Great selection! Unique flavors that are well executed and extremely friendly service. Cute interior with a few benches to sit on and enjoy your gelato! I got the big island mac nut coffee with ube which was perfect and not too sweet, had great texture as well. My daughter got the POG that tasted mostly like orange but was still delicious and refreshing. My other daughter got the Mango and coconut lime ginger. Let me just tell you that this was quite the combination! It was fresh, and so so so good! So well executed! We will be thinking about this genius flavor for the rest of our lives.

We stopped at Paia Gelato on our way back from Hana and it was pretty good! I didn't realize at first that both gelato flavors I chose were non-dairy - Dark Chocolate and Lilikoi. In fact, half the flavor selection was dairy-free. The interior had minimal decor and powerful air conditioning, and the staff members were friendly and great about giving samples. Of my two flavors, the Dark Chocolate was my favorite, and they went great together. The only downside was that they seemed softer than normal gelato (more melty?), but that might've been due to the non-dairy aspect. Overall, worth the stop!

There was already at line at 7:20am! We stopped by for some caffeine and smoothies for our road to Hana adventures. The store is cute and have little board/signs that give you tips on road to Hana and recommendations on what to bring! I got a regular iced latte with no added flavor and the coffee tasted so good!If you know you know! My friend got the ube affogato and it was delicious with that coffee!

Delicious dessert after a long day on the Road to Hana! We got to sample lots of tasty flavors and ended up gravitating towards the sorbettos. We shared a cup with guava, lilikoi, and mango. Back on the mainland and thinking about it!

Thee best gelato, thee best service and thee kindest people. This spot is so cute and serves great gelato. My breakfast sandwich was good but my gelato??? My gelato (chocolate peanut butter) came from Jesus and he plopped it in the barrel. That stuff was heavenly. So glad I don't live here. I would be a million pounds. God bless this team! I pray that the Lord blesses your business all the more!

Not a bad gelato spot, but for ice cream related places I'd actually go to the Artisan Ice Cream store, which is a right-hand turn down the next street (one turns one way). The service was very nice/friendly and the ambiance is pretty cool too. Their strawberry flavor was my favorite.

We were craving some ice cream and saw this on our way to our hotel. I choose the regular I got a scoop of pistachio and the salted caramel. This was the most delicious and smooth gelato I have ever tasted. Definitely added to my favorites and will be coming back again. The girl who helped us was nice too!

The richest dark chocolate gelato ever. Demolished within minutes.

4 years later and still the best gelato on the island!! Man, if I can eat this everyday I would. The gelato has the perfect, I mean perfect, texture and flavor. It's incredible how great the flavors are and even incredible how every bite tastes like the first one. The pistachio was a hit this time. It tasted exactly like Italy! I would come here each time after I land. Super friendly staff and very spacious environment.

We had some time to kill before our flight and I wanted my son to have one final hoorah Hawaiian treat. Love that Paia Gelato was opened early!!! The parking is street parking but the location is super convenient and easy to find! Love the aesthetics in Paia Gelato and customer service was fantastic - super friendly, great aloha vibes, great connection, great smile! My son is a foodie and so when I asked him about the vanilla gelato he chose he said it was the best he's ever had! Would definitely visit again if I'm on the island. Thanks for feeding his soul!

    Exceptional Gelato!

Is the flavor Lilikoi Quark still available? I used to go here when it was Ono Gelato. Last time I was here was about 10 years ago, and it was only available on certain days. I'm back in Maui & am trying to find Lilikoi Quark gelato again.

Aloha. Unfortunately we are not able to source the ingredients needed for the recipe. We’re always looking and hope to be able to make it again but as of right now, it is still unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience.

As first-timers, I asked the staff for a recommendation and decided to trust their expertise. Great decision. I ordered the High Surf, and it was absolutely delicious--refreshing, flavorful, and exactly what you want after a day in the Maui sun. One of my daughters chose to add soft serve underneath her shave ice, which was a combination I had never tried before. It sounded unusual at first, but after a few bites, I completely understood why it's so popular. The creamy soft serve paired perfectly with the light, fluffy shave ice. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and happy to help us navigate the menu. Their enthusiasm added to the experience and made us feel right at home. Beyond the shave ice itself, the atmosphere was part of what made this stop special. Sitting outside in a charming small-town setting with a relaxed island vibe made it feel like more than just a dessert stop--it was an experience. The shave ice was fantastic, the service was great, and the overall vibe was exactly what we hoped for during our Maui visit. We're very happy we gave Tobi's a try and would absolutely return the next time we're on the island. Highly recommended for locals and visitors alike!

I had heard about the Maui Cookie Lady cookies in early 2016 and knew that I had to get one the next time we visited. At that time, the cookies were only available at various local markets that would get a delivery once or twice a week. There was no dedicated retail store then. In November 2016, it finally happened! I was able to find a small supply of Mitzi's, the Maui Cookie Lady's, cookies at the Market Maui (since closed). My first cookie was Da Half Baked - a chocolate chip cookie stuffed with Reese's, Snickers, AND Oreo! OMG...only a super creative cookie chef extraordinaire could have imagined such a delight! I knew that I would be a fan forever!! On every subsequent trip, I sought out the amazing cookies. It wasnʻt always easy to find them, as the batches were small and offered in very limited locations. I would be on a mission and never gave up until I found them. My friends and co-workers were always so excited when I brought them back a "world-famous Maui Cookie Lady" cookie when I returned from Maui. In late 2020, the year after my last trip to Maui, the Maui Cookie Lady opened up a retail shop in Makawao. I haven't been able to stop by in person yet, but I will be going the next time I visit. I tell all my friends about the cookies, and several have been able to stop by the cute shop. When I am lucky, a friend will bring back some ono cookies for me. The Maui Cookie Lady cookies are not like most of the cookies you are used to eating. The first thing that you will notice is that they are really big!! I like to say that they are "gargantuan"! The second thing is that they are made with creative ingredients that may be familiar to you, or they may be new. Many of the varieties incorporate local ingredients lilikoi, Kona coffee, and macadamia nuts. The combination of flavors will excite any cookie loverʻs taste buds. Donʻt worry if you are not local to stop by the shop in person. You can order cookies online, individually or via the monthly subscription box. If you are visiting and want to take a few home with you, know that they can be frozen and stay great when you want to enjoy them. They do not contain preservatives, which I think is a big plus. In addition to creating great cookies, Mitzi is a big supporter of the community. She helps with various fundraising efforts to help those in Maui. As a former teacher, she is connected to educators in Hawaiʻi and their special needs. Once I get back to Maui, I will visit the store and update this review. I can't wait!

The shave ice itself was incredibly smooth and finely shaved. However, a few details felt a bit lacking: Even after paying extra for a snow cap, they barely added any of the topping. Additionally, the shave ice could have used a bit more syrup. While they do have a sign saying you can return to the window for extra syrup, nobody actually wants to squeeze back up to the front when there is already a many people waiting. They play great, upbeat music over a loudspeaker for the vibe, but because the music is loud and you have to pick up from the window, it's really hard to hear when they call out names. Everyone ends up crowding around the window, constantly double-checking if their order was the one called. There are very few tables available compared to the crowd of people ordering, so they could definitely stand to add a few more seats. Overall, the quality of the shave ice texture is excellent, but the experience would be much better with a smoother pickup process, better portioning on premium toppings, and a few more spots to sit and enjoy!

The girl then looked up from the register with an annoyed look on her face and said, verbatim, " does it look like I'm the head baker? I only work the register. That was the most rude response I've heard in a while... like we are supposed to know who specifically ask to order a sugar free pie ... ... just a wild situation for such a fun place with great tasting pies. The good: - blackberry mango was probably my favorite pie - peach cobbler a close second place - loved the mountain berry as well The bad: - the girl working the register - you want a sugar free pie? Make sure to NEVER ask in person.
