for Thanksgiving dinner. Oh my!!! If you eat in, there is self-serve bread, butter, water or you can get soft drinks or beer from the fridge. For all my friends traveling to Sweden, I'm recommending this place. read more

The meatballs didn't shine as much as some reviews suggest but the sauce and potatoes were delicious. Small cosy place with very friendly staff! We passed by while walking in town. At the time we were not hungry but soon returned to have a nice homey Swedish lunch. The menu is compact and covers the most popular Swedish dishes. I chose the pannbiff with Chantarell sauce and traditional lingonberries which was so delicious! There was a perfect balance of sweet, salty and a tiny hint of spice. This is the definition of Swedish "husmanskost". My husband had pasta with beef chilli. That one was also delicous. But enough about the delicious food. What makes this such a charming place is the owner who actually took the time to talk to each customer and help them choose among all the dishes. This is especially helpful for all the foreigners that end up here - being in the heart of touristy Stockholm and all. He even made a round talking to all customers, getting to know them better as he was getting ready to leave after the lunch rush. After all these praises - why only four stars you might ask. Well this is because the food is made beforehand and stored packaged in a fridge. Now this is good in the sense that you see what you're getting before deciding on the dish. And, I must say that you cannot taste the difference. It tastes as fresh as it possibly could but mentally it brings down the experience a little since I know that it has been reheated. Worth noting though is that this is not the only restaurant reheating the food. Overall very good experince and I would recommend anyone craving traditional Swedish husmanskost to stop by. read more

We had an awesome food here, the owner is just great and loves his job, it's a lot fun hearing his favorite food versions and how he explains each dish. Its pre cooked and heated in the microwave, but that has no affect to the tastiness! Each of us had a different dish and they were all great and very tasty. Just the right amount of spices, salt, herbs, etc. Just the right amount of conversation from the waitress and he wanted us to make ourselves like home and he meant it - nice atmosphere, even if it's not a restaurant atmosphere. Excelent lunch place. The chef, the host I don't even know how to call him is the most pleasant man I have ever meet. He welcomes you with a smile and explains the concept of the meals. He starts by telling you that most of the dishes are Swedish home cooked meals. He ushers us to a shared table with a father and his daughter who are enjoying an abundant plate of pasta and a porc filet with steamed potatoes. I order a meat stew with steam potatoes as well and my friend takes meat balls with smashed potatoes. We are offered a salad and some fresh water. Food arrives and it is perfect for a cold weather day, super rich in favour but the best comfort food ever. Super recommended! read more

Awesome place to go grab lunch in a great part of town! Went here after taking the free walking tour of the city to get something quick and it did not disappoint!
