If you think shopping at Winners is too much work because you have to search, then this is not the place for you. The process is as much fun as the result. I would advise wearing gloves, not because the items are so precious, but because you might want an extra layer when you have to move a pile of stuff just to get to the other pile of stuff. I found a trove of old frames for an upcoming show. I also noticed lots of other small knick-knacks like old cameras, little wooden boxes and other doo-dads. (The Art Collector owned by Mr. G a few doors down is better if you are looking for large items like furniture). One item that sticks out in my mind is a carefully framed cross-stitch landscape - on the back it was addressed to a Mr and Mrs on the occasion of their 50th anniversary in 1976 from Mr and Mrs Thompson. If found, please return to Mrs Thompson of Georgetown, Ontario. What brought that little treasure from its comfortable home in Georgetown to this purgatory? I was tempted to buy it and maybe try to finding this Mrs Thompson of Georgetown.

I would love to have a chat with the owner because I am sure there is a documentary worthy story behind how this store came about and is still operating. Trying to enter this store is like walking in to an episode of hoarders. If the items were organized there would be a better chance they would not be getting damaged. There is likely items of interest in there, but would it be worth getting injured to try to find them? The owner might consider taking photos and listing items on market place, instagram, kijiji or e-bay. Another idea might be looking for some employees or volunteers depending on the owner's budget that would be willing to profit share on sold items listed. It upsets me to see piles of items that could be of use stacked around just waiting to get damaged especial paintings. Another possible idea is if the owner partnered with local businesses to allow art work to be hung there with signs and contact information regarding purchasing the items. This might be a bit more complicated, but it would at least give the paintings are chance of being viewed instead of getting destroyed due to how they are being stored. The contents of this store have the potential to be a viable virtual store project, but presents an illogical and unsafe in person shopping experience.
