I was referred to this office by my dentist for a root canal. I have dental insurance, but it turns out they do not accept any insurance. It is strictly out of pocket pay on way. I'll get back to this later , but I trust Dr. Viani's recommendation so we moved ahead with the consultation. First impression of the friendliness of the staff was good. Cara greeted me and signed me in. I completed the usual paperwork, which had a Services menu at the back. That should have been my first tip off. I just assumed because my dentist referred me that they accepted dental insurance would assist in completing the paperwork. The exam itself was very quick in that all they needed were x-rays Amanda was delightful. She provided me with assistance since I have been recuperating from a medical condition and have dizzy spells . Amanda insure that I was studying on my feet while getting into and out of the exam chair and back-and-forth to the digital 360 x-ray machine. Dr. Mia was very personable, seemed very efficient and knowledgeable. She explained the treatment that she felt I needed. I agree that I do need the treatment. So far we're looking at five stars for the office experience and the care I have been given during the consultation. Unfortunately, my experience suffered a bit when I went to check out. I knew I would be paying $200 for the consultation which didn't include the x-rays. What surprised me was the reluctance to provide me with paperwork with a diagnosis code that I could provide to my dental insurance for potential reimbursement. I don't think there are many people who are in a position where they can outlay thousands of dollars for treatment without the hope of some form of reimbursement by their insurance company. Kara was more accommodating in getting me a receipt and a treatment plan form which had the treatment codes on it. And they did generate a claim form for me. The other assistant whose name I am forgetting lacked a sense of humor and could've been more empathetic. (Perhaps she was having a bad day, as was I.) I should not have felt bad about asking for documentation. After all, we are talking about a couple of thousands of dollars for this treatment plus $200 for the consultation. Last time I looked, we do not live in a high-end neighborhood. I'm sure I'm not the first person who was hoping to get some type of reimbursement from my insurance plan. Anyway, I'm not going to let one person out of four dissuade me from pursuing the next phase and potentially treating through this I'll update you later once I have discussed the plan with my insurance company and followed back up with Blondin. Losing one and a half stars due to a lack of empathy on checkout, and the fact that don't accept insurance. I'm rounding up because the rest of my experience so far has been good.

The hygienist immediately put me at ease (even under the more challenging circumstances related to Covid) and did an excellent cleaning. Dr. Richard Ross did the examination after the cleaning and answered my questions and was very knowledgable and reassuring. The entire process was painless. A friend recommended Dr. NIcoletti and I am glad he did. The office is a typical dentist office but the staff was very knowledgeable and able to navigate through my insurance/billing. Then it was time to do the work. The Dr. explained everything to me in terms of what I was going to expect, all of my options, he was very patient with my questions and woila. In no time, my dental work was done...he was very gentle, quick and I did not feel any pain, any annoying mouth suctions, dry mouth, nada. Best of all, my teeth and smile look AMAZING. He reviewed the report from my endodontist that performed the root canal due to an infection in this tooth and Dr. Z said it sure was a bad infection! This crown was recently put in by another dental practice and was left untreated for months after it was sensitive to hot & cold temperatures. "Batman" said I had too much going on with my teeth and that he would not treat me. My lower jaw and gums have been hurting for a while due to impacted wisdom teeth that 2 oral surgeons are afraid to extract and other specialists misdiagnosed me with TMJ. Due to the fact that I have problems , he stated that my case is too complicated and he referred me to a specialist, which is defined as the branch of dentistry that deals with the restoration and maintenance of oral function by the replacement of missing teeth and other oral structures by artificial devices. Note that I do not have any missing teeth and that Dr. Joel Zaritski didn't even take the time to look at my in my mouth and at my teeth. I even asked, "you mean you wouldn't even do a filling out some cosmetic bonding?" NO he answered, nothing as he stood as far away from me as he could with his arms crossed! Make sure your dental work doesn't take much work or intelligence as this practice doesn't seem to want to work, think or do business with someone who needed a bit of compassion! My wait time was very minimal actually I believe I was called within 5 mins of me finishing the paperwork. I was explained how much I would be responsible for before they began to work on me. They took some very high tech images of my teeth, and then Dr. Magdalena came in. She kept apologizing for the horrible work that was done by that crazy dentist. She couldn't understand how someone could let me leave their office all botched up or how I managed this pain for so long. My root canal was difficult from what I saw on the screenings and what my referring dentist told me before. I didn't feel a thing! I remember thinking when I went for a basic filling I felt like the "crazy" dentist was killing me! But here I was getting a root canal and no pain whatsoever. Definitely recommend her and Dr. Nijem from Family Smiles of the Hudson Valley, for fixing the horrible work I received at the dental office on Lagrange Ave in Poughkeepsie.

I was a patient of Dr Wartella who was at this location, for 10 years, when Dr Wartella sold his practice to Dr Ohkawa , I was happy to continue going there for my family's dental care. Because of his wife's self centered and uncaring demeanor, she insulted me and my wife, accused me of being rude to her, even though I tried to explain my concern, all she wanted to do was dismiss me, and she removed me mid treatment because I had a question about my insurance. Unfortunately for Dr Ohkawa she runs his office, my advise to any and all is to be aware of her unprofessional, uncaring and very disturbing treatment of patients, I had heard this from others that they stopped going there because of her, I disputed what I was hearing from those people, I would always speak very highly of the Dr and his dental staff. Now I would have to advise you to avoid this Dental practice. Too bad....
