We decided to give this place a shot one night when we arrived into town. We got dinner and was excited to try the food. The staff was friendly and answered any questions we had. There was also a local guitarist playing music inside which gave it a nice ambiance. They provided us complementary chips and salsa and said, if we order dinner, we would get access to the salad bar. My husband went for the carnitas plate and I had two stuffed beef chile rellenos. Both of us got extra beans instead of the beans and rice. The salad bar had all the basics to make a salad and a variety of toppings and dressings. My only comment is to label the dressings. We were guessing which was what and hoped for the best. I think I had some kind of creamy balsamic dressing and my husband got ranch. The other two options looked like ceasar and bluecheese but we were not sure. Many guests were having to sample the dressings at the salad bar to figure it out. The presentation of our food they prepared was nice and looked delicious. My husband said the carnitas plate was a good portion, but it did have some fatty pieces and was flavorless until he added the salsa. We both also enjoyed the beans that came with our food. The beef stuffed rellenos also had potatoes inside and the tomato sauce on top was interesting I've never had it this way. I asked for some salsa that my husband had with his plate to add to my mine which gave it more of a kick for flavor since I couldn't even taste the poblano pepper or any other spices. Overall, the food was underwhelming and geared toward those who want mexican food without spice. read more

Pagosa Peak is not what you'd think it'd be. We were assuming it to be American fare, but turns out it was Mexican fare. Okay, cool, I love Mexican food! Well, let me just say, it's not the greatest of all time, but it did the job? I had the carnitas plate and while it was decent, half of the meat I got was straight fat. So I couldn't even eat half of what I was given.. And the beans were interesting to say the least. The service was good, but the food did take a while to come out. read more

I live in Pagosa and this is the first time I've been in here !! Linda my waitress was amazing !! I have to say it was one of the best hamburgers that I've had in over 15 years, also this place is spotless. Do yourself a favor and go on in there and give it a try. It's my new go to spot. read more

We visited a dozen restaurants during our 3 week vacation in Pagosa Springs, including a couple that were very expensive. The best by far (even at a reasonable price) was Pagosa Peaks. Breakfast and dinner choices were delicious. The free chips and salsa were very tasty. Drinks were superb, as were the excellent steaks and seafood. Highly recommend the tuna ceviche. read more

Meh. I guess sort of newish place - still looks like a work in progress. The cold white lighting, almost fluorescent, doesn't create warm and inviting environment. For the food, wasn't a huge fan of either entree. The beef and chicken fajitas were not the best tasting and more peppers than meat. The pitiful small side portions of beans, rice, and guac were disappointing. The Durango chilled shrimp came in a huge glass filled with watery red juice and wasn't great. Too hard to fish out the food - needed a strainer to get rid of the liquid. The basics are there but has some improvements opportunities. Good luck. read more

They try really hard, I'll give them that. We were excited to try the new place in town. The menu gives the impression it's a tad upscale. It's not (it's fine, just not upscale). Noisy. My salad was good, greens were fresh and I liked the cheese. But for $8 (Aspen salad, no protein) it should cover more than 1/2 the bowl. Or put it in a smaller bowl. It looked forlorn. Salsa was fresh. Chips were okay. Hubs Burrito Deluxe wasn't great. Carne Asada was burnt (and he likes things very well done. Burnt to him would be pretty burnt). For $14 we felt it should come with beans and rice. It looked lonely on the big white plate. Our server -- the main one I think about 4 others checked on us -- was good. Stephanie I think. We need the option in town, so I hope they can adjust and make things better. read more

Tried out Pagosa Peak for the first time. Service was friendly. Food was good. I had a filet and shrimp. The seasoning on the shrimp was really good. Prices were reasonable. Ambiance felt a little off. There's a lot of stark, white, empty space in the restaurant. A warmer feel, with softer lighting, might help. read more

This was our first visit to Pagosa Peak restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised. Our server was friendly and attentive. The carne asada burrito smothered in their green chile was amazing. One of the best tasting burritos I've had. My wife enjoyed the machaca enchiladas, which were also excellent. We'll definitely be returning. read more

We tried Pagosa Peak today as it recently opened. I had relleno de camarones, husband had a steak, not one of the thin shoe-leather types one usually gets from Mexican restaurants.. Both were excellent. This place will give the other restaurants in town a run for their money, and rightly so. It's a Mexican menu but presentation and flavors are upscale, and they're planning to expand their offerings as they determine what sells well. It is DEFINITELY worth eating there, and we'll be going again. read more

Service was great! Friendly wait staff and the food was amazing. The French Toast was near perfect, bacon was crispy, not greasy. The chilaquiles were the best I've ever had from a restaurant. The sauce was spectacular, they were fresh with the perfect crunch. They tasted homemade. The eggs were cooked extremely well, and the potatoes and beans were incredible. My husband and I had lunch at Pagosa Peak yesterday and were absolutely impressed with the FRESHNESS and flavor of everything we ordered. Their salsa is the best I ever ate, the veggies perfectly diced and blended with the exact amount of spice - not so hot, but SO flavorful! It felt like somebody's auntie was in the kitchen cooking just for us. Fresh fresh fresh! The presentation of my mushroom swissburger was pretty as a picture, the home fries were hot and stacked artfully in a crisscrossed pattern, the burger patty surprisingly tasty and upon inspection the meat patty actually consisted of finely chopped steak compressed into a patty shape. The wait staff was friendly and obliging, the atmosphere clean and bright, and the food uniquely home style served with a smile. These folks are doing it right. Two thumbs up! read more
