Stunningly fresh and delicious seafood is what Lisa Elmqvist specializes in. From the delicious bleak caviar appetizers, to the grilled fish entrees everything is prepared to perfection. A must try when in Stockholm.

Came here cuz of the reviews for the shrimp toast. To be honest, it was aite. Really expensive for what you get and not too memorable...

Our first meal in Stockholm was very satisfying. We had several of the same dishes at other traditional Swedish restaurants in Stockholm but Lisa was the best! Big plus is that you can easily make a reservation on The Fork. We had: * 3 varieties of herring: normally I'm not fond of herring but these were the perfect, not too fishy, not too vinegary. * Toast Skagen: it's a pretty simple dish, comforting and satisfying. At the time I had this, I enjoyed it but didn't think it was that special but after trying it 2x more times elsewhere, I realized it was special at Lisa after all. * Fish soup of the house: a bit like a bouillabaisse with deep rich flavors. Solid but probably wouldn't order again * Whole fried lemon sole Grenoble: as an Asian I wouldn't call this whole as it was missing the head, but it was served with a light coating, with tons of bones but swimming in a delicious butter sauce. If you like butter this is for you! Service was typical Swedish, food simple and solid. Wouldn't hesitate to visit again, especially for the herring.

Went with my family and tried about every salmon they had. While I no longer eat meat, the family thought it was pretty darn good and they are salmon snobs. Service was great and the draft beer was spot on. Restaurant is in a temp location right next to the original space as the entire area get a face lift.

Super slow service. I thought the food was fine, but not as good as I expected. We ordered the fish stew, which was light and refreshing, but I liked the stew at Rolfs Kok far more. The portion was a bit stingy on the fish, and overpriced. We also ordered the shrimp sandwich and herrings sampler. Nothing to rave about. I thought the shrimp sandwich was heavy handed on the mayo, and was a bit hard to eat as a sandwich so I ended up having to deconstruct it. This restaurant appears to be popular with locals, and has a nice view of the city and is located in the food market. Definitely make reservations.

We stumbled across Lisa Elmqvist while looking around Östermalmshallen, the food market in Tarmola Square. This is probably the best restaurant I've eaten at in all of the Scandinavian countries during my short trip this summer. The fish is incredibly fresh and the dishes are simply made. To start off the meal, we had the Kitchen's choice of 3 starters (180 SEK) which happened to include Skagen, Cured Salmon, and Pickled Herring. The Skagen consisted of a small mound of sweet Atlantic shrimp dressed in a light mustard-mayonnaise which was topped with a spoon of trout roe and garnished with a sprig of dill. The flavours were simple yet delicious and I can see why so many people rave about the Toast Skagen here. The Salmon was thickly cut and topped with dill. The herring was perfectly pickled with a sweet tart flavour and a nice firm texture. Paired with finely chopped chives and red onion, it made for an exciting burst of flavours. An amazing start to lunch! The Avocado Alexandra (211SEK) with a mix of shrimps, honey, dijon mustard, sour cream, mayonnaise was light and refreshing. The shrimp filling was served in a halved avocado and topped with smokey salmon and a sprig of basil. What I thought was really smart was that they cut a little slice off the bottom of the avocado to keep the shell from rolling around the plate. The Butter Fried Fillet of Pike Perch (315 SEK) was my favourite dish. The skin was perfectly fried with a light crunch as you bite into it. But the star of this dish has got to be the hot buttery sauce with cream boiled wild mushrooms. Not only was the taste of mushroom very apparent, there was also a lemony flavour which made it irresistible. I ended up finishing off every drop with the complimentary bread. The Steamed Cod (335 SEK) was my least liked. Although the cod was extremely tender and perfectly cooked, I felt the fish itself lacked flavour. The eggs, shrimp, horseradish and beurre noisette did help to make the dish more exciting but overall, it did not compare to the rest of the dishes we tried. We were lucky enough to drop by really late in the afternoon in order to get a table. However, reservations are something I would definitely recommend here as the restaurant started to fill up again fairly quickly around 5pm.

Lisa Elmqvist is located inside the fabulous indoor food market Östermalms Saluhall, and is a classic meeting point for lovers of fish and seafood. The ingredients is always fresh and seriously, seriously good. I have visited this place numerous times and never been disappointed - both regarding the food, the presentation and the service. The restaurant is often full, so be aware of that. At times it could become a bit lively due to that the restaurant is located in an indoor market, but I only think that it ads something to the atmosphere. What could be noted though is that Östermalms Saluhall is due for renovation and remodelling so do pay a visit to this traditional indoor food market before it's too late. Only open at lunchtime!

Fresh fresh FRESH seafood and fish served in this restaurant/market. You can purchase fresh seafood and fish as well as sit and dine to enjoy a great meal! Below captioned are the fresh catch of the day: halibut and the salmon carpaccio. The fresh catch of the day was amazing. It was slightly salted and had a bit of seasoning that complimented the fish perfectly. It came with horseradish, eggs, and shrimp.

We originally had a 7pm reservation but wanted to see if we could pop in earlier at 5:30. The staff graciously accommodated our needs and we were seated right away, even though there was a long line! We ordered the toast skagen and bouillabaisse from a friends recommendation, and both were delicious! They have fast service as well. A little on the pricey side but well worth it!

Great pickled herrings and seafood in general. Here sitting next to some Danes and behind us an American. They all say this is a must to do while in Stockholm. Perfect place to experience seafood. You have to get yourself here. I would come back. Pure satisfaction.

Two words: 'Awesome', and 'Toast Skagen'. OK, that's three words. But I'm too busy devouring their unbelievably great food to get into distinctions. Seriously, seriously good. Go. Often.

Food in Stockholm is simply on another level. Four start eateries back home would be reduced to 1 or 2 stars at best. We stopped in here to pick up some salted salmon. The meals people had been eating at the roped off restaurant simply do not exist back home. Magnificent presentations of crabs, shellfish, shrimp with cuts of fresh fish that would make a Japanese fishmonger sharpen his knives. Then of course the fresh bread which seems an essential part of every meal. If you want an experience in an open and functioning market be sure to make your way here. On the other hand if you need a few raw (from the sea) ingredients on your way to visit a friend (like us) this is your place. Outstanding.

As I am a tourist, I got that crazy milkshake with a cinnamon bun on top of it just for good measure of course. The cinnamon buns in Sweden are obviously exceptional as they originated from there- crunchy on the outside and warm, melted, soft cinnamon goodness on the inside. The waffles are delicious as well, regardless of which waffle you get. All in all, this is a great place to go to if you're visiting Stockholm!

I'm not sure what Swedish waffles and 1950s diners have in common, but this place makes it work for sure. We came in on a Sunday morning, and were able to get seated right away. My cousin and I both had the raspberry waffle with whipped cream (75 sek, approx $8USD.). The waffle was perfectly crispy and the jam was delicious, but it wasn't a particularly filling for the price, really just a treat. They had fancier offerings as well, for a bit more money, as well as savory combinations. I overheard from a neighboring table that you can order a waffle with both whipped cream and ice cream. Where was this information when I was ordering? Oh well, next time. I would visit Älskade Traditioner again, but perhaps only for dessert. Alternatively I may try one of their savory options for a full meal.

Inside there's even more crazy artwork as the walls and ceilings were painted with crazy cows! There was only 3 flavors when I went (since it was later in the day) and the girl who was working at the counter was super friendly! She offered me to try the 3 flavors with a smile on her face! That never happens with a smile on your face! Anyways, I decided to try the lavender one and some hazelnut almond mixture. I liked both of them a lot but decided to go with the lavender one since it was a bit more unique. They also had Semlas in the store and oddly enough that day was "Fat Tuesday" which meant that it was a "national Semla" day. Since I had to celebrate such a historic holiday, I got the ice cream inside the semla and it was delicious. The way the bread soaked up the ice cream was super satisfying.

I had been using only my credit card in Stockholm, but when I got in to StikkiNikki, I was bummed to find out this place was cash only. The lady was extra nice, and accepted my Euros and gave me SEK back. I had the mocha flavored ice cream in waffle cone, and the single scoop serving was very generous. The waffle cone was crunchy and tasty, but the ice cream just tasted icy and watery as the flavor wasn't infused. Later as I was strolling through the city, I stumbled upon another StikkiNikki that had different flavors, such as Tin Roof (peanut and fudge swirl in vanilla - I was super excited for the crunchy texture!) and salted caramel. I tried those samples and again it was very watery and the flavor wasn't infused. If this were the United States these would be baller flavors... Side note, why do Scandinavians like their licorice so much?! There was a salted licorice flavor, and all over the grocery stores, there are licorice candies. I remember when I went to Iceland there was licorice everywhere as well.
